Christianity And Religion Essay
What is Christianity? Some might say that Christianity is simply the belief in Jesus Christ. They would be correct, but Christianity is so much more
than that. It is also the belief that Jesus Christ died for our sins and just like he came back from the dead, he will come back once again for all who
have faith in him and for those who do not will wish they had. It is also the belief that God is the Trinity which is the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost.
In my opinion, Christianity is made up of a few things: understanding the basics of the bible, faith in Jesus Christ, and spreading the word of God.
Christians believe everything that either was or is was created because of one man, God. In Genesis of the bible it says, "In the beginning God created

Salvation is not difficult or even lengthy. It is more of a mental process than physical. Being saved is not a process to be saved from troubles or pain.
It is actually the process of being saved for all sins committed. One must know the sins they have committed, regret or hate past decisions to sin, and
know they will try not to do so again. Salvation is a life changing process for Christians and also includes commitment. Usually baptism is performed

Reflection About Christianity
This composition will give you information on why I chose the topic Christianity. What is compelling about this issue and why is it important in the
study of religion? This assignment and the content within it will explain the significance of Christianity across all religions studied. The information in
this composition will show in what ways Christianity is significant for religious beliefs. I will give you, the reader an example of how this religion,
have a profound effect on my life, and the area I reside. What impact does Christianity have on the everyday lives of people who practice Christianity
in my area? The Holy Trinity is the doctrine of Christianity believes God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is one, but it's the
underlying belief for Christians because it's an intricate part of Christianity. It's my opinion, it's the basic principles of Christians obedience and faith. It
inspires significant principles about connection and commonality. (Fisher, 2017) "Christianity is based on the life, teachings, death, and the
resurrection of Jesus. Jesus lived about 2,000 years ago in the Roman–occupied Palestine. He taught for three years and was crucified by the Roman
government on charges of sedition. Since then his death is celebrated throughout the world since the sixth century and has been used as a major point
from which society is measured."

Definition Essay On Christianity
In today's society the word "Christian" can mean many different things for everyone. Often times the word gets terrible labels on it such as: two–faced,
unreal, fake, or in other words, a hypocrite. This label that the word "Christianity" gets can mostly come from the fact that many Christians say one
thing, but live something entirely different. There is a huge pressure on Christians to live their lives perfect without sin which is impossible to do. The
definition of the word Christian can be described as a follower of Christ or someone Christ–like. This is a very difficult lifestyle for Christians to live
up to because no one is perfect, we sin everyday so when someone see's a Christian is doing something bad or unchristian they point fingers...show

For example, if an outsider looking into to give Christianity a chance, giving their life to Christ, but sees a "Christian" that goes to church on a daily
basis doing drugs or drinking outside of church, how do you think that makes not just the person, but also Christianity look? It makes it look like that
person does not really care about what they believe in. It destroys the whole meaning of Christianity, follower of Christ or Christ–like. That's not to say
that Christianity is easy because it's not, everyone falls short, but I think it's important to realize that we're not perfect and that's okay, but we need to
live up to the potential that God created us to be. He created us to be Christ–like in his own image. He knows that we're going to sin because we're
human, that's what his grace and forgiveness is for and for us to learn from our mistakes, not to intentionally make them over and over again, that's not
growing to be Christ–like. Growing to be Christ–like is diving into his word, being aware and learning from the mistakes we make through God's grace,
and loving others. I think that's the most important message that outsiders looking into Christianity need to

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis Essay
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
Mere Christianity, by C. S. Lewis, is written as set of guidelines of Christian belief. Lewis does not say there is any particular way to believe but he
does make a point that the topic of religion itself is serious. As you consider whether you want to believe or not, you have to recognize how much
thought it requires, and how thought provoking a process this decision is. Lewis covers Christianity in four different books within his book. In book
one, Lewis discusses the Law of Nature and makes note of a tendency in humans of appealing to a standard of absolute truth in quarrels and
arguments. He calls this standard the Law of Nature or the Moral Law. The Law isn't the same as the law of gravity...show more content...
Lewis' argument in the third book is most important to the point I want to discuss. He argues through this chapter the Christian behavior.Morality is
what he considers to be the basics of good Christian behavior. Lewis states that morality is not simply, "something that prevents you from having a
good time", but rather morals are the "directions for running the human machine". Every moral rule is there to prevent wear and tear on the way
machine operates. He realizes that is why the rules seem to be constantly getting in the way of are natural behavior. Lewis sees that some people
think in terms of moral ideals not rules and obedience. Ideals suggest preference to personal taste. Something that subjective would be meaningless
in practice. Idealistic notions are meaningless unless we try to carry them out. Acting on ideals requires rules. Lewis uses the analogy of the ship to
show how ideals without rules can go wrong. If the ships keep on having crashes they will not be able to sail. If their steering gears do not work they
will not be able to avoid crashes.
The cardinal virtues are seven virtues that help guide us to have good morality. Prudence is the first virtue and is having the common sense enough to
think about what you are doing and what are the consequences. Temperance is finding moderation in your lifestyle. Justice includes traits like honesty,
the ability to give–and–take, keeping promises, and so on. Fortitude includes two kinds of courage: the

