2. Microphone
The prop is used to amplify the voice of a singer. The
prop will be clean as if it were never used. The prop
will be used in the studio to create the illusion that
the actor is singing the song in the background. The
prop will be used by the actor portraying the lead
singer. The prop will be seen frequently throughout
the video as shots of the band continue to appear.
The prop is important to set the scene as a
microphone is needed to convince the audience that
the actors being filmed are supposed to be a band.
The prop is relatable to the genre because the
microphone is used by indie bands in music videos.
3. Bass guitar
The bass guitar will be like new and will look like
new to give a pristine impression of the band.
The prop will be used by the actor portraying the
bassist. The prop can be seen frequently with
shots of the band as well as shots of just the
bassist. The prop is important to convince the
audience that the actor is a part of the band. The
prop is relatable to the indie genre as a bass is
used in indie music videos for the band to play.
There will also be a wire attached to the bass for
it to appear more realistic to an audience.
4. Guitar
The guitar will appear as like new. The prop will be used
by the acting guitarist. The prop will be seen frequently
throughout the video within shots of the band
performing as well as shots focusing on the guitarist
alone. The prop is relatable to the indie genre because
guitars are used by the guitarists of the band to
perform. There will also be a wire attached to the guitar
for it to appear more realistic to an audience.
5. Drum Kit
The drum kit will be used by the actor
portraying the drummer. They will
appear as new to create a pristine image
of the band. The prop will be seen
frequently in shots of the band
performing as well as shots of the
drummer performing alone in shot. The
prop is relatable to the genre as the
drum kit is used by drummers to perform
in a music video with a band.
6. Mobile Phone
The mobile phone is an iPhone which is a small
hand held device used for calling and texting.
It’s appearance will be like new with no cracks
or chips in the screen or the border of the
phone. The prop will be used by the main
protagonist to call his friend. The prop will only
be seen once as it is only required to bring two
characters together, so once their together
there is no need for the prop. The prop is
important as this is what brings two protagonists
together, and the narrative progresses from
there. The prop is relatable to my target
audience as most teenagers and young adults
will have a mobile phone, most likely an iPhone.
The model will be a 6s, a popular iPhone model
among young adults which makes the prop
relatable.
7. Car
The car is small and black and will be fairly
dirty to give the impression it is used daily and
is run by a young adult considering it is a
Dacia, one of the cheapest cars on the market.
The prop will be used by driving the two main
protagonists between different locations. The
prop will be used by protagonist 3, driving it,
and protagonist 1 as a passenger. The prop will
only be seen once and it is important because
this will establish how the characters travel
between different locations. This prop will
play a vital part in the narrative as it is the
explanation on how the characters change
location so frequently. . The image to the left
is also the same car I will be using in the
video.
8. Pool cue & pool balls
The props of a pool cue and balls are equipment used
to play the game ‘pool’ inside the location of the
pub, a popular game often played in pubs and other
social purposed buildings. The prop will be used as
normal to play the game, using the cue to hit the
balls on the pool table. The props will be used by
both antagonist’s 1&3 as they will be playing against
each other. The prop will be seen within 2-3 shots to
demonstrate a variety of angles within the scene all
shot around the pool table. The prop is relevant to
my target audience as young adults and teenagers
will often play a game of pool whilst drinking in the
pub. This relates to my idea as pool is a timeless
game in which was also popular in the 80’s, the time
of which my chosen song was released.
9. Pint Glass
The prop is a glass most associated with beer/
general alcohol which suites the location it will be
interacted within as it will be used in the location
of a pub (internal). It will have foam from the beer
overflowing on the side of the glass after the two
protagonists have used it to ‘cheers’ their glasses.
The prop will be used to drink from by both
protagonist 1&3. The prop will be seen a total of
three times; a shot of the protagonists drinking
from them together, a shot of the boys clanking
their glasses together, and within the shot featuring
the pool table in the pub. This fits with my idea as
drinking is usually associated with good times and
happiness, which links to how my characters will
feel in the pub.
10. Bowling ball
The bowling ball is a piece of equipment
required to play ‘bowling’, a popular
social game played at bowling alleys.
The props will be used to play the game
by both protagonists 1&3. The prop will
be seen in every shot featured in the
location of the bowling alley as the
friends play their game . The prop is
used to set the scene so that it appears
the characters are playing the game of
bowling within the building dedicated to
bowling.
