1. UPGRADING OF THE DEI-DEI RURAL HEALTH CENTER
- PROGRAM REPORT
Preamble:
As part of its commitment to improving the state of health care, and fulfil its corporate
social responsibility, Mobil Producing Nigeria implements strategic health plans in Nigeria
targeting to reach the poor, vulnerable and the hard to reach.
Through strategic partnerships, the organization contributed sustainable gains to the
health indices of dwellers of Dei-Dei community in Abuja Federal Capital Territory through
the provision of medical, emergency and diagnostic equipment for use in the Dei-Dei rural
health center.
Mobil Producing partnered with a local organization Community Health Empowerment
Foundation (CHEF)
Partnership
Mobil Producing worked with a Local Partner Community Health Empowerment
Foundation (CHEF) to implement the activity. CHEF has worked for more than eight years
in the Federal Capital Territory distributing long lasting insecticidal nets, organizing
malaria control awareness, capacity building on maternal and child health sectors as well
as providing medical equipment and facilities to aid local and community based health
facilities.
Identification of Health Facility
Benchmarks used for the identification of health facility for upgrade included the following:
1. Situated rurally
2. Public health facility
3. Accessible to the served community
2. 4. High patronage
5. High volume antenatal attendance
Comprehensive Health Clinic Dei-Dei met the benchmarks and was selected as the
beneficiary health facility.
Needs Assessment:
In-depth assessment was conducted to ensure that the critical needs of the facility was
identified and documented.
Key informant interview was conducted on the three key senior staff of the health facility
and the outcome of this was triangulated to arrive at the critical needs of the clinic.
Clinic was found to lack some basic infrastructural support elements like outpatient seats,
refrigerator for cool storage of drugs, basic diagnostic equipment and
antenatal/natal/post-natal apparatuses.
Critical Needs of CHC Dei Dei
CHC Dei-Dei is a comprehensive Health Clinic set up to cater for the needs of the
residents of Dei-Dei and surrounding communities. Clinic is manned by a full range of
health personnel including Doctors, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Nurses,
Midwives and other low cadre health personnel.
Attendance to clinic is very high and usual clinic days record over 200 patients ranging
from antenatal to clients who came for malaria and other minor ailment treatment.
Identified critical needs included the following:

Procurement and Supplies
Following the approval of the critical needs list, identified equipment were procured,
supplied and installed in the CHC Dei-Dei.
All equipment were test-run and found very functional after which the Doctor in charge
of CHC Dei-Dei took charge of all supplies.
Acknowledgement
The Medical Officers in charge of the CHC Dei-Dei expressed deep gratitude to Mobil
Producing Unlimited for the kind gesture in refurbishing and upgrading the facility and
pledged to take good care of the equipment.
The Management of Community Health Empowerment Foundation, CHEF hereby

in the execution of this project.
