Gender Roles in Movies Essay
Gender Roles in Contemporary Film and Music
The representations of women in film.
In contemporary film women's roles in films have varied quiet considerably between genres, geographical placement, and between period settings.
These factors contribute to the different representations of women's roles in the film they are present in.
These roles are diverse going from the traditional maternal role to that of manipulative murderer. In contemporary media these roles are given higher
status, in the pass the highest a female role could be at most was a side–kick or a co–star, they were given the title leading lady if they were at there
best and yet they would always be second best. However, in present times in more...show more content...
This is in complete contrast to that which is portrayed of the male figure in the films of contemporary times and even in the early years of the film
business and yet in comparison to today there is a great variation to the representations. They have moved on a lot in comparison to the older films
and yet in contemporary films it is not as noticeable as we live in a more liberated time for women yet the
'film business still is pre–dated in comparison' to the position of women within the maintenance of society as this is not a representation of the 'social
realism' of the times we are presently in. This is noticed when we compare it with the male representations the in especially of contemporary times.
The representations of men in films.
In contemporary film the men's roles in the films have been quiet constant in their representation of the male gender in the films by which they are
depicted. Just like in past films the male roles have usually been in the lead thus the representation of the men are that of their leadership qualities

My Favorite Movies Essay
Have you ever thought about what kind of movies you have watched and why you have watched them? Ever since I was a child, I always liked
watching movies that had unique and interesting characteristics in it. My parents told me that when I was a child I never wanted to watch movies
that were long and had boring plot. They tell me that I was very fussy on what movies I wanted to watch, and that I always watched movies that
encouraged or taught kids something good about behaviour or environment.. Since my parents told me this, I can now very much relate to my
childhood and I think that I have not changed at all. This is because I am still very picky about the movies I watch. All the movies should have certain
characteristics such as acting, villain, and plot in order to be considered good movies by the audience.
Without a good actor in a movie, the movie will seem mundane to the audience watching it. One of the movies that I think has good acting is Home
Alone. In this movie, there is a boy name Kevin who is left behind at his house while his family goes on a vacation. This movie is all about how
Kevin, an eight year old boy, faces difficulties while he is alone at his house and learns that two burglars are planning to rob his house. I think this
movie is great and entertaining because it shows how an eight year old kid deals with the robbery that was going to take place in his house all by
himself. Another movie that I believe has good acting is Star Wars– The Force

Racism In Movies Essay
Is racism shown through TV by actors playing stereotypical roles? While clear that races tend to get stuck in the same stereotypical roles, that does
not overshadow all the diverse roles that actors play. Racism is not shown through television by actors playing stereotypical roles. Some races simply
portray a character type better than others or the general public already has a generalization about what race a character type is.
Actor/Actress's also accept the same type of roles as that they're both are comfortable with and excel at. Take shows like The Haves and The Have
Not's (perry 2013) and Empire (Daniels and Danny 2016) for example. In The Haves and The Have Not's; the "Haves" are portrayed as a white family
with very high standing power and extremely well off. While the "Have Not's" are portrayed as a middle class/ impoverished black family. In the show
one of the characters decides she is tired of that life and does many...show more content...
For example, we have an actor like Liam Neeson; he always plays these badass characters that are always some type of ex spy or cop. He is offered
many diverse roles to do however, he always plays that type of character because that is probably what he feels the most comfortable playing.
Same goes for an actor like Morgan Freeman. He also always plays the same stereotypical insightful and wise character. Not because he gets
stereotyped into it but rather it's because it's what he enjoys doing. Everyone, especially artists have their niches and things that they excel at, actors
are no exception. Color does not have more of an influence on whether an actor gets a stereotypical role but rather what type of role they are
comfortable with playing. If they happen to always be the same thing then one can't just force them to do something they don't want to do and the
character wouldn't come off as believable if they were forced into it

My Favorite Movie Essay
As 2016 draws to its inevitable close, it's time for me to look back on the (literally) hundreds of movies I've seen this year and decide which ten were
my absolute favorites. A heady task, I know– but someone who calls himself "The Black Saint" has gotta do it. And since I'm the only person around
here in the depths of Gruesome Manor that answers to that name, I guess that task falls to me.
But before I get to the final ten, I'd like to give shout outs to some films that I enjoyed out of the horror genre. Films like Deadpool, which took the
whole superhero genre and freshened it in a most ribald, hilarious and unexpected way. Captain America: Civil War is pretty much my favorite
superhero movie so far, I loved its intrigue, action, and flat out incredible battle scenes. Having the Black Panther and Spider–Man in the mix didn't
hurt any either. Marvel films went 3 for 3 this year with the release of Doctor Strange, which (in IMAX 3D) was the first superhero film to actually
make me feel like I was in another dimension. A real experience to witness in the IMAX format.
Getting back to the horror genre, Green Room was one of the most harrowing films of the year for sure, with scenes of violence that still make me
wince when I think of them. Larry Kent's She Who Must Burn is more morality tale than horror film, but it's scenes of horror are about as potent as any
I've witnessed this year, it features villains that I truly despised, and an ending that stayed with me for

