Summer of 2010,2011,2012
Research Experience
• Third Year Research project. Title: Characterisation of novel anti-mitotic
drug with Prof. Jonathan Higgins, Newcastle University
My project aim was to characterise an inhibitor of Haspin by studying its
effect on U2OS and HeLa cells. The drug was titrated by Western Blot and
IF and possible inhibition of other kinase was tested by Western Blot. Effects
of the drug on live cells was investigated on HeLa H4GFP cells through live
imaging
• Summer Studentship with Dr. Josana Rodriguez Sanchez, Newcastle
University, funding by Genetic Society
During my summer placement I investigated the role of cell polarity in C.
Elegans embyos through RNAi screening and confocal microscopy
• Summer school sulle Scienze della Vita, Life Learning Center, Bologna, IT
This project looked at effects of free oxygen radicals on a line of cancer cells
