3. SANTANDER DEPARTMENT
Santander is one of the 32 departments of Colombia. It is located in the central northern part of the
country.
Its borders are the Magdalena River to the east, Boyacá Departments to the south, Norte de Santander
and Cesar Departments to the north and to the west with Bolivar and Antioquia Departments.
Its capital is the city of Bucaramanga.
The population is over two million inhabitants.