Difference between the movies
The introduction to this research paper will be about the differences and similarities of the three different movies of romeo and juliet. It will explain
the kind of technology and the way the people dress, how they live, the way they transport. It will begin by describing the stories based on the movies
and also characters and their roles. The type of race and what was different in each other's movies.
What are the differences in the three movies of Romeo and Juliet? There are many differences in all three of the movies but at the same time there are
also similarities in them. Starting with the differences, First the Major difference is the setting the time and place. Those are some of the major
differences out of all the movies also including the time.
Other differences would be the characters the technology depending in the time and place, example 1996 and 1968 would be the way the people
fought and the way how to attack one another. In the movie of 1996 the Characters were to use guns and cars but in the movie of romeo and juliet

Movie Theater Experience
Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want
to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my
mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While
the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well.
Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound
system, the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you
around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common experience and amplifies it so it feels
like you're getting something even greater.
Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With
fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it
comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well

Television Vs Movies Essay
Before there was television and motion pictures (movies), people used to spend their leisure time listening to the radio. They were offered little variety
and often routinely listened to the same things. In the late 1800's and early 1900's, motion pictures and television were invented, respectively. In the
beginning, they were considered luxuries. As time wore on, they became increasingly more and more popular. Today they are both extremely common
forms of entertainment. Though they are both very popular, they are also very different.

There are dozens of different movies to choose from but once you make that decision, for the most part, you are stuck with it. Choosing which movie
to see is also often an issue. When there are several people involved, deciding on which movie to see is often difficult. Also, when people go to the
movies, they do not have the luxury of being in their own homes. Frequently, people choose to stay home and watch television over going out to the
movies.
Television offers many things that going to the movies does not. TV offers viewing in the comfort of one's own home. When watching TV, one has the
option of doing several other tasks at the same time. You might prepare dinner, do some homework, or talk on the phone, all while watching TV. The
time that you invest in TV is completely variable. You might watch a program for a half an hour or you might watch a TV movie for two hours.
There is no commitment involved in watching TV. If for some reason you do not like the program that you are watching, at any time you can
simply change the channel and watch something else. If something comes up and you are unable to watch a program, you can easily insert a video
tape in to your VCR and record the program to watch at a later time. There is always a variety of programs to watch and there is always something
for everyone. Television shows rely on stories that last for long periods of time to keep viewers interested. They keep going on and on, sometimes for

Whiplash Film Analysis
Damien Chazelle's critically acclaimed American drama film Whiplash (2014), presents a thought–provoking and confronting depiction of volatile and
manipulative relationships, in which Andrew Niemen, a young ambitious jazz drummer is pushed to the brink of his ability and sanity by his ruthless
teacher, Terence Fletcher. Nieman's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into an obsession. Whiplash proving highly popular with audiences

However, now Neiman's gradual spiral into an obsession for greatness has driven him to breaking point. The car crash scene is the turning point in
Nieman's character. His pursuit of perfection and greatness has blinded him. At this point Neiman has lost his old self completely, his dialogue is
arrogant and hostile, he no longer cares for his band members or anything apart from greatness. His gradual change of behaviour is evident through
his dialogue 1:03:28 when Nieman is on the telephone to one of his band members, he starts cursing and using profane language, similarly to Fletcher.
Drumming has become his life, he is no longer concentrated on being a good person instead he is focused on being remembered, as demonstrated after
the car accident, Nieman is determined to succeed and please Fletcher, thus continuing to play. As he plays every excruciating beat, his blood drips onto
the drum set; representing the pain that he is willing to go to achieve success. Neiman's madness is stopped by Fletcher's two words: "You're done".
Along with lighting and dialogue, the volatile and manipulative relationship between Fletcher and Nieman is explored through Chazelles use of
cinematography.
Music, editing, and camera angles are used by Chazelle to explore the effects of a volatile and manipulative student–teacher relationship. The
cinematography and music used throughout the scene intensify the volatile relationship