What Is Religion? Essay
What is religion? Each person's definition of religion is different. Each person's faith is different. This is a question that has been asked for
centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared
beliefs who feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come from outside of themselves, as well as
within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly.
It can be said the Primal religions were in fact not religions. Some may argue Confucianism is not a religion. Others may say Taoism is not a...show

They are teachings learned by previous generations then passed down, they are not always actions. The fifth feature of religion is grace. Grace is
defined by Smith as "the belief and assurance that reality is on our side and can be counted on." Lastly there is mystery. For this there is no exact
definition, but it is all of what a religion cannot explain, it is all that the human mind cannot grasp, it is the certain "higher power" that religion offers.
Of these six features, there are three that are present in most all religions, they are: authority, tradition, and mystery. Authority, tradition, and mystery
further explore and define religion when looking specifically at Primal Religions, Confucianism, and Taoism. Primal Religions are often mistaken to
be the religion of the primitive man, often thought to be unintelligent. There is a definition of "primal" that is better suited than unintelligent or
primitive. Primal in terms of religion, refers to the lack of exposure to technology, it is not "knowing" the state of consciousness given to many by
the technological environment. Primal religions preceded organized religion as we know it today by thousands of years, in some cases millions, but
are still present in the world today; we now call them tribal religions. Within primal religions there are people who are knowledgeable about life, who

Christianity And Its Impact On Society
Christianity and the impact it has placed in society has shaped and stripped, modified and divided, comforted and enlightened the world. Christianity
has managed to delve into every aspect of human life. Christianity is in our way of life–science, education, technology and arts and has created the
environment of religious belief which managed to engrain its' ideals into a social, political and educational belief. Areligion such as Christianity is the
foundation from which society lives, breathes and thinks on. There are many that dispute this yet there is some insight and relevance on how our
freedom, choices and laws embody Christianity and it has done so since the beginning and still does so in the present. According to Rodney Stark it
is, "Christianizing the Empire" (The Triumph of Christianity, 2011). And it is from which the past, present and future empires stands upon. The
importance of understanding how Christianity blanketed humanity gives us a different view that is aided by evidence that it bears truth to its
meaning. The world we live in, society and culture in general has been driven by religion for thousands of years. Christianity historically has played
a significant role in shaping the modern day of society and culture. It is in the currency we use, the book in which we pledge our truth and honor to,
and the obedience, hesitance and laws in our everyday decisions in life. A very revealing and captivating set of research has publicized this to

Christianity Of Religion Essay
Religion: the best thing to ever happen to humanity or the one thing that is holding us back? While there are many arguments and testimonies that
support either side, there is a clear answer. Religion, specifically judeo–christianity, in the western world has an array of disastrous issues ranging from
bias teachings to abuse and hate crimes. There are countless examples of ways in which religion has, and is continuing to regress society's views and
morals. Ignorance and disdain from scientific fact, fear to act upon natural human impulse, innumerable human rights violations and of course wars on
religion, are topics rarely discussed due to the concern of offending those who have a relationship with the creator. I will not be discussing the...show

Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of our time said "Before we understood science, it was natural to believe that God created the universe, but
now science offers a more convincing explanation." He is absolutely correct. It is human nature to seek explanations for life's big questions.
Therefore, back when there was no understanding of much at all, the concept of God provided all the answers. Now, however, with research and
evidence to back up discoveries, it is irresponsible to completely reject them. In history, an example of this is Galileo's theory of Heliocentrism.
Because society was ruled by a theocracy at the time, it was said that the earth was the center of the universe and the sun revolved around it. Galileo's
theory that the earth revolves around the sun and the sun was the center of the universe, although not entirely correct, was an important breakthrough
for science. Galileo was convicted for having opinions that challenge scripture and was sentenced to house arrest until he died. Although nothing this
extreme occurs in the western world today, not much has changed in terms of belief. Today, most churches have realized how ineffectual it is to fight
science, and have claimed that there are in fact no contradictions between science and religion. This is a case of telling rather than showing. If churches
still continue to believe in events such as God creating the universe in six

Christianity
Christianity is a popular religion that saw its beginnings around two–thousand years ago in the Middle East. There are many forms of Christianity that
have spread throughout the world and have shaped our history in many ways. In fact, according to year 2000 version of the World Christian
Encyclopedia there are "33,820" different denominations of Christians around the world (1). The differences within the faith come from divisions
between one group, or another and are defined by their doctrine and church's spiritual authority. Issues such as who Jesus was as a person, the esteem of
apostolic succession, eschatology, and papal power also separate one denomination from another. Some groups do not consider themselves to be a

Argumentative Essay On Christianity
Shalom Professor, I am going to try being as respectful as I can possibly be while debating your opinion of my essay. However, I did call my
academic advisor immediately after researching my grade and your synopsis stating, "What you've presented here is an unconvincing argument that the
Christian and the transexual are both using the same rationale for their belief systems." Subsequently, letting him know that my professor thinks that I
need to research about Christianity, as my degree in Religion from Liberty does not make me sufficiently qualified to speak on its worldviews . While,
that stands as sarcasm (I am from NYC originally), nevertheless, it does accentuate the point, which, I am moving towards in my Ethical Research
essay. We make presumptive research evaluations based on our foundations of ethical belief.

