Project Leadership and Change Management:
 Led the design and delivery of project management of Windows7 providing project status and direction for an organization
over 5,000 people ($30+ billion dollar product line).
 Project released within 12% product schedule and with a fraction of the defects from prior releases (Vista).
 Led the Windows7 executive leadership team meetings, bringing together leaders across the company to discuss challenges,
issues, opportunities and other general alignment communications as needed.
 Led the project process design and project management of Visual Studio ($2 billion dollar product line).
 Project released within 10% original schedule and with a reduction of 40,000 defects over prior releases.
 Managed new outsourcing initiative to China, saving $500M and providing 24/7 triage for our customers.
 Oversaw largest Beta release ever (8M downloads) and designed the product key process to enable this effort.
 Managed and released 4300 SKU’s (10TB) within 4 weeks (corporate record), ensuring we met our commitments, worldwide
compliance, and helping IT improve efficiencies in our release tools & processes.
 Guided selection of project efforts; include defining target markets, customers, competitive strengths, & strategy for
organization of 2,000 people in planning preparation for next version of product capabilities.
 Architected and delivered the “Art of Shipping” Engineering Excellence day event for all Microsoft employees to learn how we
plan, build, and deliver our products in the most effective and efficient way.
Organizational Effectiveness and Lean Principles:
 Designed and led an organizational system process redesign for 3,500 person engineering team leading to a 300% productivity
increase, increasing predictability in delivery ten-fold, reducing of product engineering costs by several million and increasing
customer satisfaction by 11% in just one product cycle.
 Responsible for building a high performing, Lean IT organization delivering $120M+ supply chain capabilities annually through
unifying process architecture around SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) model of value streams, system capabilities,
and business analytics.
 Redesigned and simplified organizational system processes and metrics, enabling teams to receive iterative performance
feedback through development cycles. Through this and team coaching we reduced engineering estimating variance from
150-500% over to within 10-35% over three milestones (9 months).
 Design and delivered a yearlong series of workshops with 50 middle management leaders enabling them learn to effectively
run their business, people, and processes day-to-day freeing the senior leadership team to focus on strategy.
