Course Reflective Essay
Overall, taking this course has taken me from an undeveloped thinking process to an adequate thinker. Before taking this course, I would respond to an
action, a statement or an opinion given by someone, without taking the time to think about what the question at hand was, what the problem was, or
even trying to understand the others point of view. Now I have gained the knowledge to response to any situation with the correct format. I also, have
learned to become a bit more open minded. Furthermore, I did not understand that my upbringing could be an impediment of mines when responding to
certain situations. Everyone's up bringing is not the same. Everyone's morals and values are not the same. So I have learned from taking this course,

Writing Course Reflection
Throughout this course, I have learned necessary skills used to analyze and respond to an argument, as well as how to develop my own. When I
first started this class, I had a broad understanding of how to analyze a work and why that would be useful for my writing. Now, I know the proper
steps behind analyzing a work and then synthesizing the information into my own essay. Looking back at the first three major papers in this course,
I have been able to identify some of the strengths as well as some of the weaknesses within my writing, in order to create a plan of action for the last
paper of the term. As I looked back at previous papers, I could see reoccurring comments about some of the areas I do well in. For example, my

If I look back at the very beginning of this class and compare my writing skills from back, then to the sets of skills I have developed after taking this
course I can easily feel I have improved a lot as writer. I went from being a writer who is not so confident in writing skills to someone who could
pre–plan his paper before starting the paper after critically analyzing the text materials. The X–men Text we studied as text material throughout the
course symbolized the identity issues of our society. I have always thought of graphic novels only as a source of entertainment and never realized its
importance. After my time in expository writing I have realized that comics or any other graphic novel for that matter is not only a source of

Since the beginning this course has had 5 main objectives that were strictly followed throughout the course they are Analyzing Rhetorical Situation,
Evaluating Information, Composing Documents, Presenting Documents and then finally Reflecting upon them. I am sure after working on the
research papers for this course I have met all those objectives I can analyze any given paper more critically, compose a new paper more efficiently
and eloquently and reflect upon them. Since the very first research paper we worked on I have learned before writing a paper it is important to think
about our topic then think about its purpose and then consider the audience whom we are writing it for. After this we can determine what genre are we
going to follow. Sometimes the information is not enough so research strategies for rhetorical situation is another important factor after that we need to
evaluate all the information we have gathered and Compose it into a Document.
So, the assignments we did throughout our course was able to help give enough knowledge and practice enough to achieve the required learning
outcomes. The discussion board prompt has helped me give a better response and feedback. I have realized that it is important to consider that we are
not over parsing or criticizing other persons

A Reflection On The Counseling Course Essay
As a pleasantly stark contrast to the impersonal business building, Barbara's office felt like stepping into a welcoming home, the dГ©cor was warm,
inspirational and worldly and the seating was plush and comfortable. Ornate lamps softly illuminated the room and her genuine smile momentarily put
my mind at ease. Immediately Barbara offered me some coffee, tea, or water and gestured to the couch. After openly admiring the exquisite art and
unique trinkets, we discussed the purpose of the interview and I elaborated about the counseling course I was enrolled in at TCU. My nerves fluttered
for a moment, as I gazed into her calm and natural existence, could I do this? She was such a natural presence, completely at ease in the moment,
while I second guessed my career choice, fully aware of my anxiety issues. If my apprehension could strike me in such a soothing environment in the
company of such a pleasant master of the counseling world, could I control these underlying tensions as a professional counselor with my future
clients? I pushed these relevant insecurities momentarily away as it seemed I was the implied leader of the interview.
First, I inquired about the numerous acronyms on her website and countless certifications, however, I had no desire to spend our limited time
discussing such a minute aspect of her substantial career. Barbara obtained her masters degree in family and marriage counseling from Seminary
Southwestern Baptist just a few years ago, which surprised me,

