Morgan State University will host the 2012 Maryland Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and Innovative STEM Conference from March 8-10. The event aims to connect local middle school, high school, and college students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields with hands-on demonstrations and opportunities to interact with Army technologies. Students will tour exhibits on campus and hear from senior Army leaders. The following two days, the symposium will be held at a local hotel where students will present their science and technology projects to be judged for participation in a national competition in May. and Engineering Community
ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. – Morgan State University will play host to an
army of Maryland’s future scientists and engineers at the 2012 Maryland Junior Science
and Humanities Symposium and Innovative STEM Conference. The local students
ranging from eighth grade to college will be joined by Army senior leaders for the three-
day event, March 8 – 10.
The event aims to connect students with science, technology, engineering and
mathematics opportunities through hands-on Army technology demonstrations, a
TriMathAlon competition, professional seminars and student presentations.
On March 8, students will tour exhibits from local government and industry
agencies at the Morgan State Hill Field House and interact with real Army technologies
from a number of APG-located organizations.
Additionally, attending students will hear from senior Army officials from
Aberdeen Proving Ground and learn more about career opportunities and future events
in STEM.
March 9 and 10, the symposium and Innovative STEM Conference will be at the
Baltimore Marriott Hunt Valley North and will feature presentations from local high
school and college students on various science and technology disciplines. Engineers
and scientists from APG will judge the student presentations for potential participation in
the national JSHS competition, May 2 – 6 in Bethesda, Md.