Reflection On Christianity
Christianity Summative Reflection
Christianity is a religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. Most forms of Christianity hold that Jesus is the son of God. There are many
similarities between my faith, Roman Catholicism and my non–Catholic, group choice of Christian denomination, Jehovah's Witness. This branch of
Christianity, Jehovah's Witnesses, was formed by the WatchTower Society and also founded byJesus himself. Learning about a Christian Denomination
has changed my perspective of Christianity through the Jehovah's Witnesses history, beliefs/rituals, sacraments and how they spread the message of
God to others.
The history and beliefs/rituals of the Jehovah Witness branch of Christianity has altered my perspective of Christianity in general. Since the beginning
of the 19th century to the present day, the Jehovah's Witnesses have brought forth a different perspective about Christianity. The people of the
Jehovah's Witnesses community believe that Jesus is not the messiah, and do not believe in the Holy Trinity. They believe that Jesus is not the one to
worship because he is less than God too just as humans. This puts in perspective that God is the Father Almighty and no other person, or spirit is above
him. Before learning about Jehovah's Witnesses, I did not think there was this many branches of Christianity. I also thought every Christianity
denomination believed in the Holy Trinity as seeing The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. This topic has impacted

Christianity is the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Most followers of Christianity, called Christians, are members of one of
three major groups––Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Eastern Orthodox. These groups have different beliefs about Jesus and His teachings. But all
consider Jesus central to their religion. Most Christians believe God sent Jesus into the world as the Savior. Christianity teaches that humanity can
achieve salvation through Jesus. Jesus lived in Judea (later called Palestine), a Middle Eastern land ruled by the Romans. The Romans crucified Jesus
about A.D. 30. Jesus' followers were convinced that He rose from the dead, and they soon spread Christianity to major cities throughout the...show more

Two practices important to Christian worship usually take place in churches. These practices are (1) baptism and (2) the Eucharist, also called
Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper. The ceremony of baptism celebrates an individual's entrance into Christianity. The Eucharist represents the
Last Supper, the final meal that Jesus shared with His disciples. Worshipers share bread and wine in the Eucharist as a sign of their unity with each
other and with Jesus. Christians see Jesus as continuous with the God of Judaism. A collection of Christian writings was added to the Jewish
scriptures known as the Old Testament, or Hebrew Bible. The Christian writings, called the New Testament, record the life and teachings of Jesus.
They also describe the development of the early church and explain what faith in Jesus means. The Christian Bible includes both the Old and New
Testaments. Some Christian groups also accept as part of the Bible a collection of writings called the Apocrypha. The origin of Christianity Jesus'
ministry. Christianity originated in the ministry of Jesus. During His lifetime, Jesus preached the gospel, meaning good news, that God was coming
to earth to be among His people in a special way. Jesus called this special way the Kingdom of God. He warned His listeners to repent their sinful ways
to be ready for the approaching Kingdom of God. In urging

Christianity, Religion, And Religion Essay
Christianity, one of the western religion which is accepted by more than 30% of the world population. Actually, I am not part of this religion: I am
from Hindu religion, an eastern religion. In my religion, there are thousands of gods, but I don 't even know the name of more than 50 gods. Unlike
Hindu, in Christianity, there is only one God, Jesus Christ, who is the central figure in Christianity. Among the Christianity community, it is believed
that God sends his son to the earth to free the people from pain and suffering. For the salvation of the people son of God took an avatar of Jesus
Christ. It is also believed that Jesus came back after the third day of his death. As I am the person from a differentreligion, I find the different concept
of God in western religion. We, Eastern people worship many gods and we have many festivals to celebrate but in Christianity, people only follow to
Lord Jesus. For them, Christmas is their main festival as it is the birth date of Christ, Easter as the day that Jesus came back from his death.
According to the Christian mythology, Jesus was born from virgin women Mary. Nearly about 2,000 years ago, Mary was informed by the angel
named Gabriel that she would have a son, Jesus, who would be the son of god. And soon, Mary (the virgin women) gave birth to the Jesus Christ in the
stable. At the birth of the Jesus Christ, the angel tells some shepherds that their savior, Christ had already taken birth. Very soon, the news about the birth

Egyptian Religion 's Influence Over Christianity
Egyptian Religion's Influence Over Christianity Religion is present in almost every single culture in the world and has been for several thousands of
years. Egypt is one of the first known and recorded civilizations in the world and has been studied for as long as its artifacts have been founded. In the
discoveries of these artifacts, historians have found religious–like stories with Gods and supernatural elements. This is one of the first ever recorded
religions in the world and the religions that followed Egyptian religion have taken some influence from these stories, including Christianity.

Set in Egypt to avoid being killed because of Horus being Osiris's, the former king and Set's brother, son. While Horus was in hiding, he taught and

every day Horus won the battle against Set seeing as it was daylight and every night Set won the battle against Horus because it was dark. (Aneesh)
Horus was said to have performed many miracles, which is expected of a religious figure, and he even walked on water. Additionally, it was stated
that Horus was crucified and was then resurrected 3 days later when he was not found in his burial site. (Vento) One author even connected the thought
of him being the sun by saying, "The resurrection of Horus in large part represents the return of the sun from both its nightly and annual decent into the
darkness." (S) Some of these stories about Horus most likely seem familiar if someone was of the Christian faith.

