1963: Theater established
1963-1999: Endowment fund (interest-bearing bank account) stands at $500,000 in
1999
1999: Received grant includes $750,000 challenge grant from Doris Duke
Foundation;
matching funds raised from:
• Individual donors via endowment campaign (letters and personal asks)
• “My Fair Milton” event (April 2000) honoring founding board member Milton
Stanzler
• Stanzler Society established to honor donors to the endowment
2001: Endowment moved to Rhode Island Foundation
2006: Trinity Repertory Company Board of Trustees establishes formal bequest
acceptance policy
2010: Public Launch of Theater for Every Generation Campaign
2011-2014: Renewed Legacy Giving Program results in $1.8M in newly
documented planned gifts, increased cash giving to endowment, and
completion/establishment of four named funds
