Shaw Students Compete in Local Ethics Bowl Competition
“The Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl is an activity that combines the excitement of
a competitive tournament with a valuable education experience for
undergraduate students. Created in 1993 at the Illinois Institute of Technology,
the Ethics Bowl has grown slowly over the past few years. A moderator asks
two teams questions that pose an ethical problem on topics ranging from
professional ethics to social and political topics, and are than scored by a panel
of judges on their responses both to the question and one another. Since 1997,
the national Ethics Bowl Competition has taken place every year at the annual
meeting of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.

2. fMRI
fMRI’s are used to:
1). Examine the anatomy of the brain.
Determine precisely which part of the
brain is handling critical functions such
as thought, speech, movement and
sensation, which is called brain mapping.

tumors.
Usually in an FMRI examination, you will
perform a particular task during the
imaging process, causing increased
metabolic activity in the area of the brain
responsible for the task. This activity,
which includes expanding blood vessels,
chemical changes and the delivery of
extra oxygen, can then be recorded on
MRI images."
3. MRI
MRI’s are used for:
1). To visualize the brain and any
pathology which may be present
(size of the ventricles, signs of
stroke, aneurysm, brain tumor,
pituitary abnormalities etc). QuickTimeª and a
