The Museum of Mathematics, set to open in 2012 in New York City,
will operate as the only one of its kind in the country. The focus of
the Museum of Mathematics will be to develop a greater interest in
and understanding of the topic among the general public. A
mathematical art gallery and interactive exhibits are some of the
attractions planned at the new museum. The Museum of Mathematics
has already begun to conduct educational programs throughout the
nation. The programs include a presentation series, Math Encounters,
and the Math Midway museum exhibition currently on tour across the
county, as well as an assortment of programs designed for teachers,
students, and the public. The Museum of Mathematics has raised
more than $22 million in funding to support these programs. Visit

4. The Museum of Mathematics and The Central Park
Conservancy’s Women’s Committee
In 1980, the Central Park Conservancy was founded to
restore the historic park to its natural condition. Over
the course of more than 30 years since it started, the
Central Park Conservancy has invested more than $550
million into rejuvenating the park. The organization
continues to expand and is under contract to manage
the facility until 2014. Early on in the history of Central
Park Conservancy, a group of four women came
together to form the Women’s Committee. The Women’s
Committee supports several of its own programs and
charitable events.