Christianity Of Religion
The term religion is defined as the belief in and worshipping of a power superior to that of humans. Basically, all religions have the same purpose,
but the way this purpose is pursued can be very distinctive. The approach of these religious traditions can allow them to become very prosperous and
dominate. All religions possess a cherished text that contains the beliefs and practices specific to those followers. In order to attain a successful religion,
there must be a designated place and day for worship. Also, it is critical to have a trusted and honorable leader that is able to guide the congregation
into a successful worship service, or to act as the religious authority of a community. The ancient religions of Judaism, Christianity, and...show more

Christianity has been my religion and my identity for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a household with parents that pointed me to God every
chance they got and siblings that were in and out of the house going on various mission trips. From the very beginning, I have been rooted in the strong
faith that was shown to me, even though my age didn't always enable me to fully comprehend the basics of it. My family did not necessarily pile into
the minivan every Sunday in habit of going to church, but focused more on our relationship with God and the fellowship with friends that came
through that mutual love and connection. I was raised to go to Him with my weaknesses and to worship without ceasing. This was my beginning and I
have clung to those roots through the trials that have come my way. Since I was raised in this religion, there came a point where my observations were
not enough and I had to start forming my own opinions and beliefs. I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was about eight or nine although comically, I
am not sure if I truly meant it or was in it for the small piece of bread and grape juice that came with the acceptance. I was truly saved and baptized
in seventh grade at my small Christian school. When I first was saved, I do not believe I had a firm understanding of everything I was stating I
believed, but just prior to my baptism I became acutely aware of my humanness and need for a close relationship to God. What I learned from the

Personal Essay: Is Christianity The True Religion
Long time ago, I was told that Christianity was the true religion until a Muslim told me it isn't. So I studied their claims, then I asked, was Sunni or
Shia the true one? Then the answer was &@^&#в‚©%"*!. So I once decided to be a Hindu, then I met a Sikh that they don't agree with each other in
India. So I read about philosophy, then they complicate things by verifying or challenging almost everything. So I once convinced again that Christianity
is the true religion, then again there are 33,000+ sects in the world, each one saying that other sects, denominations or religion is incorrect, and those
who don't belong in their sect or denomination is a sinner or deserved to be punished forever. So, I decided not be a member of any religions on

Christianity And The Religions Essay
Christianity and the Religions Essay Man is called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and show as many people the way to eternal life, as
possible. Because we live in a world of philosophical, cultural, and religious diversity, it is imperative that we interact with people from all walks of
life. Christian dialogue with others from various religions can be enlightening – solidifying what we believe as followers of Christ. Accepting people
with their various faiths allows us as Christians the ability to gain insight into other beliefs, value systems, and the connections between culture and
religion – as well as inspiring personal reflection.
Calling to Proclaim the Gospel According to the 'World Council of Churches'– A worldwide fellowship of 349 churches seeking unity, a common

different faiths" (World Council of Churches, 2009). Too often religious identities are drawn into conflict and violence. Perhaps we are then engaging
in conversation and attempting to understand one another on the basis of ensuring peace. Or, maybe the definition of tolerance has elicited absolute
acceptance or fear, and 'open–mindedness' in the spirit of spiritual correctness. Our own prejudices regularly influence how we interact with those of
other faiths. Christians are as guilty as anyone in avoiding those different

Religion is the belief and worship of a higher power which is in control of the universe. The most popular religions in the world today are
Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. All four of these religions teach peace. However, followers do not always get along with each other
peacefully. All of these religions have a moral code to live by and encourage devotion and prayer. The religion ofChristianity is one of the prevalent
forms of religion, and it is most widely spread. There are over three billion followers and has many sects around the world. While each sect has
different customs, all Christians believe that there is only one God and creator of the universe. Within this God, there is God the father (creator of the
universe), God the Son (Jesus or Christ, the Messiah), and God the Holy Spirit (The actual presence of God that is in us or around us but is not
visually apparent). The people of this religion believe Jesus, born of a virgin mother, and died on the cross for our sins, and resurrected three days
later. Followers of Christ believe that Christ was God's son and the true Messiah, sent to earth to free us from our sins through salvation.

Christianity is a very developed religion and it resides mainly in the Western Culture. Followers up to 2 billion with a continuous rise as the world
population grows. "Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, and Protestant Churches are the largest groups" (Stefon et al) known to
Christianity. The life of Jesus and his teachings is the base of thisreligion. Jesus taught the way of God, whom is the creator of all and the father of
Jesus. He taught the people that living their lives in a certain manner, would end with eternal life after you have died. Jesus and his guidance was
becoming notorious; however, The Roman Government and Jewish leaders showed vast disapproval. Thus, leading to the crucifixion of Jesus where
he was executed upon the cross. Christians believe that 3 days after Jesus died he rose from the dead; therefore, giving the chance to his believers to
live eternal life after death. "Christianity is more than just a religious belief. It also has generated a culture, a set of ideas and ways if life, practices,
and artifacts that have been handed down from generation to generation since Jesus became the object of faith" (Stefon et al). Christianity is
appealing to me for the fact of knowing one man sacrificed himself for the good and eternal life of all the people is one hell of a sacrifice and I admire
that. I admire most that you will always be given the chance to have you sins forgiven.

