Argumentative Essay On Alternative Medicine
Thesis: Although many people say that the alternative medicine is the only way when the doctors
can not find the treatment. However, alternative medicine is a fantastic treatment which contains
many damages in different ways such as harmful the body, lake patients knowledge unrealistic
expectation, and legal use of these medicine .
Sub–Topic One: Harmfulness
Alternative medicine causes many risk to the human body that can show after using it for a while.
Due to the use of weed in the treatment of many diseases, which are caused by many damage to the
human body. Many proponents of Alternative Medicine have talked about the importance of using
herbs in the treatment of many common ailments because of its reputation for use in ancient
medicine. However, many studies have shown negative symptoms when using herbal
remedies.According to Elvin–lewis in 2001 that as many plants that are used in alternative medicine
as a treatment lead to many negative reaction that may sometimes lead to a threat to human life or
death. The same report show that the use of herbal therapy in self–intervention without a doctor
misses this system to check the effectiveness and safety of these herbs. That means this herbal
without the evidence of what can do in the human body it may harm the body.
In Hong kong and Australia, herbal medicines containing aconites caowu (the root of Aconitum
kusnezoffii) and chuanwu (the main root of Aconitum carmichaeli) are all used to treat many
diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis, bruises, and fractures. These herbs contain variable amounts
of toxic alkaloids (contains stimulant activities such as cocaine and caffeine) and can cause danger–
ous irregular heartbeats, cardio– vascular collapse, and even death (Borins, 2017). This example
show that the herbal may help to treat different kind of disease, but in the same time have a bad
result because may the body can not acceptor use overdose.
The use of alternative medicine in the treatment of allergies and asthma leads to many negative
responses to the patient's body. This is through the presence of several alternative medicine clinics
that claim to use Chinese needles for the treatment of patients with allergies and asthma.
However, studies in

Writer's Statement
Thesis Statement: Climate change is natural; however, advances of human society such as
deforestation, industrialization, and the burning of fossil fuels, have increased the rate at which the
climate is changing.
My three major sources stood out when writing my research paper on climate change. My main
source was Louis Bergeron's, "The World Can be Powered by Alternative Energy, Using Today's
Technology, in 20–40 Years, Says Stanford Researcher Mark Z. Jacobson." In this article, Bergeron
describes an energy researcher's plan to power the world with renewables within the next few
decades. My second source was Marc Lallanilla's, "Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Causes and

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first
started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively
affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and
change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced
the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate
change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but
evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like
Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an
increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity.
According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the
Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include
change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although
numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on
whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is
neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media
and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings
of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of
these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice
in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by
nuclear submarines since the Cold War,
according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September
2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

Thesis Statement Against Homework
The Case Against Homework:
Homework/it is "All pain and no gain"
There is very very little, if any, correlation between homework and test scores
Not a single study has ever supported the folk wisdom that homework teaches good study habits and
self–discipline.
Most of homework is assigned as busywork to keep kids busy, assuming that they will waste their
time.
A lot of teachers feel pressured to assign homework by tradition, administrators, and/or parents.
Most of the folk wisdom that homework is good and helps your academic achievement, test scores,
responsibility, study habits, and to connect with your family has either been proven wrong, the
opposite, or has not been proven at all.
Homework only allows kids to grow academically, because it takes up so much time to do, they don't
have time to do anything other than...show more content...
Students tend to imitate what the teacher is saying and doing, instead of figuring it out for
themselves (for the most/some part :) ) and understanding why the steps Work.