Why Comedy Movies Are So Great Essay
There are many forms of expression inside of everybody; however the most common form is laughter. The sound of laughter can be heard all around
the worlds every second, it helps us relieve stress and makes us feel better about ourselves. Comedy movies play such an important role in helping us
laugh. There are many forms of movies out there today. In spite of the recent incline in action and horror movies today, comedy movies has always
been my number one choice because it gives people an opportunity to look at humor in life, it usually has a pointless, useless moral that we can relate
to, and it allows you to look at things in a new light and possibly expand your horizon to become a more optimistic person....show more content...
Many of the morals in a comedy movie can relate to us; however, it usually is a moral that is just useless facts that we don't need in our daily life.
In the movie, Me, Myself, and Irene is an example of a moral that we can relate to but really don't need. In the beginning of the movie the character
has found the love of his life, they get married and live a happy life until his wife finds another guy and they get divorced. At the end of the movie
the main character finds another girl he really likes and was going to let her walk out of his life, until he realizes he is not going to be happy without
her and stops her from leaving. The moral in the movie was that you shouldn't let a loved one go by without telling that person your feelings. We can
relate to this but it wont be of value in our daily life.
Comedy movies can educate us and make us change into a different person as well. It allows us to look at things in a new light and possibly expand
your horizon to become a more optimistic person. The term optimistic means a person who has a positive outlook in life. Not many comedies has this
characteristic in their movies; however, one movie that does is Dumb and dumber. Both the characters were stupid, so they took something a person
would say and take it very literally.

Essay about violence in movies
If you watch movies these days you know you're sure to see some sort of violence whether it be a killing, beating, or some kind of cruel act. Now
every time you watch TV, you are likely to see a commercial promoting a new movie with a catch title such as "Scream" or "Fear." Whether you think
these movies are necessary or not, production companies know they will get the viewers and this is why they keep making them.
I was watching a movie the other day, with my lovely girlfriend of course, by the name of "The Matrix." The title caught both our eyes as we browsed
the aisles of the movie store searching for something good to watch. Seeing that my girlfriend does like violence in movies and thinks its unreal, it

Is it the suspense you can feel in your bones before the killer pops out of the shower? Whatever it is, it brings us back time and time again to watch
these violent movies. Today even movies with Disney hitched to their names contain small amounts of violence that is driving these thoughts of
aggression into our heads like a nail into a board.
Everyday I watch the news, and everyday I see some new story of a child who shot another kid or choke slammed another kid breaking his back or
some other meaningless act of violence. It seems that in more and more of these cases though, the children are blaming there stupidity on what they
saw in a movie the night before or what they watched on Monday Night Nitro. Are these just excuses for there acts or is this the main reason why
these kids are doing these things? I believe TV might play a partial role but in some cases the blame should be put on the parents. They need to teach
there kids that what they see on TV. is not real and should not be reenacted out in real life.
So as you can see, there is much violence in movies today, but whether you believe violence in movies is necessary or not, producers will keep
adding it to their movies and people will keep coming back to watch them. Violence is everywhere these days. In movies, TV, video games, even
Saturday morning cartoons. Taking violence out of all these things might lower our

My Favorite Movie Essay
Do you have things that you like to do with others or by yourself? I love to watch movies with others and by myself. I really enjoy watching movies
that I don't mind what kind of movie it is. I like fantasy movies the best or non–fiction because most of the time it is filled with new creatures or new
world. An example can be the movie Avatar. Avatar is one my favorite movies because it a totally different world with different types of species
with a different language. I think that by doing something with others it creates a bigger bond between each other. Since I was small until today I
have loved disney movies. They are one of the best types of movies. I think music is a really important thing in life. Some people hear music to
feel happy. Others hear music just to feel relaxed. I hear music because it helps me fall asleep, it makes me happy, and it also relaxes me a lot.
Since I can remember I have been singing and dancing to music. At the moment I have two favorite bands CNCO and Why Don't We. CNCO is a

My Favorite Movie Essay
Every person can relate to being asked the question: "What's your favorite movie?". Most of the time this is a very tricky question for people to
answer, simply because there are so many viable options to chose from. Strangely enough, if you were to ask a movie director or producer what their
favorite films are, they'd give you a straightforward and honest answer consisting of only one or a few different titles that come to mind. As strange as
it sounds, directors who have grown up or become accustomed to the Film Industry usually have strong set opinions and perspectives that tend to
reflect in their own projects and exploits, even though they are continually surrounded by all sorts of inspirations and potential influencers. Contrary to
what you might expect, these directors, editors, producers, and creators tend to remain very set in their ways and adapt their works into forms of
reflectives stemming from their everyday perspective. My own aunt, Devin Adair, has worked in the film industry for nearly two decades, during which
she has spent time in commercial, television, independent and studio film markets, finally chasing her own dream of creating her own masterpiece of

