Group Facilitator, Medical Board of California, Physician’s Diversion Program, Sacramento, CA (8/2000 – 10/2007)
Facilitated weekly support group for physicians residing in Humboldt and Del Norte counties who participated in the
California Diversion Program. Supported recovery from alcohol and other drugs. Submitted progress reports to the California
Medical Board and participated in Diversion Evaluation Committee meetings. This group expanded to serve the needs of
recovering pharmacists and registered nurses in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties participating in Diversion through their
professional boards.
Substance Abuse Counselor, Saint Joseph Hospital Medical Center, Family Recovery Services, Eureka, CA (2/1998 –
10/2002) Provided group and individual counseling, to patients and their families, in the partial hospitalization and aftercare
programs for substance abuse and addiction issues. Supervised MSW students and facilitated the clinical supervision group
for the treatment team. (Family Recovery Services closed due to fiscal instability).
Outpatient Psychotherapist, Arcata Family Health Center, Arcata, CA (3/1994-9/2000) Psychotherapist for children and
adults in this outpatient medical practice. Worked closely with the primary care physicians and nurse practitioners to provide
a full range of services for our patients. (Saint Joseph Hospital Medical Center purchased this clinic, and eventually closed it in
November 2000 due to fiscal instability).
Outpatient Psychotherapist, Northcountry Clinic, Arcata, CA (7/1993-12/1996) Provided individual, couple, family and
group psychotherapy for patients in the outpatient medical clinic.

Crisis Intervention and Outpatient Counselor (4/1987-6/1993). Counseled victims of sexual assault seen in the
hospital emergency room. Accompanied victims during evidentiary exams, police interviews, and court appearances.
Provided 12-week outpatient counseling to sexual assault victims.

progressive acute care hospital. Specialty assignment to obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, and HIV/AIDS patients.
Psychiatric Social Worker, University of Southern California (USC)/Los Angeles County Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA
(7/1986-7/1998) Provided outpatient individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to a multicultural population in East Los
Angeles. Responsible for case management of chronically mentally ill patients living in the surrounding community. This
university-connected teaching hospital afforded me rich supervision and training opportunities.
Lab Assistant/Associate, UCLA, Department of Psychiatry, Los Angeles, CA (6/1993-10/1994). As a lab assistant and then
associate, I assisted three UCLA research psychologists, working at the Brentwood Veterans Administration, on a grant-funded
project to develop and evaluate social and independent living skills programs for veterans diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Collected data for PTSD research project.
Coordinator, UCLA Developmental Disabilities Immersion Program, UCLA Department of Field Studies, Los Angeles, CA
(10/1982-6/1983). Coordinated two quarters of the UCLA Developmental Disabilities Immersion Program located at
Lanterman State Hospital (LSH) in Pomona CA. Supervised the activities of 29 UCLA undergraduate students enrolled in this
intensive program of coursework, research, and practicum experience with developmentally disabled clients. Supervised the
student living quarters located on the LSH campus.

Harbor UCLA County Hospital, Adult Psychiatry Department, Torrance CA (10/1985-6/1986). Outpatient training in
diagnostic evaluations, individual, couple and group psychotherapy. Nine-week rotation on the inpatient psychiatric
unit.
Jewish Family Service Center, Los Angeles, CA (1/1985-9/1985). Trained in individual and group counseling, case
management, and project development. Participated in the development of a shelter for Homeless Women.