Thesis Statement : Global Warming
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe
that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and
have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern
changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very
passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that
are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go
beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the
destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the
increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from
the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of
causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors.
Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is
being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control
people 's lives and for financial gain. "Within the community of scientists and others concerned about
anthropogenic climate change, those who are skeptics are more commonly termed

Thesis Statement For Argumentative Essay On Zoos
1. Introduction to Research Essay & Thesis Statement:
Since their very beginnings, zoo's around the world have been at the forefront of ethical debates.
Animal ethicists, animal liberationists and proponents of the land ethic raise considerable questions
about the nature of zoos in a moral and ethical context. Drawing on animal rights claims, the
questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this essay seeks to argue that zoo's; a place in
which wild animal's are held in captivity, are inherently unethical. Though animal liberationists tend
to include domesticated animals and agriculturally farmed animals, the scope of this essay will focus
solely on the ethics of zoo's and those animals within. Citing experts in the animal ethics...show more

Fox, Michael Allen Fox, Dita Wickens Drazilova,
Argument/ Premise 2: As a result of their rights and claim to a moral status, there is an ethical
standard in which humans must treat animals.
– Zoo's take on the duty to honor animal rights given that they have taken responsibility for the
animal. This means that zoo's must work to avoid pain and seek to bring the animals pleasure. An
"informed empathy" (having a reverence for all life) is the basis for our ethical standard in how
we treat animals. Going against this ethical basis in zoo's is only acceptable when there is a threat
to human life. Callicott will be brought in here yet again, to discuss how we have a duty of care for
animals and that zoo animals are our creations, so we must treat them ethically.
Supported by: J Baird Callicott, Michael W. Fox, Tom Regan
Argument/ Premise 3: The Land Ethic assumes that we must treat animals with the same morality as
humans, given that they are part of the collective "land" and we owe it integrity. We must preserve
the integrity and stability of "the land" (animals included) and thus animals deserve to continue
living in their natural state. In this, I will discuss how zoo's involve humans as the "conqueror's" and
this is unethical– we must live in ethical holism. Zoo's directly violate this land

Thesis Statement For Mental Health

The Expository Method used for the topic to sentence outline is 'Analysis by Division.' This method
breaks down the main idea into smaller parts that work together to make one central point.
Additionally, the 'Analysis by Division' method is useful for structuring the topic sentences for
writing the essay. Topic to Sentence Outline
Topic: Mental health is an increasingly vital part of general wellness in today's fast–paced world.

Equally important to the characteristics of a mentally healthy individual, in today's fast–paced
world, is the psychological health of the brain, the genetic, biological and environmental factors that
play an integral role in general wellness.
Many prominent theorists have argued that perceptions of the self, the world, and the future are
essential for mental health. Yet much research evidence suggests that overly positive
self–evaluations, exaggerated perceptions of control or mastery, and unrealistic optimism are
characteristics of normal human thought. Moreover, these illusions seem to promote other criteria
of mental health, including, the ability to care about others, be happy or contented, and to engage in
productive and creative work. (Taylor & Brown 1988,

Thesis Statement For Pride And Prejudice
Pride and Prejudice: Essay Outline Thesis statement, including map of development: In Jane
Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice," the author traces portrait of women's role during the Regency
period: they were expected to get married, to be accomplished and to self–scarify. Topic Sentence
#1: Marriage was crucial at the time, and women of the early Victorian age were expected to
marry and to get their daughters married. a.Argument: Marriage assured social security for both the
women and the family. b.Example: When Lady Catherine tells Elizabeth that Darcy was supposed
to marry her daughter: "The engagement between them is of a particular kind. From their infancy,
they have been intended for each other. It was the favorite wish of his mother, as well as of her's.
While I their cradles, we planned the union: and now, at the moment when the wishes of both sisters
would be accomplished, in their marriage, to be prevented by a young woman of inferior birth, of
no importance in the world, and wholly unallied to the family!" (Austen 335–336). c.Explanation:
Lady Catherine's reaction demonstrates the crucial importance of marriage in the society, but also
for women. Families needed their daughters to marry in the same social class or above to insure
social prestige. Demonstrates Lady Catherine's role to protect the high class and prestige of her
descendants through marriage. For Elizabeth and her family, this union with the higher class assures
them social security. a.Argument: Marriage was a market, women needed to marry to ensure
financial security. b.Example: When Mrs. Bennet learns that Mr. Bingley is coming to town: "A
single man of large fortune; four of five thousands a year. What a fine thing for our girls!" (Austen
6). c.Explanation: Marriage was the only way for the Bennet girls to ensure financial security. Girls
are too high class to get jobs but would not inherit. Financial security also ensured future economic
security for Mrs. Bennet after her husband's death. Topic Sentence #2: Women of the early 1800s
need to demonstrate accomplishments and education. a.Argument: Accomplishments demonstrated a
woman's value. b.Example: Lady Catherine to Elizabeth: " 'Do

Thesis Statement On Standardized Testing
Thesis: The effects of standardized testing have negatively impacted students across the United
States. High Stakes testing has led to a decrease in student motivation, high retention rate, and a
notable change in early dropout rates.