Christianity And Religion Essay

  • 1. Christianity And Religion Essay What is Christianity? Some might say that Christianity is simply the belief in Jesus Christ. They would be correct, but Christianity is so much more than that. It is also the belief that Jesus Christ died for our sins and just like he came back from the dead, he will come back once again for all who have faith in him and for those who do not will wish they had. In Genesis of the bible it says, "In the beginning God created ...show more content... Salvation is not difficult or even lengthy. It is more of a mental process than physical. Being saved is not a process to be saved from troubles or pain. It is actually the process of being saved for all sins committed. One must know the sins they have committed, regret or hate past decisions to sin, and know they will try not to do so again. Salvation is a life changing process for Christians and also includes commitment. Usually baptism is performed after Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Reflection About Christianity This composition will give you information on why I chose the topic Christianity. What is compelling about this issue and why is it important in the study of religion? This assignment and the content within it will explain the significance of Christianity across all religions studied. The information in this composition will show in what ways Christianity is significant for religious beliefs. I will give you, the reader an example of how this religion, have a profound effect on my life, and the area I reside. What impact does Christianity have on the everyday lives of people who practice Christianity in my area? The Holy Trinity is the doctrine of Christianity believes God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is one, but it's the underlying belief for Christians because it's an intricate part of Christianity. It's my opinion, it's the basic principles of Christians obedience and faith. It inspires significant principles about connection and commonality. (Fisher, 2017) "Christianity is based on the life, teachings, death, and the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus lived about 2,000 years ago in the Roman–occupied Palestine. He taught for three years and was crucified by the Roman government on charges of sedition. Since then his death is celebrated throughout the world since the sixth century and has been used as a major point from which society is measured." Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Definition Essay On Christianity In today's society the word "Christian" can mean many different things for everyone. Often times the word gets terrible labels on it such as: two–faced, unreal, fake, or in other words, a hypocrite. This label that the word "Christianity" gets can mostly come from the fact that many Christians say one thing, but live something entirely different. There is a huge pressure on Christians to live their lives perfect without sin which is impossible to do. The definition of the word Christian can be described as a follower of Christ or someone Christ–like. This is a very difficult lifestyle for Christians to live up to because no one is perfect, we sin everyday so when someone see's a Christian is doing something bad or unchristian they point fingers...show more content... For example, if an outsider looking into to give Christianity a chance, giving their life to Christ, but sees a "Christian" that goes to church on a daily basis doing drugs or drinking outside of church, how do you think that makes not just the person, but also Christianity look? It makes it look like that person does not really care about what they believe in. It destroys the whole meaning of Christianity, follower of Christ or Christ–like. That's not to say that Christianity is easy because it's not, everyone falls short, but I think it's important to realize that we're not perfect and that's okay, but we need to live up to the potential that God created us to be. He created us to be Christ–like in his own image. He knows that we're going to sin because we're human, that's what his grace and forgiveness is for and for us to learn from our mistakes, not to intentionally make them over and over again, that's not growing to be Christ–like. Growing to be Christ–like is diving into his word, being aware and learning from the mistakes we make through God's grace, and loving others. I think that's the most important message that outsiders looking into Christianity need to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis Essay Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis Mere Christianity, by C. S. Lewis, is written as set of guidelines of Christian belief. Lewis does not say there is any particular way to believe but he does make a point that the topic of religion itself is serious. As you consider whether you want to believe or not, you have to recognize how much thought it requires, and how thought provoking a process this decision is. Lewis covers Christianity in four different books within his book. In book one, Lewis discusses the Law of Nature and makes note of a tendency in humans of appealing to a standard of absolute truth in quarrels and arguments. He calls this standard the Law of Nature or the Moral Law. The Law isn't the same as the law of gravity...show more content... Lewis' argument in the third book is most important to the point I want to discuss. He argues through this chapter the Christian behavior.Morality is what he considers to be the basics of good Christian behavior. Lewis states that morality is not simply, "something that prevents you from having a good time", but rather morals are the "directions for running the human machine". Every moral rule is there to prevent wear and tear on the way machine operates. He realizes that is why the rules seem to be constantly getting in the way of are natural behavior. Lewis sees that some people think in terms of moral ideals not rules and obedience. Ideals suggest preference to personal taste. Something that subjective would be meaningless in practice. Idealistic notions are meaningless unless we try to carry them out. Acting on ideals requires rules. Lewis uses the analogy of the ship to show how ideals without rules can go wrong. If the ships keep on having crashes they will not be able to sail. If their steering gears do not work they will not be able to avoid crashes. The cardinal virtues are seven virtues that help guide us to have good morality. Prudence is the first virtue and is having the common sense enough to think about what you are doing and what are the consequences. Temperance is finding moderation in your lifestyle. Justice includes traits like honesty, the ability to give–and–take, keeping promises, and so on. Fortitude includes two kinds of courage: the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What Is Religion? Essay What is religion? Each person's definition of religion is different. Each person's faith is different. This is a question that has been asked