Shooters Hill Campus is a post 16 institute. I am a form tutor and classroom teacher within the inclusive learning
department. I teach and assess a range of courses based around functional and living skills. Additionally to teaching, I

September – December Career Teachers7th Floor, 63 St Mary Axe, London, EC3A 8AA
2015 2015 (at Dycorts School, Settle Road, Harold Hill, Romford Essex, RM3 9YA)
Duties and responsibilities
Dycorts is an ‘all through’ special school in Romford Essex, taking students from 7 – 16 years. I am a classroom teacher
for a Year 8 and 9 class. The school uses a primary model throughout and I am responsible for all subject teaching within
the class, target setting and the monitoring of pupil progress.
3
April - September Class tutor / Sixth Form SENCo
2012 2015 Charlton Park Academy, Charlton Park Road, Charlton, London, SE7 8HX.
Duties and responsibilities
I originally started teaching at Charlton in January 2012 as a long term supply teacher. My duties over the three and a
half years I was teaching there included teaching students experiencing ASD, PMLD and BESMH. Many of the students
experienced multiple and complex needs. I taught throughout the school from KS3 through to post 16. I co-ordinated and
monitored the interventions and progress of students within the classes I taught and liaised with other professionals
depending on the needs of the students. As a teacher in Charlton I was required to manage a large tean of LSAs and was
responsible for their performance management and appraisal protocols.
I took on several roles additional to my teaching duties. I was the co-ordinator for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze and
Silver awards award and had lead responsibility for the setting up of the academy’s ‘Forest Schools’ project. I was also
the second lead for mathematics, in which role I analysed data for the school improvement planning process.
I was also a member of the SENCo team within the academy with special responsibility for the sixth form. My duties
included writing reports for and chairing annual reviews for students throughout the academy, liaising with children’s
and adult social services to ensure smooth transition, liaising with other agencies, e.g. CAMHS, SALT, OT, local
colleges etc as required. To assist me in the SENCo role, I studied and achieved the National Award for Special
Educational Needs Co-ordination at Christchurch Canterbury University.
Sept – March Supply Teacher
2010 2012 Hays Education, 1st Floor, Star House, Pudding Lane, Maidstone, ME14 1LT
Career Teachers, 7th
Floor, One Camomile Street, London, EC3A 7BH
Prospero Teaching 3rd
Floor, Clerkenwell Hse, 67 Clerkenwell Road, London, EC1R 5BL
Duties and responsibilities
I was engaged in several different teaching posts ranging from reception to KS3 in mainstream schools, special schools,
inclusion units and a young offenders institution. From November 2010 to July 2011, I was on long term supply as the
maths teacher for KS3 students at the Hundred of Hoo Comprehensive School’s, St Werburgh Centre. This is a unit for
high functioning students, experiencing difficulties on the autistic spectrum. The ethos of the unit is to try to re-integrate
the students into the main stream of the school. To facilitate inclusion, the curriculum of the centre closely echoes the
curriculum of the main school so that there is as little change as possible for the students when they attend the
mainstream. From January 2012, I was posted to Charlton Park School, a special school for ASD, PMLD, SLD and
Complex Needs, where I took a post as class tutor for a post 16 class teaching functional skills within the sixth form. In
March 2012, I was invited to apply for the post full time and was successful in that application.
I used the St Werburgh Centre as the subject of a research dissertation for a Master’s degree (MA.Ed Inclusion) that I
began when I first started to teach in the special needs role. Additionally to the dissertation, I have passed units in;
Managing Teaching and Learning, Teaching Children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, Educational Psychology,
An Integrated Approach to BESDs and two research units.
Jan – Sept Class Teacher
2009 2010 Westbrooke Primary School, South Gypsy Road, Welling Kent
Duties and responsibilities
Westbrooke School is a special school for children beset with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESDs).
All of the children at the school have been permanently excluded from main stream by virtue of their behaviour in the
classroom. Within each class there are measures in place to modify unacceptable behaviour and as a school the ultimate
aim is to re-introduce the children back into mainstream. I was responsible for one of two year 6 classes within the
school and as such had to deliver the national curriculum as closely to Year 6 expectations as possible. The children were
expected, where achievable, to perform to national standards for their ages.