A. Standardized testing shows where a student stands academically.
B. High stake testing determines if a student will move forward a grade or not.
C. The legislatives thought high stake testing would improve student academics.

Although legislatives assumption was that high stakes testing would enhance understudy inspiration,
and raise understudy accomplishment, that supposition was completely incorrect. The effect of
standardized testing (high–stakes testing) has not been positive throughout the United States at all.
Due to the lack of motivation, the high retention rate, and notable change in dropout rate, it may be a
while until many states recover, especially for states like Louisiana. According to Nola, Louisiana is
tied with Florida for having one of the country's fifth lowest graduation rates, and one of the highest
dropout rates. Our society needs to come together and think of a plan that will help students, and
prevent the increasing number of kids who decide to give up on school. A system that will benefit
both students, and teachers should be created; making it better for both, students and teachers to
work together properly. With a new system student motivation may improve, the number of over
aged students sitting in the wrong grade will decrease, and the notable dropout rate will actually

Argumentative Essay On Renewable Energy
Renewability
For nearly everyone on earth, fossil fuels are a part of our daily lives. Some of the more obvious
places to find petroleum products would be gas and diesel in cars and trucks, but it is in more than
just your tank. Without fossil fuels, we would not have things such as plastic to make a wide
variety of things such as tires, kayaks, or even computers. The question remains, do we need fossil
fuels?
In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and
transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over the world, but are still used far less than
fossil fuels. Most would say it's not reliable or it doesn't make any profit. While both statements are
true, it doesn't mean we can't make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason
we don't use renewables for everything is that we don't want to change. The hard truth is we need to
change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of
energy.
Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible.
Public uses of renewable energy range from transportation all the way to heating and cooling.
Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration
of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to
electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions. Global warming may or may not

English Composition
Language and Identity
Who am I? What is it that defines that personality? Anzaldua argues in her essay that the language is
what defines one's identity. Language is indeed an important component of culture, and culture is
known to be a crucial definer of identity. People use language to connect to their identities and
communicating their realities and values to themselves and to the world around them... In other
words, language is important because people use it to express their thoughts and beliefs. "People
evolve a language in order to describe and thus control their circumstances" (Baldwin 109).
Consequently, language does not necessarily define identity as much as identity defines language.

Tan clearly mentions in her story that she had to speak two different languages to her Asian mom
who had her own made up English. Tan relates to both her Asian descent and American belongings
by using her mom's made up English to speak with her mom, and uses the proper English to give
lectures and speak to most Americans. On the same grounds, Anzaldua learned through her life
experiences to frequently use multiple types of English, and many other Dialects of proper Spanish
and Mexican Spanish. She uses each language to communicate, connect and affiliate to specific
people according to their background. This proves that the assumption that language defines culture
and identity fails. What happens to the people who speak many languages, do they not get the
benefit and pride of belonging to a certain community? Rather the contrary, they belong to multiple
communities and they choose which group they want to communicate with and with which
language. People have the ability to switch from a language to another to be part of a group and this
supports the idea that identity defines and shapes language, and not the opposite.
Language is used as a way to identify with people, but it is also used to distinguish between them.
People use language to differentiate between people and associate them to a specific culture and
community according to the language they speak. America is known for having a diverse

Thesis Statement For Universal Health Care
"Health care is an essential requirement for well being" (Maruthappu). All over the world, health
care is a constant concern because of the difficulty maintaining quality and affordability. In the
United States, health care reform has been a huge debate topic. The purpose of health care is to
satisfy the medical needs of an individual. However, many Americans consider health care a
"luxury,"because millions of low–income families cannot afford the same care as the middle or high
class. In this case, the right to quality and affordable health care is not extended to all Americans.