Through the completion of my graduate program in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, I have gained an immense amount of knowledge and a
plethora of skills which I have used and found valuable in my seventh grade English classroom. My outlook on student learning and my empathy
towards students has also been positively affected by the program. These learning opportunities have led me to become a better educator both inside
and outside of the classroom. One of my most influential experiences took place with my very first class, ED 523 taught by Dr. Howe. In this course,
I learned about the Understanding by Design (UbD) Framework created by Wiggins and McTighe. This framework focuses on a backward design
approach that uses big...show more content...
It also gives them the ability to make connections to real world situations and get the "big picture". By using the Backward Design approach, my
assessment practices have also been positively affected. Now that I know exactly how I am assessing my students before I teach a unit, I am able to
address misunderstandings in advance and provide students with rubrics and assessment materials before they start a project or assignment, so they
know exactly what is expected of them. I have found that students perform better and are more engaged when they know my expectations in advance. I
have also discovered that students are more conscientious about their grade or performance when they are able to look at my assessment tool and ask
questions or check off the tasks they have completed. Within three months of taking ED 523, my school district began using curriculum mapping.
Curriculum mapping has facilitated my district in eliminating gaps and repetition in the curriculum and has allowed us to develop a fluent scope and
sequence. This process has optimized student learning in my classroom. I now know what the students have already learned and can build upon those
skills and understandings and can also better prepare them for the content they will be introduced to in the future. The mapping process has given me
the ability to create cross curricular units with my colleagues. The students

Learning Outcomes of Course Reflection
There were lots of thing that I did in class for this entire project like reading the Full Body Burden book, note charts for each chapter, group
discussion and group project. It was quite a long process. However, I did have fun with it and learn a lot. After finishing the entire project, there are
three goals of the course Learning Outcomes that connect to the process of this entire project. The first goal of the course Learning Outcomes is
goal number 2; it is to help students understand processes of reading, writing, and research. Three activities that connect to this goal were reading
Full Body Burden, note charts and the project. Before start doing these activities, I set the goal for all of it. For example, the goal for reading Full
Body Burden book was to learn about Rocky Flats and understand the theme of the book. When I read the book, I learned about what happened in
Rocky Flats like dealing with plutonium, cancer, and contamination. I also learned about the author's story of living near Rocky Flats. The most
important of reading the book was to know and understand the themes of the book that the author tried to convey. Some of the themes in the book that
I found were secrecy, family, government and community. Speaking about the note charts, I had to do it for each chapter. The goal for it was to learn
new vocabularies, looking for interesting passages, secrets in the book and came up with questions about the chapter. Because I had set the goal, so

Reflection On English Course
After taking the University English course for a semester, I realize the course content is different from my anticipation but it is much more useful than
what I expected. The aspects that I would like to improve in this course including my speaking, reading and writing skills. As the course mainly focus
on the writing part, I find it really helpful and practical for my subsequent studies. Especially for the sentence structures part, which is also the main
improvement I would like get from this course, it really inspires me a lot. I hoped I could master the use of different sentence structures because my
previous writings were limited in some simple and dull structures, making my writing mediocre. After participating in this course, I really gain a lot.
Many unclear concepts in sentence patterns that I have had since my secondary school are cleared now. For instance, in making some complex
sentences, I always make grammatical mistakes and use erroneous subjects but do not know why they are wrongly used. The...show more content...
For example, I intended to answer and ask questions frequently in the lessons. However, when I evaluate my performance in this semester, I
discover I was diligent in the first few lessons but was not absorbed in the subsequent lessons due to the heavy workload of other subjects. I will
try my best not to be a deadline fighter in next semester so that I can enjoy and focus on the lessons. Apart from improving my English through this
course, I planned to do some actions in my daily lives in order to achieve my English goals. For example, I decided to read more English books and
newspapers. It was difficult for me to read the whole books so I changed to watch English films and videos with English subtitles. Also, I read BBC
News in the website twice a week. I found my English become better as I knew more vocabularies and my reading speed became

