The tragedy of Othello, written by William Shakespeare, presents the main character Othello, as a respectable, honorable, and dignified man, but
because of his insecurities and good nature, he is easily taken advantage of and manipulated by his peers and alleged friends. The dynamic of Othello's
character significantly changes throughout the play. The contrast is most pronounced from the beginning of the play to its conclusion, switching from
being calm and peaceful to acts of uncontrolled venomous rage. Othello's motivation in the play appears to be his love and concern for his wife

continued to be polite, respectful, and charming, saying things like, "It gives me wonder great as my content to see you here before me" (II.i.83). He

By the middle of the play Othello's mood and demeanor seem to shift from being peaceful and patient to very anxious, paranoid, and gullible. For
example when Othello is talking to Iago and Iago suggests that maybe his wife is not being faithful to him, it becomes Othello's obsession to get down
to the bottom of it and catch her. "I have been talking with your suitor here, a man that languishes in your displeasure / Who is't you mean / Why, your
lieutenant, Cassio. Good my lord" (III.iii.41–43). In this dialog between Othello and Iago, with just two sentences Iago causes Othello to lose trust in
his wife and believe she is being unfaithful to him which grows stronger and stronger each scene of the play. Because Iago is extremely cunning and
manipulative, he is able to control almost anyone he chooses and he is in control of Othello's emotions because he knows the things Othello fears.

Furthermore, the writer has used the "Inverted Pyramid" technique, meaning, all the key information is at the top with the least important are

Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,

As I look back on my English 101 experience, I have come to the conclusion that I have learned many new things that have improved my abilities as a

I now see myself as a writer who has learned new techniques to help improve my writing including style, word choice and the revision process.
Even though I see myself as a improved writer, I still believe I have plenty of room for improvement. When I first started English 101, I saw myself
as having a few good strengths and a lot of weaknesses as a writer. Some of my strengths included being able to write a good introduction minus the
thesis part. I also saw myself as knowing how to write a good conclusion that summarized what I talked about in my essay and being able to

When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but we can't live without them. Anyone can all look
back to a time in our lives where they wish someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All Americans

The tone of the article is serious and reflective, however it is clear and to the point. This helps the purpose of the piece come across more clearly. The
intended effect on the audience is reached as it stimulates the reader to reflect on themselves and other people, gently persuading the reader
unconsciously.
The structure of the article is clearly set out with a strong opening and ending. There is more descriptive language in the middle of the article as well
as facts and figures used to back up statements. This makes the piece simple to read but effective at the same time. The lexis which is used is more
challenging for the selected audience, 'acknowledge, desperation, judgemental.' The lexis would be much more simple compared to an article for a child.
The idea of helping the 'dark shadow of poverty fade' and 'reaching the light at the end of the tunnel' are used as figurative language features. This was
also used as emotive language to stimulate the audience and their emotions.
The successful aspects of this article include the lexis, which I have chosen to complement the genre, the shaping of the writing to the selected

Matthew Henry Concise Commentary
The first commentary that I read was "Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary." In reading this commentary I found it to be easy to understand what
this scripture is speaking about. It referenced about how God warns us about spending our time on worrying about the cares of this life. Not only
that but it broke it down so eloquently as to what we are to seek instead of things of in this life. Also, I like how it stated, "If we take care about our
souls and for eternity, which are more than the body and its life, we may leave it to God to provide for us food and raiment, which are less,"

In our lecture for this unit, the speaker lays out several helpful guidlines for interpreting works written in the genre of historical narrative. The final

My memoir tells the story of two very excited teenagers going on a camping trip. These two teens are me and my friend, Zach. During this trip,

I believe this was the best way to get my point across to my chosen audience. By writing it as a blog, I was able to keep my scenes short and detailed
so as to not bore the reader. I wrote about only the most plot and moral enhancing parts of the trip by using a journal–like concept of small blurbs
within strong imagery and metaphors. This has the ability to make the reader feel as though they were actually there through all the good, and the
bad. The reader is capable of getting a better understanding of the experience by being able to visualize it through the pictures, videos, and imagery
used to describe exactly how we felt. The images show just how beautiful the scenery was and how secluded we were from everything, giving the
audience a good visual of the situations we were put through with no help from our phones or the internet. The most effective sections of my blog
were the inclusions of internal monologue. I really tried to remember exactly how I was feeling and what I was thinking during each downfall in order
to accurately portray it. The sharp contrast between what I was thinking to myself versus how we physically kept being positive and continuing our
journey, shows the audience how it influenced our getaway. Just being willing to go on, no matter how disappointed I was feeling at times, was the key

I enjoy writing short stories because the activity allows me to express my creativity and speak my mind. However, I often have trouble finishing
compositions, and my English professors will often tell me I need to improve my work. Recently, I wrote a short story titled "Unexpected" for a
fiction–writing class and made countless changes to the tale based on several guidelines. The revisions to "Unexpected" have benefited my story, but
I could have done more to improve it. My original story served as an impromptu launching pad for the revisions, which expanded my work into a

But three methods of revisions helped me better understand the changes I made to my narrative. First, I printed my original work and jotted down
revisions based on 25 questions from a book I study in fiction class, What If? Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers. These notes helped me add a
wide variety of details to my story. Next, I typed my new story and used a grammar check website called PaperRater to improve the style of my
tale. This aspect includes, of course, grammar, but also transitional phrases (I am not sure if those are important in a short story) as well as

The color ambiguity or duality of the color symbology mentioned above is progressively demystified as we move through these pars as the author
clearly shows that the linkage is with lust and greed. The author then progresses to describe the others who seek the lady's attention. The Captain
who is supposed to be able to tell when danger approaches is also befuddled by the charms on show by the lady and so is the unattractive flat eyed
flat fish who even though too ugly to be a real contender satisfies himself by looking at her from the distance. This list of men who fall into her
trap is further expounded with the description of the gallants who 'circle' and try to make small talk ('fish pause so to nibble or tug) but all to no
avail. By now we start seeing the men and their antics as pathetic as it is pretty clear that the woman has already made up her mind. The poem ends
on a very blunt note. When the ice cream is being had the men are vying for the woman based on their looks, character and the like while the rich
magnate 'stayed to watch' During this time money became temporarily inconsequential but at the end of the day when the ice cream was finished, it is

My overall experience in English 1301 has definitely changed the manner in which I think, write, and read. I have learned a great deal in this
class, mainly on how to write an extended definition essay and also how to effectively include commentary in an essay. These new things as well
as many others that I have learned in this class will help me succeed in other classes. I believe these skills will help me succeed because I can
apply it to other essays I write and also discussions. I think something that I did not know very well when I came into this class was grammar. After I
took the first grammar quiz, I felt a little lost. This changed once the answer key was released and I really tried to understand the concept. I can now
