Community Foundations <ul><li>Began in Cleveland in 1914 by an attorney who envisioned: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A singe entity that stewarded the charitable wishes of many different citizens for the “perpetual” benefit of the community. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Today there are over 700 Community Foundations CFs across the nation. There are approximately 80 CFs in Ohio. </li></ul></ul>

  6. 6. <ul><li>a tax-exempt organization which receives and invests charitable gifts from individuals, families, businesses and other groups and distributes earnings for grants and projects that help meet the continually evolving needs of our area and its residents. Scioto Foundation’s mission is to improve, enhance, and enrich the quality of life for all residents of southern Ohio and northern Kentucky by: Practicing wise and careful investment of assets Providing a continuous stream of income to benefit community need and the intent of our donors Promoting philanthropy to all persons in the region Demonstrating and promoting leadership through collaborative partnerships with community organizations, and Monitoring the outcomes of our grant making