Jan Dec Inclusion Unit Teacher / Manager
2008 2008 Horizon Primary School, Hilda may Avenue, Swanley, Kent
Duties and responsibilities
The Andromeda unit, as it was known, was an inclusion unit designed as an intervention for children whose behaviour in
mainstream classrooms was moving them towards permanent exclusion. The purpose of the unit was to modify the
behaviour of the children with a view to them being re – introduced to mainstream education.
I was involved from the outset with the setting up of the unit and developing the curriculum and behaviour policies
operated by the unit. I ran the unit on a daily basis supported by a teaching assistant and liaised closely with the school
SENCo and outside agencies that became involved with the children. The behaviour of the children was by definition
challenging and all had a statement of special educational needs for behaviour.

  • 4. April - September Class tutor / Sixth Form SENCo 2012 2015 Charlton Park Academy, Charlton Park Road, Charlton, London, SE7 8HX. Duties and responsibilities I originally started teaching at Charlton in January 2012 as a long term supply teacher. My duties over the three and a half years I was teaching there included teaching students experiencing ASD, PMLD and BESMH. Many of the students experienced multiple and complex needs. I taught throughout the school from KS3 through to post 16. I co-ordinated and monitored the interventions and progress of students within the classes I taught and liaised with other professionals depending on the needs of the students. As a teacher in Charlton I was required to manage a large tean of LSAs and was responsible for their performance management and appraisal protocols. I took on several roles additional to my teaching duties. I was the co-ordinator for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze and Silver awards award and had lead responsibility for the setting up of the academy’s ‘Forest Schools’ project. I was also the second lead for mathematics, in which role I analysed data for the school improvement planning process. I was also a member of the SENCo team within the academy with special responsibility for the sixth form. My duties included writing reports for and chairing annual reviews for students throughout the academy, liaising with children’s and adult social services to ensure smooth transition, liaising with other agencies, e.g. CAMHS, SALT, OT, local colleges etc as required. To assist me in the SENCo role, I studied and achieved the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination at Christchurch Canterbury University. Sept – March Supply Teacher 2010 2012 Hays Education, 1st Floor, Star House, Pudding Lane, Maidstone, ME14 1LT Career Teachers, 7th Floor, One Camomile Street, London, EC3A 7BH Prospero Teaching 3rd Floor, Clerkenwell Hse, 67 Clerkenwell Road, London, EC1R 5BL Duties and responsibilities I was engaged in several different teaching posts ranging from reception to KS3 in mainstream schools, special schools, inclusion units and a young offenders institution. From November 2010 to July 2011, I was on long term supply as the maths teacher for KS3 students at the Hundred of Hoo Comprehensive School’s, St Werburgh Centre. This is a unit for high functioning students, experiencing difficulties on the autistic spectrum. The ethos of the unit is to try to re-integrate the students into the main stream of the school. To facilitate inclusion, the curriculum of the centre closely echoes the curriculum of the main school so that there is as little change as possible for the students when they attend the mainstream. From January 2012, I was posted to Charlton Park School, a special school for ASD, PMLD, SLD and Complex Needs, where I took a post as class tutor for a post 16 class teaching functional skills within the sixth form. In March 2012, I was invited to apply for the post full time and was successful in that application. I used the St Werburgh Centre as the subject of a research dissertation for a Master’s degree (MA.Ed Inclusion) that I began when I first started to teach in the special needs role. Additionally to the dissertation, I have passed units in; Managing Teaching and Learning, Teaching Children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, Educational Psychology, An Integrated Approach to BESDs and two research units. Jan – Sept Class Teacher 2009 2010 Westbrooke Primary School, South Gypsy Road, Welling Kent Duties and responsibilities Westbrooke School is a special school for children beset with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESDs). All of the children at the school have been permanently excluded from main stream by virtue of their behaviour in the classroom. Within each class there are measures in place to modify unacceptable behaviour and as a school the ultimate aim is to re-introduce the children back into mainstream. I was responsible for one of two year 6 classes within the school and as such had to deliver the national curriculum as closely to Year 6 expectations as possible. The children were expected, where achievable, to perform to national standards for their ages. 4
