1. Madam/Sir,
I am happy to apply to join your drilling equipment repair unit as a maintenance engineer, having had
over ten (10) years’ experience in facility management, and maintenance, testing, deployment
(installation) and operation of the Blow Out Preventers (BOPs) and various drill tools.
Having bagged a degree in mechanical engineering, and several OEM training courses, I have successfully
worked in different multi-nationals companies at various positions in the drilling equipment maintenance
unit, including Transocean Offshore Inc, where as the maintenance/subsea drilling equipment engineer, I
efficiently plan, schedule and maintain equipment and tools in such a manner as to ensure operational
efficiency of such equipment and eliminate downtime.
Working in deep offshore drilling units such as drillship and semisubmersibles, I have overcome varied
operational-induced maintenance constraints through proper application of different maintenance
methods such as Preventive, Predictive, Corrective and Operational based maintenance, using
appropriate engineering analysis and appraisal to keep my equipment well maintained.
During routine drilling activities, I always ensure my equipment meet regulatory compliance codes by
verification of BOP operators’ functionality through weekly function test, as per API recommended
practice, RP53, / 6.5.2.3, and by performing low and high wellbore pressure tests every 14-21 days as per
API RP53 / 6.5.3.4.1.
I can effectively look after both surface and subsea RAM and ANNULAR types blow out preventers (BOPs),
Internal BOPs (IBOPs), safety valves, choke and kill manifold valves, Auto chokes, and even complex
equipment like the motion compensators, Marine Tensioners and Risers among other drilling. Also my
technical expertise includes the repairs of drilling and completion tools like various drill bits, fishing tools, etc.
One of the highlights of my career and demonstration of my technical proficiency was my ability to lead a
team of engineers and API observers to perform 5-yearly turnaround maintenance and re-certification of
the BOPs (18 ¾ ‘’, 15k Cameron TL BOP with MUX control system, two Shaffer spherical annulars and five
units of RAM-type BOPs with st-locks) on the GSF Jack Ryan drillship. In this project, I disassembled all BOP
and their operators, inspected, rebult, and tested entire BOP stack. I also performed signature and operator
tests, high pressure well bore tests (1.5 times rated pressure), pipe shear tests (physically cut a pipe with the
blind shear ram and tested for well bore pressure integrity afterwards). Magnetic particle test (MPI) on the
pipes was also carried out among other activities. We achieved timely completion of this project and have
the entire BOPs re-certified via the use of proactive planning skills, tasks and resources scheduling,
execution monitoring and control and effective communication among team members and with the upper
management via designated lines of reporting. This project was carried out in Gran Canaria Island in Spain.
It will be my great pleasure to utilize my project management skills to promote overall operational
efficiency through effective resources assignment and scheduling my asset and human resources in such
a way as to eliminate idea time and guarantee timely completion of end-of-well maintenance.
My mechanical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, keen desire for career fulfilment through drive for
excellence and proven ability to function well in a multi-cultural work environment makes me suitable for
such a diverse-culture environment at your company
Kindly refer to my resume for details of my qualifications, work history and accomplishments as I look
forward to an interview opportunity where I’ll be glad to provide any further information you may require.
