After a long career as a Science teacher in Secondary schools , in February 2015 I decided that I would like a
change of direction. Since then I have been teaching in Primary and Special schools.
I have considerable expertise with Special Needs, particularly ASC, Dyslexia, physical disabilities such as
Down’s syndrome, Muscular dystrophy, Cerebral palsy, in mainstream settings and in Special schools.
Have taught Biology and Environmental Science to A level, and all three Sciences plus Maths to GCSE level.
Experience of teaching a wide range of other subjects whilst working as a Supply teacher.
In December 2013 I was chosen as the ‘Best Supply teacher of the Term’ by the Aspire teaching agency

Mayfield Special School, Birmingham: April 2016-present
Currently doing a Maternity cover ,teaching a KS3 class. I am responsible for planning Music lessons for KS3 as
well as teaching my own class. From April 2016-July 2016 I did PPA cover plus Music, teaching a wide range of
children from Nursery up to KS4/5 and a wide range of disabilities including Primary PMLD, ASC and Down’s
syndrome.

Some supply work was on a 'daily' basis, most of it was longer term contracts covering for sickness or maternity
leave so I was carrying out the same duties as teachers on permanent contracts, i.e. lesson preparation, marking,
writing reports, attending Parents' Evenings, producing Schemes of Work etc.
I was able to actually teach most subjects rather than simply setting work and supervising classes.
