it, then applying it to what you have learned.
3. Importance
– Increases creativity, performance, and literacy.
– Demands collaboration
– Develops skills of recognition and prediction
– “Having students track patterns in information forces them
to look at the information as a process instead of simply
information to be memorized…”
4. Role in 21st Century
Education
– Critical thinking is present in every task in 21st century
education.
– Technology is the center of everything we do allowing
teachers to use it to teach lessons forcing to apply the
concepts learned in class and not just remember an
equation or the date of a war.
– Promotes active learning.
5. Technology’s Role
– Twitter: Follow an account of preferred topic and then
tweet a 140 character response
– WebQuest: Given background information on a topic and
utilize that information to complete a given task
– Blogs: Expresses their views and makes connections to the
material
– Facebook: Sharing related news articles and videos while
receiving input from others and what they see
– Movie Maker: Illustrate one’s interpretation of a lesson
6. Detailed Application
– Facebook: A teacher uploads a linear functions video to
their page for their students to watch. Along with the video
is a task: After watching the video, comment on this post
on how linear functions connect to the expansion of
matrices, which we just covered in class.