Countries in Europe experience "taxes increasing year after year", which is what Americans fear

"health care should be paid for" ("Right to Health Care"). However, the government uses income
taxes to fund infrastructure, schooling, and the military. Health care coverage is just as important.
The military protects Americans, schools improve their education, but health care saves lives.

Argumentative Essay On Memorials
Memorializing events in the history of the world for any purpose has it's positives as well as the
negatives. Ranging from a memorial of a popular United States president from a loved one of a
family, memorials have generally served as a purpose of remembrance from the past of said event.
The purpose of the memorial is usually associated with a positive, uplifting feeling towards the
deceased individual or past event. While this is more or less simply defining what memorials are
for, what is the meaning behind them? What purpose do they serve besides the simplicity that they
are? Important messages from a few varied sources will give a differing viewpoint on memorials

Some memorials are outstanding in their craftsmanship and aesthetics. This makes people wonder
what could be lurking inside the memorial, or what is near that memorial. What we've got here is a

According to Source G, the analogy of tainting the planet with specific memorials are ridiculous, "I

the earth with a polished, mirrored surface, much like the surface on a geode when you cut it and
polish the edge. The need for the names to be on the memorial would become the memorial; there
was no need to embellish the design further. The people and their names would allow everyone to
respond and remember. The ideals of such nonsensical placements of the memorials are just irritable

Argumentative Essay On Childhood Trauma
Sixty percent of adults report experiencing abuse or other difficult family circumstances during
childhood. (Mental Health Connection, N.D.). This shocking statistic exemplifies the high
prevalence of childhood trauma. Furthermore, twenty–six percent of children in the United States
will witness or experience a traumatic event before the age of four. (Mental Health Connection, N.D.)
Trauma is an extremely common and complex phenomenon. But what is trauma? According to
Merriam Webster, trauma is defined as, "a disordered psychic or behavioral state resulting from
severe mental or emotional stress or physical injury." (Merriam Webster, 2017). Dr. Lenore C. Terr
from the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics of America further describes trauma as unique to
each individual. It can be caused by a series of events or one severe incident. Unfortunately,
childhood trauma is usually experienced repeatedly. For example, many children endure sexual
abuse, bullying, and severe family problems over and over again. Children may experience a variety
of traumas that have lasting consequences on their mental health. Those who experience childhood
trauma are more likely to develop psychological disorders. This occurs because their brains lack
neuroplasticity, which inhibits their ability to adapt to various stressful circumstances.
One of the most perverse traumas experienced by children is sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is an
unfortunate reality for many children all over the world. Most

family members deal with you has a life long effect on your personality. Keeping in view all these
facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most
important part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and
their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As the children grow up they find good
friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this
change but the importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family
background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost always happier. Thus one
cannot deny the importance of family life.
The life with your family is very important it plays a major role in your development into the
person you become. The goals you set for yourself in your life are very much dependent on the
life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich

time even exists, and Einstein believed that time was a muddle in which the past, present and future
were only illusions.
First, a person must be honest with themselves and recognize that they are procrastinating. After
coming to the realization that one is a procrastinator, make a to do list with low priority tasks; work
out why you procrastinate, by