Essay on Film Making
Film Making
Film production phases
Film production is the process of making a film starting from the story or idea through scriptwriting, shooting to the distribution of the movie to the
audience. There are four main phases involved in film making.
Development phase
In the development phase, the film is written from the story (Cones, p. 195). The story may come from a book, a play, another film or an original
idea developed by the film producer. During the development of the film, the film producer works in corroboration with the film writers to develop
the film message and a theme of the message. They then prepare a synopsis of the film. The film producer and the writers then prepare a step outline

It is aimed at making the film ready to be distributed to the viewers (Barbara and Sphor, p. 1–3). In this phase, the production scripts and items are
assembled to make a complete movie. According to Barbara and Sphor (2002), activities involved in the post–production phase include film processing
and printing. Moreover, the pictures and the sound are synchronized in the post–production phase, and an assemblage created. After the movie has been
completed, it is then ready to be distributed to the viewers.
Narrative films
According to Pramaggiore and Wallis (p. 8), narrative films produce comedy or tragedy. Therefore, in narrative films, viewers expect the stories of
human actors that produce comedy or tragedy due to circumstances. According to Pramaggiore and Wallis (p. 8), viewers of narrative films would
expect to see stories about people who in the attempt to achieve certain objectives or goals undergo through various obstacles on their way.
Mise–en–scene
This is a term used in film production and that is concerned with the way the story is told in a film (Gibbs, p. 5–10). As such it refers to all the
elements of visual styles used in the film. Mise–en–scene refers to all components of the film composition including the film composition, film
framing, camera and character movement, film lighting as well as the sound used in the film composition.

About Comedy Films Essay
About Comedy Films
Our exam topic is based on Comedy films. Comedy is very individual and subjective. Comedy is inherent, different audiences find different things
funny. Recently we had just seen a movie called, "There's Something about Marry," starring Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller. This is a prime example of a
comedy film.
Comedy Films "make me laugh" – they elicit laughter from the audience. Comedies are light–hearted dramas, designed to amuse and provoke laughter.
The comedy genre exaggerates the situation, the language, action, and characters. Comedies observe the deficiencies, foibles, and frustrations of life,
providing merriment. Providing a momentary escape from day–to–day life, they...show more content...
Screwball comedies, predominant from the mid–1930s to the mid–1940s, are light–hearted, often sophisticated, romantic stories, commonly focusing
on a battle of the sexes in which both co–protagonists try to outwit or outmaneuver each other. They usually include visual gags, wacky characters, a
fast–paced improbable plot, and rapid–fire, wise–cracking dialogue reflecting sexual tensions and conflicts in the blossoming of a relationship (or the
patching up of a marriage) for an attractive couple with on–going, antagonistic differences. The couple is often a fairly eccentric, but well–to–do female
interested in romance and a generally passive or weak male who resists romance. (Stereotypical men) However, after a twisting and turning plot,
romantic love usually triumphs in the end.
Black Comedy is a popular sub genre of comedy films, these are dark, sarcastic, humorous, or sardonic stories that help us examine otherwise ignored
darker serious, pessimistic subjects such as war, death, or illness.
Spoof films mock other movies. And a great example of this is a very recent film which has two parts to it, is Scary Movie. This film takes the
mockery out of the horror genre. Spoof films normally called Parody movies, exaggerate and over play illogical in an existing film genre. They used
to be teenage slasher movies.

My Greatest Movies Essay
There are remarkably multiple amazing movies to choose from.If I had to pick 10 of the greatest films of all time they would include suspense and
action. The list of movies that I have picked out are in my opinion the greatest films of all time. In the cinema, there are hundreds and hundreds of
memorable moments and scenes from many films. The reason behind this is because the ten movies that I have picked out have compelled me to
''relive'' the moment. Therefore they give me a memory that I will hold on to.
If a movie changes you mine it's not because of your reasoning it's because of your emotions that you feel towards the movie. My 10 greatest films
must be films that fascinate me and pull me in quickly. They need to embezzle my attention and keep me entertained at all times.
Therefore my 10 greatest films are:
1) Moana
After seeing this movie multiple times, this movie is by far my favorite film. It's not because it is a disney film or even a kids movie it's because all the
elements in this movie was well executed. The animation of this film was done beautifully and done with great detail. In the film you can tell how
much time and effort was put in and how the animators took the time to work on each section of the movie. The soundtrack of moana was beautifully
written and composed. Another reason that moana is my number one movie is because she is not a princess. In the movie she is trained to be the
chief and wants be for her island and her people. In addition to that the characters in the film that we encounter are very compelling. We watch them
change, and grow and react throughout the movie. Lastly, the story was very strong Moana had conflicts, and goals and knew how to overcome the
conflicts to get to her goals.
2) The Hunger Games
One of the main reasons why I chose The Hunger Games as my second choice is because it is a very intense and suspenseful movie. In this film
what I really liked was that there was love, loss and explosion. You never knew what was going to happen which I enjoyed because I knew it was
going to be a very superb movie. The actors and actresses in this movie were picked out marvelously. Each character in this movie played their part as
if the Hunger Games existed. The

Women in Movies Essay
Women in Movies Since the 1940's, movies have predominately portrayed women as sex symbols. Beginning in the 1940's and continuing though the

or as conniving and beautiful: But she was always beautiful. Before the 1990's, men alone, wrote and directed all the movies, and the movies were
written for men. In comparison, movies of the 90's are not only written and directed by women, but leading roles are also held by older and
unattractive women. In this paper I will show the variations and growth of women's roles in movies from the 1940's though the 1990's.

