-M.CHANDRAKUMARI
Teaching learning process is a transaction or a complex cooperative and personal
relationship between the teacher and the student. The fulfilment of aim and objective in
education depends on the teaching-learning process. In teaching-learning process the teacher,
the learner and the curriculum should be organized in a systematic way to attain some pre-
determined goal.
Teaching
The purposeof teaching is not merely passing on information or knowledge but the main
purposeof teaching is to:
1. Help the students to acquire knowledge
2. Develop attitude
3. Achieve skills
4. Establish habits, through planning, implementation and evaluation of students by the
feedback and reflection.
Learning
Learning is a process resulting in some change or modification in the learner’s way of
thinking, feeling and doing. The change may be temporary or permanent.
Curriculum
Teaching and learning give life to the curriculum. Value placed teaching will reap the
same value in learning. A good curriculum can be judged by the kind of teaching and the
quality of learning derived from it.
Appropriate process in teaching- learning goals
Teaching is the set of events, outside the learners which are designed to support
internal process oflearning. Teaching (instruction) is outside the learners.
Teaching is perceived as stimulating, directing, guiding the learner and evaluating the
learning outcome of teaching.
Teaching is a process that enables that learner to earn on his own.
Teaching-learning is the process bywhich the teacher brings the student and the subject
matter together. The teacher and the taught are active, the former in teaching and the latter in
learning. It is deliberate intervention that involves the planning and implementation of
instructional activities and experiences to meet intended learner’s outcome according to
teachers plan. It is the most powerful instrument of education to bring about desired changes
in the learners.