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Alternative Medicine Thesis: Although many people say that the alternative medicine is the only way when the doctors can not find the treatment. However, alternative medicine is a fantastic treatment which contains many damages in different ways such as harmful the body, lake patients knowledge unrealistic expectation, and legal use of these medicine . Sub–Topic One: Harmfulness Alternative medicine causes many risk to the human body that can show after using it for a while. Due to the use of weed in the treatment of many diseases, which are caused by many damage to the human body. Many proponents of Alternative Medicine have talked about the importance of using herbs in the treatment of many common ailments because of its reputation for use in ancient medicine. However, many studies have shown negative symptoms when using herbal remedies.According to Elvin–lewis in 2001 that as many plants that are used in alternative medicine as a treatment lead to many negative reaction that may sometimes lead to a threat to human life or death. The same report show that the use of herbal therapy in self–intervention without a doctor misses this system to check the effectiveness and safety of these herbs. That means this herbal without the evidence of what can do in the human body it may harm the body. In Hong kong and Australia, herbal medicines containing aconites caowu (the root of Aconitum kusnezoffii) and chuanwu (the main root of Aconitum carmichaeli) are all used to treat many diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis, bruises, and fractures. These herbs contain variable amounts of toxic alkaloids (contains stimulant activities such as cocaine and caffeine) and can cause danger– ous irregular heartbeats, cardio– vascular collapse, and even death (Borins, 2017). This example show that the herbal may help to treat different kind of disease, but in the same time have a bad result because may the body can not acceptor use overdose. • 2. Writer's Statement Thesis Statement: Climate change is natural; however, advances of human society such as deforestation, industrialization, and the burning of fossil fuels, have increased the rate at which the climate is changing. My three major sources stood out when writing my research paper on climate change. My main source was Louis Bergeron's, "The World Can be Powered by Alternative Energy, Using Today's Technology, in 20–40 Years, Says Stanford Researcher Mark Z. Jacobson." In this article, Bergeron describes an energy researcher's plan to power the world with renewables within the next few decades. My second source was Marc Lallanilla's, "Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Causes and Sources." In this article, Lallanilla talked about the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Climate Change Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions. "...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War, according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Thesis Statement Against Homework The Case Against Homework: Homework/it is "All pain and no gain" There is very very little, if any, correlation between homework and test scores Not a single study has ever supported the folk wisdom that homework teaches good study habits and self–discipline. Most of homework is assigned as busywork to keep kids busy, assuming that they will waste their time. A lot of teachers feel pressured to assign homework by tradition, administrators, and/or parents. Most of the folk wisdom that homework is good and helps your academic achievement, test scores, responsibility, study habits, and to connect with your family has either been proven wrong, the opposite, or has not been proven at all. Homework only allows kids to grow academically, because it takes up so much time to do, they don't have time to do anything other than...show more content... • 6. Thesis Statement : Global Warming Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future. Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors. Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control people 's lives and for financial gain. • 7. Thesis Statement For Argumentative Essay On Zoos 1. Introduction to Research Essay & Thesis Statement: Since their very beginnings, zoo's around the world have been at the forefront of ethical debates. Animal ethicists, animal liberationists and proponents of the land ethic raise considerable questions about the nature of zoos in a moral and ethical context. Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this essay seeks to argue that zoo's; a place in which wild animal's are held in captivity, are inherently unethical. Though animal liberationists tend to include domesticated animals and agriculturally farmed animals, the scope of this essay will focus solely on the ethics of zoo's and those animals within. Citing experts in the animal ethics...show more content... Fox, Michael Allen Fox, Dita Wickens Drazilova, Argument/ Premise 2: As a result of their rights and claim to a moral status, there is an ethical standard in which humans must treat animals. – Zoo's take on the duty to honor animal rights given that they have taken responsibility for the animal. This means that zoo's must work to avoid pain and seek to bring the animals pleasure. An "informed empathy" (having a reverence for all life) is the basis for our ethical standard in how we treat animals. Going against this ethical basis in zoo's is only acceptable when there is a threat to human life. Callicott will be brought in here yet again, to discuss how we have a duty of care for animals and that zoo animals are our creations, so we must treat them ethically. Supported by: J Baird Callicott, Michael W. Fox, Tom Regan Argument/ Premise 3: The Land Ethic assumes that we must treat animals with the same morality as humans, given that they are part of the collective "land" and