Even if one plans on becoming a director and not a screenwriter one needs to know what kind of scripts to look for. This is very important for a
beginning small movie director since the reader will most likely be writing their own scripts to get some recognition. A script is a document that
outlines every aural, visual, behavioral, and lingual element required to tell a story, according to the dictionary definition at www.Wikidpedia.org. It
is crucial to remember that film is a visual medium. One doesn't tell the audience the story, one shows them. So what one will be writing is not a
novel but more like explaining a dream on paper. One must learn to write a screenplay visually. As famed director Darren Aronofsky said in an
interview with a struggling screenwriter trying to get published,
"Most of what one writes that doesn't work on screen will just be improvised on the movie set".
There are many important requirements for screenplays that may seem like minutia at first glance but the format of ones script is extremely important
since it will be submitted along with hundreds of others to one producer. For example, the main font in use in the U.S. by both publishers and the

main character, Mookey, we are shown the multiple relationships and often typical stereotypes of racial groups. This movies is filled with symbolism
and imagery that feeds to the story's plot. Throughout the movie, the scorching heat is always being refereed to. As the movie goes on , the heat rises.
I think this is done to represent the increasing racial tension within the neighborhood. The movie uses many situations to paint a picture of the racial
tension and inequality.

They are all blacks.
Yet a third conflict occurs between residents of the neighborhood and the Korean owners of convenience. Here there is a small language barrier that
leads to some of the frustration. Another, larger part of the problem is that residents see the majority of the business in their (black) neighborhood as
being owned by non blacks. This serves to create anger toward the owners of these business. The residents think that unfair that things are this way.
A fourth incident occurs when a white male is walking his bike across the street and accidentally scuffs the kicks of one of the neighborhood blacks.
The black guy get very upset because the white man did not apologize, and begins to chase after him. The black guy catches the white guy and starts to
reprimand him and threatened him. The white man then responds by saying that the neighborhood is his.
The movie ends in a final confrotation at Sal's in which the police are called and a local black resident of the neighborhood is killed by the police
while they are trying to restrain him. This actoin by the police sets the other black residents off. They begin to riot and proceed to destroy Sal's pizza
joint. They almost destroy the Korean store too, except that the owner keeps yelling that he is one of them (black). This act seems to satisfy the mob.

