Jane Werner from the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and Drew Davidson from Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center discussed creating a makerspace at the museum to give visitors a space to create and explore hands-on learning. In partnership with other organizations, the museum created MAKESHOP, a permanent exhibit space for making. MAKESHOP helps visitors develop creativity through access to materials and tools. It has been successful in increasing attendance, engagement with families, and helping other organizations provide maker-based learning opportunities.