for centuries, and regardless of the answer given there is no right or wrong answer. Religion can be defined as a group of people who have shared beliefs who feel their life has purpose or meaning. This feeling or belief that their life has meaning can come from outside of themselves, as well as within. Taking this one step further, these shared beliefs put into action in the form of worship, can be easily identified because they happen regularly. It can be said the Primal religions were in fact not religions. Some may argue Confucianism is not a religion. Others may say Taoism is not a...show more content... They are teachings learned by previous generations then passed down, they are not always actions. The fifth feature of religion is grace. Grace is defined by Smith as "the belief and assurance that reality is on our side and can be counted on." Lastly there is mystery. For this there is no exact definition, but it is all of what a religion cannot explain, it is all that the human mind cannot grasp, it is the certain "higher power" that religion offers. Of these six features, there are three that are present in most all religions, they are: authority, tradition, and mystery. Authority, tradition, and mystery further explore and define religion when looking specifically at Primal Religions, Confucianism, and Taoism. Primal Religions are often mistaken to be the religion of the primitive man, often thought to be unintelligent. There is a definition of "primal" that is better suited than unintelligent or primitive. Primal in terms of religion, refers to the lack of exposure to technology, it is not "knowing" the state of consciousness given to many by the technological environment. Primal religions preceded organized religion as we know it today by thousands of years, in some cases millions, but are still present in the world today; we now call them tribal religions. Within primal religions there are people who are knowledgeable about life, who are knowledgeable about Defining Religion–4 traditions, and who are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Christianity And Its Impact On Society Christianity and the impact it has placed in society has shaped and stripped, modified and divided, comforted and enlightened the world. Christianity has managed to delve into every aspect of human life. Christianity is in our way of life–science, education, technology and arts and has created the environment of religious belief which managed to engrain its' ideals into a social, political and educational belief. Areligion such as Christianity is the foundation from which society lives, breathes and thinks on. There are many that dispute this yet there is some insight and relevance on how our freedom, choices and laws embody Christianity and it has done so since the beginning and still does so in the present. According to Rodney Stark it is, "Christianizing the Empire" (The Triumph of Christianity, 2011). And it is from which the past, present and future empires stands upon. The importance of understanding how Christianity blanketed humanity gives us a different view that is aided by evidence that it bears truth to its meaning. The world we live in, society and culture in general has been driven by religion for thousands of years. Christianity historically has played a significant role in shaping the modern day of society and culture. It is in the currency we use, the book in which we pledge our truth and honor to, and the obedience, hesitance and laws in our everyday decisions in life. A very revealing and captivating set of research has publicized this to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Christianity Of Religion Essay Religion: the best thing to ever happen to humanity or the one thing that is holding us back? While there are many arguments and testimonies that support either side, there is a clear answer. Religion, specifically judeo–christianity, in the western world has an array of disastrous issues ranging from bias teachings to abuse and hate crimes. There are countless examples of ways in which religion has, and is continuing to regress society's views and morals. Ignorance and disdain from scientific fact, fear to act upon natural human impulse, innumerable human rights violations and of course wars on religion, are topics rarely discussed due to the concern of offending those who have a relationship with the creator. I will not be discussing the...show more content... Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of our time said "Before we understood science, it was natural to believe that God created the universe, but now science offers a more convincing explanation." He is absolutely correct. It is human nature to seek explanations for life's big questions. Therefore, back when there was no understanding of much at all, the concept of God provided all the answers. Now, however, with research and evidence to back up discoveries, it is irresponsible to completely reject them. In history, an example of this is Galileo's theory of Heliocentrism. Because society was ruled by a theocracy at the time, it was said that the earth was the center of the universe and the sun revolved around it. Galileo's theory that the earth revolves around the sun and the sun was the center of the universe, although not entirely correct, was an important breakthrough for science. Galileo was convicted for having opinions that challenge scripture and was sentenced to house arrest until he died. Although nothing this extreme occurs in the western world today, not much has changed in terms of belief. Today, most churches have realized how ineffectual it is to fight science, and have claimed that there are in fact no contradictions between science and religion. This is a case of telling rather than showing. If churches still continue to believe in events such as God creating the universe in six Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Christianity: A Popular Religion Christianity Christianity is a popular religion that saw its beginnings around two–thousand years ago in the Middle East. There are many forms of Christianity that have spread throughout the world and have shaped our history in many ways. In fact, according to year 2000 version of the World Christian Encyclopedia there are "33,820" different denominations of Christians around the world (1). The differences within the faith come from divisions between one group, or another and are defined by their doctrine and church's spiritual authority. Issues such as who Jesus was as a person, the esteem of apostolic succession, eschatology, and papal power also separate one denomination from another. Some groups do not consider themselves to be a denomination Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Essay On Christianity Shalom Professor, I am going to try being as respectful as I can possibly be while debating your opinion of my essay. However, I did call my academic advisor immediately after researching my grade and your synopsis stating, "What you've presented