Gender Roles In Movies Essay

  • 1. Gender Roles in Movies Essay Gender Roles in Contemporary Film and Music The representations of women in film. In contemporary film women's roles in films have varied quiet considerably between genres, geographical placement, and between period settings. These factors contribute to the different representations of women's roles in the film they are present in. These roles are diverse going from the traditional maternal role to that of manipulative murderer. In contemporary media these roles are given higher status, in the pass the highest a female role could be at most was a side–kick or a co–star, they were given the title leading lady if they were at there best and yet they would always be second best. However, in present times in more...show more content... This is in complete contrast to that which is portrayed of the male figure in the films of contemporary times and even in the early years of the film business and yet in comparison to today there is a great variation to the representations. They have moved on a lot in comparison to the older films and yet in contemporary films it is not as noticeable as we live in a more liberated time for women yet the 'film business still is pre–dated in comparison' to the position of women within the maintenance of society as this is not a representation of the 'social realism' of the times we are presently in. This is noticed when we compare it with the male representations the in especially of contemporary times. The representations of men in films. In contemporary film the men's roles in the films have been quiet constant in their representation of the male gender in the films by which they are depicted. Just like in past films the male roles have usually been in the lead thus the representation of the men are that of their leadership qualities Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Favorite Movies Essay Have you ever thought about what kind of movies you have watched and why you have watched them? Ever since I was a child, I always liked watching movies that had unique and interesting characteristics in it. My parents told me that when I was a child I never wanted to watch movies that were long and had boring plot. They tell me that I was very fussy on what movies I wanted to watch, and that I always watched movies that encouraged or taught kids something good about behaviour or environment.. Since my parents told me this, I can now very much relate to my childhood and I think that I have not changed at all. This is because I am still very picky about the movies I watch. All the movies should have certain characteristics such as acting, villain, and plot in order to be considered good movies by the audience. Without a good actor in a movie, the movie will seem mundane to the audience watching it. One of the movies that I think has good acting is Home Alone. In this movie, there is a boy name Kevin who is left behind at his house while his family goes on a vacation. This movie is all about how Kevin, an eight year old boy, faces difficulties while he is alone at his house and learns that two burglars are planning to rob his house. I think this movie is great and entertaining because it shows how an eight year old kid deals with the robbery that was going to take place in his house all by himself. Another movie that I believe has good acting is Star Wars– The Force Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Racism In Movies Essay Is racism shown through TV by actors playing stereotypical roles? While clear that races tend to get stuck in the same stereotypical roles, that does not overshadow all the diverse roles that actors play. Racism is not shown through television by actors playing stereotypical roles. Some races simply portray a character type better than others or the general public already has a generalization about what race a character type is. Actor/Actress's also accept the same type of roles as that they're both are comfortable with and excel at. Take shows like The Haves and The Have Not's (perry 2013) and Empire (Daniels and Danny 2016) for example. In The Haves and The Have Not's; the "Haves" are portrayed as a white family with very high standing power and extremely well off. While the "Have Not's" are portrayed as a middle class/ impoverished black family. In the show one of the characters decides she is tired of that life and does many...show more content... For example, we have an actor like Liam Neeson; he always plays these badass characters that are always some type of ex spy or cop. He is offered many diverse roles to do however, he always plays that type of character because that is probably what he feels the most comfortable playing. Same goes for an actor like Morgan Freeman. He also always plays the same stereotypical insightful and wise character. Not because he gets stereotyped into it but rather it's because it's what he enjoys doing. Everyone, especially artists have their niches and things that they excel at, actors are no exception. Color does not have more of an influence on whether an actor gets a stereotypical role but rather what type of role they are comfortable with playing. If they happen to always be the same thing then one can't just force them to do something they don't want to do and the character wouldn't come off as believable if they were forced into it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. My Favorite Movie Essay As 2016 draws to its inevitable close, it's time for me to look back on the (literally) hundreds of movies I've seen this year and decide which ten were my absolute favorites. A heady task, I know– but someone who calls himself "The Black Saint" has gotta do it. And since I'm the only person around here in the depths of Gruesome Manor that answers to that name, I guess that task falls to me. But before I get to the final ten, I'd like to give shout outs to some films that I enjoyed out of the horror genre. Films like Deadpool, which took the whole superhero genre and freshened it in a most ribald, hilarious and unexpected way. Captain America: Civil War is pretty much my favorite superhero movie so far, I loved its intrigue, action, and flat out incredible battle scenes. Having the Black Panther and Spider–Man in the mix didn't hurt any either. Marvel films went 3 for 3 this year with the release of Doctor Strange, which (in IMAX 3D) was the first superhero film to actually make me feel like I was in another dimension. A real experience to witness in the IMAX format. Getting back to the horror genre, Green Room was one of the most harrowing films of the year for sure, with scenes of violence that still make me wince when I think of them. Larry Kent's She Who Must Burn is more morality tale than horror film, but it's scenes of horror are about as potent as any I've witnessed this year, it features villains that I truly despised, and an ending that stayed with me for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Movie Compare And Contrast Essay Difference between the movies The introduction to this research paper will be about the differences and similarities of the three different movies of romeo and juliet. It will explain the kind of technology and the way the people dress, how they live, the way they transport. It will begin by describing the stories