EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The study is conducted to understand the smoking and drinking habits among the youth
and the key factors influencing them towards these habits in MSR Nagar Bangalore.
For this study, descriptive and analytical method is used. Data collection was analyzed
from the tabulation and graphical representation to draw valid inferences and conclusions.
Questionnaire is used for primary data collection.
The limitation of the study was restricted to MSR Nagar in Bangalore and therefore the
result of the study cannot be generalized to other part of the country.
The plan of analysis was done on bar chart. Findings of the study says that most of the
youth are addicted to smoking and drinking especially boys. Mostof the boys and girls start
drinking during their college days. Most of the respondents described smoking and drinking as
an act of entertainment.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:
India is a developing country and present Indian youth are addicted to smoking, drinking, and
these habits largely affecting their career. Moreover, this study helps to analyze the smoking
and drinking among youth.

The study only provides smoking and drinking habits among the youth between the
specified age group.
The study is restricted only to the limited area.
The population of the study is also limited

Hypothesis
• H0- YOUTH IS INVOLVED IN HABITS OF DRNINKING AND SMOKING
• H1- YOUTH IS NOT INVOLVED IN HABITS OF DRINKING AND SMOKING
INTERPRETATION:- From the table, Chi-square value is 42.608, p value is 0.91 with sample
size of 50. The value of level of significance (α) is 0.05. The p value is more than the value of
level of significance. Hence, the null hypothesis is accepted. Hence, it can be concluded that
youth is involved in habits of drinking and smoking

FINDINGS
• Most of the boys and girls starts drinking and smoking during their college days
• Most of the respondents described smoking and drinking as an act of entertainment
• Respondents who smokes and drinks spends half of their pocketmoney in purchasing
cigarettes and alcohol
• Most of the respondents blames their friends who influenced them to start smoking and
drinking

RECOMMENDATIONS
• Few respondents wants to quit these habits but they are not able to do so, proper
counselling would be beneficial for them
• Most of the respondents started smoking after leaving their home for higher education so
a propercheck from parents side will be useful
• Few respondents are a part of these habits due to depressions so, a propercounselling
would be useful.

CONCLUSION
The study on the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes among the youth gained me more
experience about the study and helped me know how these habits change the person and gave
me result how youth addict to smoking and drinking.