What I Learned In My Writing Class
Throughout the course of this semester, I have learned so much about writing. I used to think writing was my best skill in terms of school, but after
taking this course, I realized I have a lot to learn still. In high school English was always my highest grade because of my writing, my writing in my
SAT scores was always the highest, and last semester in ENGL 1301, I got a high A in the course. But this course has challenged me as a writer to
think outside of the box and be more academically smarter in terms of writing. The journals have helped me write about things that we like more than
the other assignments because it gives us more freedom and flexibility about what we can write about. These journals are being used as a tool as practice

Without a doubt the lessons and exercises on time management were the most meaningful to me. They brought insight into why I seemed to be
constantly working yet still never really got anything I wanted to accomplish throughout the day finished. I realized the majority of the activities I had
been spending the most time on didn't reflect my values of hard work and self discipline and long term academic goals to be successful in college. This
motivated to completely change the way I managed my time by effectively striking a balance between my maintenance, committed, and free time. I
found several helpful strategies throughout this course but the ones I found to be most beneficial were the ones on setting goals and managing financial

I know have a list of short–term goals that will eventually help me reach my long–term goal of graduating with a business degree.
The advice on managing my financial resources was also beneficial because it open my eyes t the pitfalls of credit card debt that I didn't pay
attention to before such as the amount of extra time and interest it would take to pay off a card if I only paid the minimum payment each month.
The suggestions for saving money were interesting as well. I learned there are huge advantages to saving early and using the power of compound
interest. Turns out the least helpful section of this course in my opinion was the chapter on actively reading. I have always been an avid reader and
I've never had a problem with reading comprehension so most of the information and reading strategies that were presented in the text just sounded
redundant and didn't seem to apply to me. There isn't much I would change about the course except for maybe the length of some writing assignments.
Upon reviewing the "Best Strategies for success in school" I realize that I now apply many ideas I use to ignore to my school approach such as getting
to know my instructors, breaking down projects into more manageable tasks to avoid procrastination, and staying healthy. All the strategies listed are
important but the three key strategies that will remain with me the longest throughout my academic career will be to getting help with difficult class
work early, keeping most

On Friday March 7th I attended Ripon College Youth Conference where I learned about unhealthy relationships, drugs and alcohol, and legal
consequences of 16, 17, and 18 year olds. Throughout this conference, I have learned many things that were interesting as well as helpful. To begin, my
first session was on the importance of healthy relationships and how to handle an unhealthy relationship. My biggest takeaway from this session was
that a relationship doesn't have to be romantic but can be with friends and family as well. Also, once you start making excuses in a relationship the
relationship has turned unhealthy. In my second session, I learned about drugs and alcohol. This session taught me about Tyrannizing Image, which is

One way the speakers performed this task was by having us take surveys that were completely anonymous. I thought this was a neat idea performed
by unhealthy relationships and drugs and crime. Each of these sessions had us fill out our own answers on a sheet of paper before we turned them
in, mix them up, and handed the papers back to us. Then we proceed to a part that had us stand up for a check mark, from drugs and Crime, or a yes
from ,unhealthy relationships. Also, I like how they used personal stories that made them seem human and relatable. One story that really caught my
attention in the conversations was in the unhealthy relationships session. Loren told us a story about how she had two best friends and how one of her
best friends sexually assaulted her other friend. She said that she chose to be friends with the friend that sexually assaulted her other friend. Loren then
explained how difficult it is to get out of unhealthy relationships and how unhealthy relationships can occur just like that. This story helped engage me
and relate to how friendships are difficult and hard to manage. These were two ways that the speakers engaged their

Reflection About My Writing Course
At the end of this course, I feel that a lot has improved with my writing. When I first started this course, I was struggling with a lot of writing
mechanisms. One of the things was transition. I was just writing without thinking of how to connect my thoughts. After completing numerous writing
assignments, I am fully confident with my ability to have a paper that flows. Another thing that I struggled with was organization. Although I still have
a lot of improvement to make, I think this aspect of my writing has improved. One of the things that helped me immensely was creating an outline
before writing my paper. Another aspect of my writing that also improved has to do with run–on sentences. I see a lot of changes in my writing and

