2. As a group, we had a discussion on which locations would be best
suited to our genre of music, and where would be most accessible to
the whole of our group (including extra actors). We concluded that a
club in York would be ideal to shoot the ‘party’ scenes for our music
video. We came up with a list of possible locations, and began
emailing and phoning them to request time to use their property to
film:
LOCATION CHOICES
3. Pop world York – unfortunately Pop world did not get back to us
in time, therefor we could not use this location. This would have
been a good location because It fit into our genre of music, and
the lighting/decorating is typically girly.
POPWORLD
4. Kuda York – Kuda would have been an ideal location for our pop
video. The grand stair case, dance floor and lighting would have
made our video look high budget, perfect to represent the genre
and artists we had chosen. However, after contacting Kuda, they
charged a substantial amount over our budget that we were
willing to spend, so we could not use this venue.

5. Fibbers York – At first, Fibbers seemed more suitable for a
Rock/Indie genre of music. However, it was a free location and
they had given us their permission to use the location in our
video. When arriving at our location, we were able to use
spotlight lighting, bright gold lights, and pink, purple and blue
lights that really fitted with our theme. This venue made our
video look professional and appropriate with the lighting, bar
and stage being available to us.

6. LOCATION PERMISSION
To be able to show footage of our
chosen locations in our videos, we
had to obtain permission from the
owners. To do this, we had them sign
a release form stating that we had
their permission to feature their
property in our music video. Here is
an example of the permission form,
completed for the ‘office’ location in
our video.
7. Before filming, we created a mid map of the types of props and
costumes we wanted our actors to use. This included details on
our locations, narrative and genre.
PROPS, COSTUMES AND SETTING
8. Finally, to make sure we were fully prepared when arriving at
our location, we created a shooting schedule that set out what
parts of our story board we would film at what time.