we owe it integrity. We must preserve the integrity and stability of "the land" (animals included) and thus animals deserve to continue living in their natural state. In this, I will discuss how zoo's involve humans as the "conqueror's" and this is unethical– we must live in ethical holism. Zoo's directly violate this land Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Thesis Statement For Mental Health Expository Method Used: The Expository Method used for the topic to sentence outline is 'Analysis by Division.' This method breaks down the main idea into smaller parts that work together to make one central point. Additionally, the 'Analysis by Division' method is useful for structuring the topic sentences for writing the essay. Topic to Sentence Outline Topic: Mental health is an increasingly vital part of general wellness in today's fast–paced world. (Narrowed Topic): Characteristics of a mentally healthy individual. Thesis Statement: A mentally healthy individual has the characteristics of emotional intelligence and spiritual consciousness, intellectual and social wellness. Emotional Intelligence is considered one of the defining characteristics of a mentally healthy...show more content... Equally important to the characteristics of a mentally healthy individual, in today's fast–paced world, is the psychological health of the brain, the genetic, biological and environmental factors that play an integral role in general wellness. Many prominent theorists have argued that perceptions of the self, the world, and the future are essential for mental health. Yet much research evidence suggests that overly positive self–evaluations, exaggerated perceptions of control or mastery, and unrealistic optimism are characteristics of normal human thought. Moreover, these illusions seem to promote other criteria of mental health, including, the ability to care about others, be happy or contented, and to engage in productive and creative work. • 9. Thesis Statement For Pride And Prejudice Pride and Prejudice: Essay Outline Thesis statement, including map of development: In Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice," the author traces portrait of women's role during the Regency period: they were expected to get married, to be accomplished and to self–scarify. Topic Sentence #1: Marriage was crucial at the time, and women of the early Victorian age were expected to marry and to get their daughters married. a.Argument: Marriage assured social security for both the women and the family. b.Example: When Lady Catherine tells Elizabeth that Darcy was supposed to marry her daughter: "The engagement between them is of a particular kind. From their infancy, they have been intended for each other. It was the favorite wish of his mother, as well as of her's. While I their cradles, we planned the union: and now, at the moment when the wishes of both sisters would be accomplished, in their marriage, to be prevented by a young woman of inferior birth, of no importance in the world, and wholly unallied to the family!" (Austen 335–336). c.Explanation: Lady Catherine's reaction demonstrates the crucial importance of marriage in the society, but also for women. Families needed their daughters to marry in the same social class or above to insure social prestige. Demonstrates Lady Catherine's role to protect the high class and prestige of her descendants through marriage. For Elizabeth and her family, this union with the higher class assures them social security. a.Argument: Marriage was a market, women needed to marry to ensure financial security. b.Example: When Mrs. Bennet learns that Mr. Bingley is coming to town: "A single man of large fortune; four of five thousands a year. What a fine thing for our girls!" (Austen 6). c.Explanation: Marriage was the only way for the Bennet girls to ensure financial security. Girls are too high class to get jobs but would not inherit. Financial security also ensured future economic security for Mrs. Bennet after her husband's death. Topic Sentence #2: Women of the early 1800s need to demonstrate accomplishments and education. a.Argument: Accomplishments demonstrated a woman's value. b.Example: Lady Catherine to Elizabeth: " 'Do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Thesis Statement On Standardized Testing Thesis: The effects of standardized testing have negatively impacted students across the United States. High Stakes testing has led to a decrease in student motivation, high retention rate, and a notable change in early dropout rates. I.History of Standardized Testing A. Standardized testing shows where a student stands academically. B. High stake testing determines if a student will move forward a grade or not. C. The legislatives thought high stake testing would improve student academics. II.Lack of Student Motivation A. According to the article, "Student Motivation: An Overlooked Piece of School Reform," Motivation can affect a student's outcome in class. B. An absence of understudy inspiration can assume an essential part in an understudy...show more content... Although legislatives assumption was that high stakes testing would enhance understudy inspiration, and raise understudy accomplishment, that supposition was completely incorrect. The effect of standardized testing (high–stakes testing) has not been positive throughout the United States at all. Due to the lack of motivation, the high retention rate, and notable change in dropout rate, it may be a while until many states recover, especially for states like Louisiana. According to Nola, Louisiana is tied with Florida for having one of the country's fifth lowest graduation rates, and one of the highest dropout rates. Our society needs to come together and think of a plan that will help students, and prevent the increasing number of kids who decide to give up on school. A system that will benefit both students, and teachers should be created; making it better