here is an unconvincing argument that the Christian and the transexual are both using the same rationale for their belief systems." Subsequently, letting him know that my professor thinks that I need to research about Christianity, as my degree in Religion from Liberty does not make me sufficiently qualified to speak on its worldviews . While, that stands as sarcasm (I am from NYC originally), nevertheless, it does accentuate the point, which, I am moving towards in my Ethical Research essay. We make presumptive research evaluations based on our foundations of ethical belief. Copied directly from International Encyclopedia of Ethics "The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior. Philosophers today usually divide ethical theories into three general subject areas: metaethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics. Metaethics...show more content... Individual's need to stop crying that they are "absolutely right" and everyone in the world needs to seeing things the way the subjectivist does. If we do not start being ethically rational, we will lose this country. However, every Christian that I speak with tells me how we need more God back in society. Well, I tell them, modern liberalism has taken Christianity's "love and tolerance" mantras, and now they are beating the rest of us over the head with their subjective views of what that means. • 10. Reflection On Christianity Christianity Summative Reflection Christianity is a religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. Most forms of Christianity hold that Jesus is the son of God. There are many similarities between my faith, Roman Catholicism and my non–Catholic, group choice of Christian denomination, Jehovah's Witness. This branch of Christianity, Jehovah's Witnesses, was formed by the WatchTower Society and also founded byJesus himself. Learning about a Christian Denomination has changed my perspective of Christianity through the Jehovah's Witnesses history, beliefs/rituals, sacraments and how they spread the message of God to others. The history and beliefs/rituals of the Jehovah Witness branch of Christianity has altered my perspective of Christianity in general. Since the beginning of the 19th century to the present day, the Jehovah's Witnesses have brought forth a different perspective about Christianity. The people of the Jehovah's Witnesses community believe that Jesus is not the messiah, and do not believe in the Holy Trinity. They believe that Jesus is not the one to worship because he is less than God too just as humans. This puts in perspective that God is the Father Almighty and no other person, or spirit is above him. Before learning about Jehovah's Witnesses, I did not think there was this many branches of Christianity. I also thought every Christianity denomination believed in the Holy Trinity as seeing The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. This topic has impacted Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay Christianity Christianity is the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Most followers of Christianity, called Christians, are members of one of three major groups––Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Eastern Orthodox. These groups have different beliefs about Jesus and His teachings. But all consider Jesus central to their religion. Most Christians believe God sent Jesus into the world as the Savior. Christianity teaches that humanity can achieve salvation through Jesus. Jesus lived in Judea (later called Palestine), a Middle Eastern land ruled by the Romans. The Romans crucified Jesus about A.D. 30. Jesus' followers were convinced that He rose from the dead, and they soon spread Christianity to major cities throughout the...show more content... Two practices important to Christian worship usually take place in churches. These practices are (1) baptism and (2) the Eucharist, also called Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper. The ceremony of baptism celebrates an individual's entrance into Christianity. The Eucharist represents the Last Supper, the final meal that Jesus shared with His disciples. Worshipers share bread and wine in the Eucharist as a sign of their unity with each other and with Jesus. Christians see Jesus as continuous with the God of Judaism. A collection of Christian writings was added to the Jewish scriptures known as the Old Testament, or Hebrew Bible. The Christian writings, called the New Testament, record the life and teachings of Jesus. They also describe the development of the early church and explain what faith in Jesus means. The Christian Bible includes both the Old and New Testaments. Some Christian groups also accept as part of the Bible a collection of writings called the Apocrypha. The origin of Christianity Jesus' ministry. Christianity originated in the ministry of Jesus. During His lifetime, Jesus preached the gospel, meaning good news, that God was coming to earth to be among His people in a special way. Jesus called this special way the Kingdom of God. • 12. Christianity, Religion, And Religion Essay Christianity, one of the western religion which is accepted by more than 30% of the world population. Actually, I am not part of this religion: I am from Hindu religion, an eastern religion. In my religion, there are thousands of gods, but I don 't even know the name of more than 50 gods. Unlike Hindu, in Christianity, there is only one God, Jesus Christ, who is the central figure in Christianity. Among the Christianity community, it is believed that God sends his son to the earth to free the people from pain and suffering. For the salvation of the people son of God took an avatar of Jesus Christ. It is also believed that Jesus came back after the third day of his death. As I am the person from a differentreligion, I find the different concept of God in western religion. We, Eastern people worship many gods and we have many festivals to celebrate but in Christianity, people only follow to Lord Jesus. For them, Christmas is their main festival as it is the birth date of Christ, Easter as the day that Jesus came back from his death. According to the Christian mythology, Jesus was born from virgin women Mary. Nearly about 2,000 years ago, Mary was informed by the angel named Gabriel that she would have a son, Jesus, who would be the son of god. And soon, Mary (the virgin women) gave birth to the Jesus Christ in the stable. At the birth of the Jesus Christ, the angel tells some shepherds that their savior, Christ had already taken birth. • 13. Egyptian Religion 's Influence Over Christianity Egyptian Religion's Influence Over Christianity Religion is present in almost every single culture in the world and has been for several thousands of years. Egypt is one of the first known and recorded civilizations in the world and has been studied for as long as its artifacts have been founded. In the discoveries of these artifacts, historians have found religious–like stories with Gods and supernatural elements. This is one of the first