Weekly Newsletter - How Does the State Intervene in Your Body
1. HOW DOES THE STATE
INTERVENE IN YOUR BODY?
July 11th, 2013
In many opportunities we have told you about the risks of the state interfering in different areas such as the economy
(through price controls, taxes, protecting certain industries and subsidies) or politics (through authoritarian governments).
What we haven’t told you about is what happens when the state intervenes in your personal decisions and how this affects
your life, your body and what you choose to do with them.
In this newsletter we show you some parts of your body over which the state has some sort of influence, and why it is important to understand that it its you (not the politician of the moment) who makes decisions in your life!
Your mind: Most politicians assume you can’t make
your own decisions and will assist you through
measures such as forced savings (pensions) or prohibiting practices that they consider harmful to you.
How you express yourself: The recent decree prohibiting you from damaging the prestige of a presidential candidate is an example of how the state
regulates the way you express yourself.
Your labor: The state dictates regulations
which prohibit you from defining freely the
conditions under which you offer your talent and effort.
How you enjoy the fruit of your labor: Many
times the state dictates how you use or enjoy
the fruit of your labor: your riches, limiting
goods and services you can acquire or protecting some particular producers.
What you consume: You must be responsible for your own decisions, but the state
limits what you can eat, smoke or drink. It
also limits the conditions which you do and
even the times of day these are allowed.
Your sentimental life: Should the state be able to
tell you who you share your life with and under what
conditions?
Your mobility: The state tends to regulate your
mobility establishing bureaucracy and limits to
go where you want to.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO YOU?
In CREO we are convinced that no one knows better
than you what is good for your life and happiness.
Liberty implies not initiating violent conducts against
the life, liberty and property of another individual..
This means you should have the liberty to decide
freely on your life and be responsible for your decisions.
That is the non aggression principle. If an individual is
not allowed to hurt the liberty of another individual,
why would a group of individuals called a “state” be?
This is known as self ownership. YOU (and no one else)
ARE THE OWNER OF YOUR LIFE!.
Lets question the logic of regulations we take for
granted and learn how to protect our freedom!