for both, students and teachers to work together properly. With a new system student motivation may improve, the number of over aged students sitting in the wrong grade will decrease, and the notable dropout rate will actually Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Argumentative Essay On Renewable Energy Renewability For nearly everyone on earth, fossil fuels are a part of our daily lives. Some of the more obvious places to find petroleum products would be gas and diesel in cars and trucks, but it is in more than just your tank. Without fossil fuels, we would not have things such as plastic to make a wide variety of things such as tires, kayaks, or even computers. The question remains, do we need fossil fuels? In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over the world, but are still used far less than fossil fuels. Most would say it's not reliable or it doesn't make any profit. While both statements are true, it doesn't mean we can't make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason we don't use renewables for everything is that we don't want to change. The hard truth is we need to change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of energy. Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible. Public uses of renewable energy range from transportation all the way to heating and cooling. Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions. Global warming may or may not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Argumentative Essay English Composition Language and Identity Who am I? What is it that defines that personality? Anzaldua argues in her essay that the language is what defines one's identity. Language is indeed an important component of culture, and culture is known to be a crucial definer of identity. People use language to connect to their identities and communicating their realities and values to themselves and to the world around them... In other words, language is important because people use it to express their thoughts and beliefs. "People evolve a language in order to describe and thus control their circumstances" (Baldwin 109). Consequently, language does not necessarily define identity as much as identity defines language. People decide on...show more content... Tan clearly mentions in her story that she had to speak two different languages to her Asian mom who had her own made up English. Tan relates to both her Asian descent and American belongings by using her mom's made up English to speak with her mom, and uses the proper English to give lectures and speak to most Americans. On the same grounds, Anzaldua learned through her life experiences to frequently use multiple types of English, and many other Dialects of proper Spanish and Mexican Spanish. She uses each language to communicate, connect and affiliate to specific people according to their background. This proves that the assumption that language defines culture and identity fails. What happens to the people who speak many languages, do they not get the benefit and pride of belonging to a certain community? Rather the contrary, they belong to multiple communities and they choose which group they want to communicate with and with which language. People have the ability to switch from a language to another to be part of a group and this supports the idea that identity defines and shapes language, and not the opposite. Language is used as a way to identify with people, but it is also used to distinguish between them. People use language to differentiate between people and associate them to a specific culture and community according to the language they speak. • 13. Thesis Statement For Universal Health Care "Health care is an essential requirement for well being" (Maruthappu). All over the world, health care is a constant concern because of the difficulty maintaining quality and affordability. In the United States, health care reform has been a huge debate topic. The purpose of health care is to satisfy the medical needs of an individual. However, many Americans consider health care a "luxury,"because millions of low–income families cannot afford the same care as the middle or high class. In this case, the right to quality and affordable health care is not extended to all Americans. Universal health care will ensure a higher life expectancy, reduce the cost of medical treatment through a single–payer method, and improve medical treatments....show more content... Countries in Europe experience "taxes increasing year after year", which is what Americans fear (Post). People believe the U.S. government already provides enough coverage and welfare for lower–income families. A significant portion of Americans does not want their hard–earned money used for unemployed people. Instead of seeing health care coverage as a right, people believe "health care should be paid for" ("Right to Health Care"). However, the government uses income taxes to fund infrastructure, schooling, and the military. Health care coverage is just as important. The military protects Americans, schools improve their education, but health care saves lives. • 14. Argumentative Essay On Memorials Memorializing events in the history of the world for any purpose has it's positives as well as the negatives. Ranging from a memorial of a popular United States president from a loved one of a family, memorials have generally served as a purpose of remembrance from the past of said event. The purpose of the memorial is usually associated with a positive, uplifting feeling towards the deceased individual or past event. While this is more or less simply defining what memorials are for, what is the meaning behind them? What purpose do they serve besides the simplicity that they are? Important messages from a few varied sources will give a differing viewpoint on memorials from one to another. The first thought of memorials is the simple, generic...show more content...