As someone with a love for words and a talent for writing, I plan on majoring in English. I also wish to double–major in filmmaking, as I would like to
screenwrite and eventually direct films. Succeeding in this course is a prerequisite to the creative writing and English courses I will take during my
college education. Thus far, this class has taught me how to write persuasively, tie mywriting into the overall context, and think critically. The first two
skills aid me in reaching whatever audience I desire and asserting myself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy writer. The last item in the list, thinking
critically, is necessary and applicable to all aspects of life. Those who can think critically have the strongest arguments, best problem–solving...show

In particular, critical thinking and reading were thoroughly exercised throughout the first semester. Reading responses and analysis–oriented essays
provided a setting conducive to the growth of this mental muscle. Additionally, my self–evaluation has become more stringent. Setting higher
expectations for my writing has not only advanced my success in this course, but advanced my ability to aid my peers. In the future when I hold the
transitory position of a script editor, my standards will assist the process of selecting and refining potential screenplays. Finally, the capacity to analyze
visual rhetoric will significantly improve my educational and occupational success. Not only does it permit me to learn from others, but it also grants
me the ability to communicate in the most powerful

Reflective evaluation
In this essay I will examine and reflect on my experiences during the teacher training course. I will analyse the impact of learning about teaching is
having whilst working with students and needing to switch to a different mindset in order affectively teach the students. I will explore how I feel about
what I am learning and what influence it is having on me and my approach to teaching, using my reflective journal to look back on lessons and what I
have been learning about as well as the experiences I have had due to my learning. Over the past three months there has been a lot of information to
digest, new terminologies and concepts to get my head round. This has been challenging but also enjoyable, learning about the roles and
responsibilities of a teacher, the standards set by the Education and Training Foundation as well as getting to know your students, which is something
that I hadn't thought too much about prior to becoming a trainee teacher. I have learnt the importance of getting to know my learners using initial and
diagnostic assessments, this enables me to gain a deeper understanding of the student's needs and therefore helps them achieve their goals. The use of
learning outcomes has taken me a while to grasp but over time I have gained an appreciation for the benefits they can give to a lesson, giving structure
and direction from the outset as well as clearly presenting specific outcomes to the students. In the lead up to doing the micro

English Composition Course Reflection
During the semester of English Composition, I have grown into a stronger writer. Through writing different pieces such as descriptive and
persuasion topics, the ideas have been created through words. Due to this class, I have felt to become a more confident writer going into college. By
achieving the curriculum, developing new ideas and describe new topics, I have learned to achieve in this course. Progressing through the semester, I
have developed into a strong writer. By doing so, I have created new ideas and aspects to my writing in a different way. For example, discovering new
topics through the database and understanding the importance of the audience. Through this progression, I have developed new research methods such
as understanding a database. Through the database, I was able to understand and describe information and content in...show more content...
By understanding formatting, sentence structure and style, the course improved my abilities to succeed in English Composition. Assuming the obvious
of writing essays, I concluded that the course was more than that. By emphasizing on topics and different types of writing, I have understood the
importance of context and information found in my writing. Through my learning outcomes, the time and effort into every topic was much worth the
reward. By understanding new aspects to my writing, I have achieved the reward of a creative writer. Overall I have achieved immensely throughout
the course. With my new found confidence in my writing, I take these skills into college and beyond. Through school work and job opportunities I
understand how context and audience are essential to develop a new idea or persuade. From vaguely understanding the importance of context and the
audience, I have developed a clear understanding to focus on these topics. By organizing ideas found through a reliable source, I have found the
confidence to be able to persuade and describe

Educational Leaders Course Reflection
Introduction: Course Reflection and Internship Activity
When I start taking the Research Methods for Educational Leaders course I did not have an idea about action research. During this course, I have
learned how to implement a scientific based research to identify a problem and find effective solutions to a problem. At the beginning of the school year
2016 –2017, all 5th – 8th grade students took the Measures of Academic Progress Test (MAP), which creates a personalized assessment experience by
adapting to each student's learning level. The MAP assessments measure growth and how students are progressing, because the data can be looked at
historically and are consistent from season to season. Students can take the MAP assessments up to three times in a year in reading, science...show more