ever recorded religions in the world and the religions that followed Egyptian religion have taken some influence from these stories, including Christianity. (Tyldesley) Horus then went onto to become the sun god or god of the sun in Egypt and Set (also known as Seth), his enemy, was known as the god of night or the darkness. (Aneesh) Horus was known to have a falcon's head, which in Egypt symbolizes a king, and a human man's body with jewels and clothing adorning it. Horus was also known as "The Truth", "The Lamb of God", and "The Light." (Aneesh) Horus and his mother,Isis, hid from Set in Egypt to avoid being killed because of Horus being Osiris's, the former king and Set's brother, son. While Horus was in hiding, he taught and helped many people and even had 12 disciples that helped him in his journey. Horus and Set had many battles and some stories even claim that every day Horus won the battle against Set seeing as it was daylight and every night Set won the battle against Horus because it was dark. (Aneesh) Horus was said to have performed many miracles, which is expected of a religious figure, and he even walked on water. Additionally, it was stated that Horus was crucified and was then resurrected 3 days later when he was not found in his burial site. (Vento) One author even connected the thought of him being the sun by saying, "The resurrection of Horus in large part represents the return of the sun from both its nightly and annual decent into the darkness." • 15. Christianity has been my religion and my identity for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a household with parents that pointed me to God every chance they got and siblings that were in and out of the house going on various mission trips. From the very beginning, I have been rooted in the strong faith that was shown to me, even though my age didn't always enable me to fully comprehend the basics of it. My family did not necessarily pile into the minivan every Sunday in habit of going to church, but focused more on our relationship with God and the fellowship with friends that came through that mutual love and connection. I was raised to go to Him with my weaknesses and to worship without ceasing. This was my beginning and I have clung to those roots through the trials that have come my way. Since I was raised in this religion, there came a point where my observations were not enough and I had to start forming my own opinions and beliefs. I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was about eight or nine although comically, I am not sure if I truly meant it or was in it for the small piece of bread and grape juice that came with the acceptance. I was truly saved and baptized in seventh grade at my small Christian school. When I first was saved, I do not believe I had a firm understanding of everything I was stating I believed, but just prior to my baptism I became acutely aware of my humanness and need for a close relationship to God. What I learned from the Bible and my study Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Personal Essay: Is Christianity The True Religion Long time ago, I was told that Christianity was the true religion until a Muslim told me it isn't. So I studied their claims, then I asked, was Sunni or Shia the true one? Then the answer was &@^&#в‚©%"*!. So I once decided to be a Hindu, then I met a Sikh that they don't agree with each other in India. So I read about philosophy, then they complicate things by verifying or challenging almost everything. So I once convinced again that Christianity is the true religion, then again there are 33,000+ sects in the world, each one saying that other sects, denominations or religion is incorrect, and those who don't belong in their sect or denomination is a sinner or deserved to be punished forever. So, I decided not be a member of any religions on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Christianity And The Religions Essay Christianity and the Religions Essay Man is called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and show as many people the way to eternal life, as possible. Because we live in a world of philosophical, cultural, and religious diversity, it is imperative that we interact with people from all walks of life. Christian dialogue with others from various religions can be enlightening – solidifying what we believe as followers of Christ. Accepting people with their various faiths allows us as Christians the ability to gain insight into other beliefs, value systems, and the connections between culture and religion – as well as inspiring personal reflection. Calling to Proclaim the Gospel According to the 'World Council of Churches'– A worldwide fellowship of 349 churches seeking unity, a common witness and Christian service, "Greater awareness of religious plurality has heightened the need for improved relations and dialogue among people of different faiths" (World Council of Churches, 2009). Too often religious identities are drawn into conflict and violence. Perhaps we are then engaging in conversation and attempting to understand one another on the basis of ensuring peace. Or, maybe the definition of tolerance has elicited absolute acceptance or fear, and 'open–mindedness' in the spirit of spiritual correctness. Our own prejudices regularly influence how we interact with those of other faiths. Christians are as guilty as anyone in avoiding those different Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. Christianity Reflection Paper Christianity is a very developed religion and it resides mainly in the Western Culture. Followers up to 2 billion with a continuous rise as the world population grows. "Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, and Protestant Churches are the largest groups" (Stefon et al) known to Christianity. The life of Jesus and his teachings is the base of thisreligion. Jesus taught the way of God, whom is the creator of all and the father of Jesus. He taught the people that living their lives in a certain manner, would end with eternal life after you have died. Jesus and his guidance was becoming notorious; however, The Roman Government and Jewish leaders showed vast disapproval. Thus, leading to the crucifixion of Jesus where he was executed upon the cross. Christians believe that 3 days after Jesus died he rose from the dead; therefore, giving the chance to his believers to live eternal life after death. "Christianity is more than just a religious belief. It also has generated a culture, a set of ideas and ways if life, practices, and artifacts that have been handed down from generation to generation since Jesus became the object of faith" (Stefon et al). Christianity is appealing to me for the fact of knowing one man sacrificed himself for the good and eternal life of all the people is one hell of a sacrifice and I admire that. I admire most that you will always be given the chance to have you sins forgiven. Hinduism originated in India around 1500 BCE when the Aryans left Get more content on HelpWriting.net
