Swami Vivekananda was born Narendranath Dutta on January 12, 1863 in Calcutta, India to an affluent Bengali family. He received his early education in Calcutta before joining the Ramakrishna Math and becoming a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. In 1893, he represented India and Hinduism at the World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago. He died in 1902 at the young age of 39 while in meditation, attaining 'Mahasamadhi' as predicted, and was cremated on the banks of the river Ganga.