I will review relevant literature and create an applicable action research.
Some classroom teachers do not use the MAP data to provide more assistance to students. I believe that, if teachers know how to use the MAP data,
they are able to provide efficient help to their students. As a school leader, if I can understand motivational factors of not using the MAP data, we can
convince teachers for using the data and provide assistance to teachers in reviewing students' MAP data, and/or designing new teaching methods as a
result of the data collected.
I am planning to create a PowerPoint, or other materials to share the results with faculty and administration. I will conduct evaluative activities of the
instructional process using the current procedures available in my school. After my observations and surveys, I will conduct several teacher
development workshops in order to provide guidance, assistance and help them with gathering, analyzing and summarizing student MAP data in my
school

After completing the writing course, I came to realize not only did I need this course, but students here at Walden should enroll in this class. There are
professional writers whom do not always write correctly; and there is room for improvement (Walden Writing Center, 2015). At the onset of this
course I identified a couple of writing areas I could use help in; however, as the course went on, I also found helpful tips which enabled me to further
my academic writing. Consequently, each week I learned different writing techniques and implement them into my assignments. After taking the

October 19, 2016 Reflection Paper
It's hard to believe that it's already time for Midterms in my English 101 class. The adventure has been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any
case, I am happy that I am taking the class and learning from it. In the beginning it appeared somewhat hard however I was resolved to compel my

On the first day of my English 101 class I was apprehensive, I had no clue what's in store from the class. As I discovered what the class would have
been similar to, I let myself know I was going to attempt to get an B or higher toward the end of the semester and put all the exertion I had into each

I have an unmistakable view in my head of what I am going to compose and what structures I have to utilize. Things have ended up less difficult now
since I don't need to experience the battle of how things are done or on the chance that I don't understand how I should do what I am expected to do.
These aptitudes may empower me to enjoy additionally composing and not need to stress over having a written assignment.
This course has helped me with many chances to figure out how to properly write papers. Prior to this class, I had little experience with how to
build a legitimate paper. It has taken experience, and getting normal evaluations, to show me how to precisely write. Despite the fact that this course
required different papers to be turned in, I am appreciative to have possessed the capacity to gain from my oversights and develop as a writer. I have
constantly cherished written work, however now I am ready to improve my writing as the semester