based on the movies and also characters and their roles. The type of race and what was different in each other's movies. What are the differences in the three movies of Romeo and Juliet? There are many differences in all three of the movies but at the same time there are also similarities in them. Starting with the differences, First the Major difference is the setting the time and place. Those are some of the major differences out of all the movies also including the time. Other differences would be the characters the technology depending in the time and place, example 1996 and 1968 would be the way the people fought and the way how to attack one another. In the movie of 1996 the Characters were to use guns and cars but in the movie of romeo and juliet ...show more content... • 6. Movie Theater Experience Experiencing Film in Theaters Watching movies is probably one of my favorite activities, it does not matter if the movie good or bad; I just want to watch them. I loved going to the theaters as a kid because the entire experience was always so exciting, especially since it was the first thing my mother let me do out on my own. Going to the movies had always been a blessing but as I have grown I have made an effort to go less often. While the experience is still the same I just notice just how bad the overall experience can be as well. Honestly, the best part of watching a movie in theaters is the movie theater experience; for example the seats, the popcorn, the large screen, the sound system, the people, and the new releases. It is not just you in your room watching a movie, it is you reacting to the film and to the people around you around you as well, all the while getting all these over the top elements as well. Movie going takes a common experience and amplifies it so it feels like you're getting something even greater. Plus, my favorite part for any film has always been the trailers; the exciting bits and pieces of coming films thrown together to entice future visits. With fast paced action and cliffhanging details that are thrown in the 2–3 minute time frame, I am left wanting to come back and see that movie when it comes out. It is how they reel me in and keep me coming back in regular intervals. I have also gotten really into staying for the credits as well Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Television Vs Movies Essay Before there was television and motion pictures (movies), people used to spend their leisure time listening to the radio. They were offered little variety and often routinely listened to the same things. In the late 1800's and early 1900's, motion pictures and television were invented, respectively. In the beginning, they were considered luxuries. As time wore on, they became increasingly more and more popular. Today they are both extremely common forms of entertainment. Though they are both very popular, they are also very different. Going to the movies offers a complete escape from everyday life for a few hours at a time. In movies, a story can usually be told from beginning to end in a short period of...show more content... There are dozens of different movies to choose from but once you make that decision, for the most part, you are stuck with it. Choosing which movie to see is also often an issue. When there are several people involved, deciding on which movie to see is often difficult. Also, when people go to the movies, they do not have the luxury of being in their own homes. Frequently, people choose to stay home and watch television over going out to the movies. Television offers many things that going to the movies does not. TV offers viewing in the comfort of one's own home. When watching TV, one has the option of doing several other tasks at the same time. You might prepare dinner, do some homework, or talk on the phone, all while watching TV. The time that you invest in TV is completely variable. You might watch a program for a half an hour or you might watch a TV movie for two hours. There is no commitment involved in watching TV. If for some reason you do not like the program that you are watching, at any time you can simply change the channel and watch something else. If something comes up and you are unable to watch a program, you can easily insert a video tape in to your VCR and record the program to watch at a later time. There is always a variety of programs to watch and there is always something for everyone. Television shows rely on stories that last for long periods of time to keep viewers interested. They keep going on and on, sometimes for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Whiplash Film Analysis Damien Chazelle's critically acclaimed American drama film Whiplash (2014), presents a thought–provoking and confronting depiction of volatile and manipulative relationships, in which Andrew Niemen, a young ambitious jazz drummer is pushed to the brink of his ability and sanity by his ruthless teacher, Terence Fletcher. Nieman's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into an obsession. Whiplash proving highly popular with audiences utilizes cinematography to explore the central themes, the battle between being a good person and being remembered and the effects of a volatile and manipulative student–teacher relationship. Whiplash utilizes conventions and ideas from the drama genre to communicate these central themes and film ...show more content... However, now Neiman's gradual spiral into an obsession for greatness has driven him to breaking point. The car crash scene is the turning point in Nieman's character. His pursuit of perfection and greatness has blinded him. At this point Neiman has lost his old self completely, his dialogue is arrogant and hostile, he no longer cares for his band members or anything apart from greatness. His gradual change of behaviour is evident through his dialogue 1:03:28 when Nieman is on the telephone to one of his band members, he starts cursing and using profane language, similarly to Fletcher. Drumming has become his life, he is no longer concentrated on being a good person instead he is focused on being remembered, as demonstrated after the car accident, Nieman is determined to succeed and please Fletcher, thus continuing to play. As he plays every excruciating beat, his blood drips onto the drum set; representing the pain that he is willing to go to achieve success. Neiman's madness is stopped by Fletcher's two words: "You're done". Along with lighting and dialogue, the volatile and manipulative relationship between Fletcher and Nieman is explored through Chazelles use of cinematography. Music, editing, and camera angles are used by Chazelle to explore the effects of a volatile and manipulative student–teacher relationship. The cinematography and music used throughout the scene intensify the volatile relationship Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Why Comedy Movies Are So Great Essay There are many forms of expression inside of everybody; however the most common form is laughter. The sound of laughter can be heard all around the worlds every second, it helps us relieve stress and makes us feel better about ourselves. Comedy movies play such an important role in helping us laugh. There are many forms of movies out there today. In spite of the recent incline in action and horror movies today, comedy