Summer Money Goals
1. SUMMER MONEY
GOALS
La Kesha Landers, Program Director, Office of Financial Literacy
So you are at the end of finals week,
studying exhaustingly, anxiously attempting to wrap up those projects, individual, and
extra credit assignments. Oh, and did I mention the dreadful cleaning and packing since
most of you are headed back home to your families…ugh! The weather is happy, people
are out more, and the color of outside is so appealing! This is perfect for getting up with
your favorites, planning outings for the best kick-backs, and having the right fit for every
moment, the only thing is everything you plan going forward consist of money. Do your
best not to throw away all the fundamentals you have learned about money.
Remember money is mental first before anything.
When you return home to friends and family demonstrate how responsible you are with
your coins. Add something new to your summer goals. Do the unexpected and
SURPRISE yourself. While enjoying your summer plans create comfortable routines to
get yourself in the practice of (1) good time management. Incorporate personal time to
(2) create a spending plan to ensure you are paying yourself first, saving and meeting
your summer (3) financial goals. Putting goals into place and practicing them for 30
days creates habit. Challenge yourself this summer, and trust this will make matters less
stressful for you when it is time to return to school.
Look at it this way using simple math. If you were to save $2 a day for 30 days you will
have $60 at the end of the month. Very elementary right? Believe it or not with this
example of elementary math over 68% of the US population is barely saving. Trust that
someone is always watching and asking questions. You should know that you can have a
positive impact on another with how to manage money based on your fundamental
knowledge. https://www.saltmoney.org/index.html?Type=MasterMoney