Course Reflective Essay

  • 1. Course Reflective Essay Overall, taking this course has taken me from an undeveloped thinking process to an adequate thinker. Before taking this course, I would respond to an action, a statement or an opinion given by someone, without taking the time to think about what the question at hand was, what the problem was, or even trying to understand the others point of view. Now I have gained the knowledge to response to any situation with the correct format. I also, have learned to become a bit more open minded. Furthermore, I did not understand that my upbringing could be an impediment of mines when responding to certain situations. Everyone's up bringing is not the same. Everyone's morals and values are not the same. So I have learned from taking this course, not to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Writing Course Reflection Throughout this course, I have learned necessary skills used to analyze and respond to an argument, as well as how to develop my own. When I first started this class, I had a broad understanding of how to analyze a work and why that would be useful for my writing. Now, I know the proper steps behind analyzing a work and then synthesizing the information into my own essay. Looking back at the first three major papers in this course, I have been able to identify some of the strengths as well as some of the weaknesses within my writing, in order to create a plan of action for the last paper of the term. As I looked back at previous papers, I could see reoccurring comments about some of the areas I do well in. For example, my introduction paragraphs Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Writing Course Reflection If I look back at the very beginning of this class and compare my writing skills from back, then to the sets of skills I have developed after taking this course I can easily feel I have improved a lot as writer. I went from being a writer who is not so confident in writing skills to someone who could pre–plan his paper before starting the paper after critically analyzing the text materials. The X–men Text we studied as text material throughout the course symbolized the identity issues of our society. I have always thought of graphic novels only as a source of entertainment and never realized its importance. After my time in expository writing I have realized that comics or any other graphic novel for that matter is not only a source of entertainment,...show more content... Since the beginning this course has had 5 main objectives that were strictly followed throughout the course they are Analyzing Rhetorical Situation, Evaluating Information, Composing Documents, Presenting Documents and then finally Reflecting upon them. I am sure after working on the research papers for this course I have met all those objectives I can analyze any given paper more critically, compose a new paper more efficiently and eloquently and reflect upon them. Since the very first research paper we worked on I have learned before writing a paper it is important to think about our topic then think about its purpose and then consider the audience whom we are writing it for. After this we can determine what genre are we going to follow. Sometimes the information is not enough so research strategies for rhetorical situation is another important factor after that we need to evaluate all the information we have gathered and Compose it into a Document. So, the assignments we did throughout our course was able to help give enough knowledge and practice enough to achieve the required learning outcomes. The discussion board prompt has helped me give a better response and feedback. I have realized that it is important to consider that we are not over parsing or criticizing other persons Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. A Reflection On The Counseling Course Essay As a pleasantly stark contrast to the impersonal business building, Barbara's office felt like stepping into a welcoming home, the dГ©cor was warm, inspirational and worldly and the seating was plush and comfortable. Ornate lamps softly illuminated the room and her genuine smile momentarily put my mind at ease. Immediately Barbara offered me some coffee, tea, or water and gestured to the couch. After openly admiring the exquisite art and unique trinkets, we discussed the purpose of the interview and I elaborated about the counseling course I was enrolled in at TCU. My nerves fluttered for a moment, as I gazed into her calm and natural existence, could I do this? She was such a natural presence, completely at ease in the moment, while I second guessed my career choice, fully aware of my anxiety issues. If my apprehension could strike me in such a soothing environment in the company of such a pleasant master of the counseling world, could I control these underlying tensions as a professional counselor with my future clients? I pushed these relevant insecurities momentarily away as it seemed I was the implied leader of the interview. First, I inquired about the numerous acronyms on her website and countless certifications, however, I had no desire to spend our limited time discussing such a minute aspect of her substantial career. Barbara obtained her masters degree in family and marriage counseling from Seminary Southwestern Baptist just a few years ago, which surprised me, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Through the completion of my graduate program in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, I have gained an immense amount of knowledge and a plethora of skills which I have used and found valuable in my seventh grade English classroom. My outlook on student learning and my empathy towards students has also been positively affected by the program. These learning opportunities have led me to become a better educator both inside and outside of the classroom. One of my most influential experiences took place with my very first class, ED 523 taught by Dr. Howe. In this course, I learned about the Understanding by Design (UbD) Framework created by Wiggins and McTighe. This framework focuses on a backward design approach that uses big...show more content... It also gives them the ability to make connections to real world situations and get the "big picture". By using the Backward Design approach, my assessment practices have also been positively affected. Now that I know exactly how I am assessing my students before I teach a unit, I am able to address misunderstandings in advance and provide students with rubrics and assessment materials before they start a project or assignment, so they know exactly what is expected of them. I have found that students perform better and are more engaged when they know my expectations in advance. I have also discovered that students are more conscientious about their grade or performance when they are able to look at my assessment tool and ask questions or check off the tasks they have completed. Within three months of taking ED 523, my school district began using curriculum mapping. Curriculum mapping