movies has always been my number one choice because it gives people an opportunity to look at humor in life, it usually has a pointless, useless moral that we can relate to, and it allows you to look at things in a new light and possibly expand your horizon to become a more optimistic person....show more content... Many of the morals in a comedy movie can relate to us; however, it usually is a moral that is just useless facts that we don't need in our daily life. In the movie, Me, Myself, and Irene is an example of a moral that we can relate to but really don't need. In the beginning of the movie the character has found the love of his life, they get married and live a happy life until his wife finds another guy and they get divorced. At the end of the movie the main character finds another girl he really likes and was going to let her walk out of his life, until he realizes he is not going to be happy without her and stops her from leaving. The moral in the movie was that you shouldn't let a loved one go by without telling that person your feelings. We can relate to this but it wont be of value in our daily life. Comedy movies can educate us and make us change into a different person as well. It allows us to look at things in a new light and possibly expand your horizon to become a more optimistic person. The term optimistic means a person who has a positive outlook in life. Not many comedies has this characteristic in their movies; however, one movie that does is Dumb and dumber. Both the characters were stupid, so they took something a person would say and take it very literally. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay about violence in movies If you watch movies these days you know you're sure to see some sort of violence whether it be a killing, beating, or some kind of cruel act. Now every time you watch TV, you are likely to see a commercial promoting a new movie with a catch title such as "Scream" or "Fear." Whether you think these movies are necessary or not, production companies know they will get the viewers and this is why they keep making them. I was watching a movie the other day, with my lovely girlfriend of course, by the name of "The Matrix." The title caught both our eyes as we browsed the aisles of the movie store searching for something good to watch. Seeing that my girlfriend does like violence in movies and thinks its unreal, it ...show more content... Is it the suspense you can feel in your bones before the killer pops out of the shower? Whatever it is, it brings us back time and time again to watch these violent movies. Today even movies with Disney hitched to their names contain small amounts of violence that is driving these thoughts of aggression into our heads like a nail into a board. Everyday I watch the news, and everyday I see some new story of a child who shot another kid or choke slammed another kid breaking his back or some other meaningless act of violence. It seems that in more and more of these cases though, the children are blaming there stupidity on what they saw in a movie the night before or what they watched on Monday Night Nitro. Are these just excuses for there acts or is this the main reason why these kids are doing these things? I believe TV might play a partial role but in some cases the blame should be put on the parents. They need to teach there kids that what they see on TV. is not real and should not be reenacted out in real life. So as you can see, there is much violence in movies today, but whether you believe violence in movies is necessary or not, producers will keep adding it to their movies and people will keep coming back to watch them. Violence is everywhere these days. In movies, TV, video games, even Saturday morning cartoons. Taking violence out of all these things might lower our Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. My Favorite Movie Essay Every person can relate to being asked the question: "What's your favorite movie?". Most of the time this is a very tricky question for people to answer, simply because there are so many viable options to chose from. Strangely enough, if you were to ask a movie director or producer what their favorite films are, they'd give you a straightforward and honest answer consisting of only one or a few different titles that come to mind. As strange as it sounds, directors who have grown up or become accustomed to the Film Industry usually have strong set opinions and perspectives that tend to reflect in their own projects and exploits, even though they are continually surrounded by all sorts of inspirations and potential influencers. Contrary to what you might expect, these directors, editors, producers, and creators tend to remain very set in their ways and adapt their works into forms of reflectives stemming from their everyday perspective. My own aunt, Devin Adair, has worked in the film industry for nearly two decades, during which she has spent time in commercial, television, independent and studio film markets, finally chasing her own dream of creating her own masterpiece of film. Her, like many before, came into the industry bright–eyed and hopeful, awaiting the great and many potential opportunities. But she came to realize that the road leading there would have many twists and turns, each producing more and more speed bumps along the way. Her story is one of battling Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Comedy is inherent, different audiences find different things funny. Recently we had just seen a movie called, "There's Something about Marry," starring Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller. This is a prime example of a comedy film. Comedy Films "make me laugh" – they elicit laughter from the audience. Comedies are light–hearted dramas, designed to amuse and provoke laughter. Screwball comedies, predominant from the mid–1930s to the mid–1940s, are light–hearted, often sophisticated, romantic stories, commonly focusing on a battle of the sexes in which both co–protagonists try to outwit or outmaneuver each other. They usually include visual gags, wacky characters, a fast–paced improbable plot, and rapid–fire, wise–cracking dialogue reflecting sexual tensions and conflicts in the blossoming of a relationship (or the patching up of a marriage) for an attractive couple with on–going, antagonistic differences. The couple is often a fairly eccentric, but well–to–do female interested in romance and a generally passive or weak male who resists romance. (Stereotypical men) However, after a twisting and turning plot, romantic love usually triumphs in the end. Black Comedy is a popular sub genre of comedy films, these are dark, sarcastic, humorous, or sardonic stories that help us examine otherwise ignored darker serious, pessimistic subjects such as war, death, or illness. In the movie she is trained to be the chief and wants be for her island and her people. In addition to that the characters in the film that we encounter are very compelling. We watch them change, and grow and react throughout the movie. Lastly, the story was very strong Moana had conflicts, and goals and knew how to overcome the conflicts to get to her goals. 2) The Hunger Games One of the main reasons why I chose The Hunger Games as my second choice is because it is a very intense and suspenseful movie.