has facilitated my district in eliminating gaps and repetition in the curriculum and has allowed us to develop a fluent scope and sequence. This process has optimized student learning in my classroom. I now know what the students have already learned and can build upon those skills and understandings and can also better prepare them for the content they will be introduced to in the future. The mapping process has given me the ability to create cross curricular units with my colleagues. The students Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Learning Outcomes of Course Reflection There were lots of thing that I did in class for this entire project like reading the Full Body Burden book, note charts for each chapter, group discussion and group project. It was quite a long process. However, I did have fun with it and learn a lot. After finishing the entire project, there are three goals of the course Learning Outcomes that connect to the process of this entire project. The first goal of the course Learning Outcomes is goal number 2; it is to help students understand processes of reading, writing, and research. Three activities that connect to this goal were reading Full Body Burden, note charts and the project. Before start doing these activities, I set the goal for all of it. For example, the goal for reading Full Body Burden book was to learn about Rocky Flats and understand the theme of the book. When I read the book, I learned about what happened in Rocky Flats like dealing with plutonium, cancer, and contamination. I also learned about the author's story of living near Rocky Flats. The most important of reading the book was to know and understand the themes of the book that the author tried to convey. Some of the themes in the book that I found were secrecy, family, government and community. Speaking about the note charts, I had to do it for each chapter. The goal for it was to learn new vocabularies, looking for interesting passages, secrets in the book and came up with questions about the chapter. Because I had set the goal, so Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Reflection On English Course After taking the University English course for a semester, I realize the course content is different from my anticipation but it is much more useful than what I expected. The aspects that I would like to improve in this course including my speaking, reading and writing skills. As the course mainly focus on the writing part, I find it really helpful and practical for my subsequent studies. Especially for the sentence structures part, which is also the main improvement I would like get from this course, it really inspires me a lot. I hoped I could master the use of different sentence structures because my previous writings were limited in some simple and dull structures, making my writing mediocre. After participating in this course, I really gain a lot. Many unclear concepts in sentence patterns that I have had since my secondary school are cleared now. For instance, in making some complex sentences, I always make grammatical mistakes and use erroneous subjects but do not know why they are wrongly used. The...show more content... For example, I intended to answer and ask questions frequently in the lessons. However, when I evaluate my performance in this semester, I discover I was diligent in the first few lessons but was not absorbed in the subsequent lessons due to the heavy workload of other subjects. I will try my best not to be a deadline fighter in next semester so that I can enjoy and focus on the lessons. Apart from improving my English through this course, I planned to do some actions in my daily lives in order to achieve my English goals. For example, I decided to read more English books and newspapers. It was difficult for me to read the whole books so I changed to watch English films and videos with English subtitles. Also, I read BBC News in the website twice a week. I found my English become better as I knew more vocabularies and my reading speed became Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. What I Learned In My Writing Class Throughout the course of this semester, I have learned so much about writing. I used to think writing was my best skill in terms of school, but after taking this course, I realized I have a lot to learn still. In high school English was always my highest grade because of my writing, my writing in my SAT scores was always the highest, and last semester in ENGL 1301, I got a high A in the course. But this course has challenged me as a writer to think outside of the box and be more academically smarter in terms of writing. The journals have helped me write about things that we like more than the other assignments because it gives us more freedom and flexibility about what we can write about. These journals are being used as a tool as practice Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Course Reflection Essay Without a doubt the lessons and exercises on time management were the most meaningful to me. They brought insight into why I seemed to be constantly working yet still never really got anything I wanted to accomplish throughout the day finished. I realized the majority of the activities I had been spending the most time on didn't reflect my values of hard work and self discipline and long term academic goals to be successful in college. This motivated to completely change the way I managed my time by effectively striking a balance between my maintenance, committed, and free time. I found several helpful strategies throughout this course but the ones I found to be most beneficial were the ones on setting goals and managing financial ...show more content... I know have a list of short–term goals that will eventually help me reach my long–term goal of graduating with a business degree. The advice on managing my financial resources was also beneficial because it open my eyes t the pitfalls of credit card debt that I didn't pay attention to before such as the amount of extra time and interest it would take to pay off a card if I only paid the minimum payment each month. The suggestions for saving money were interesting as well. I learned there are huge advantages to saving early and using the power of compound interest. Turns out the least helpful section of this course in my opinion was the chapter on actively reading. I have always been an avid reader and I've never had a problem with reading comprehension so most of the information and reading strategies that were presented in the text just sounded redundant and didn't seem to apply to me. There isn't much I would change about the course except for maybe the length of some writing assignments. Upon reviewing the "Best Strategies for success in school" I realize that I now apply many ideas I use to ignore to my school approach such as getting to know my instructors, breaking down projects into more manageable tasks to avoid procrastination, and staying healthy. All the strategies listed are important but the three key strategies that will remain with me the longest throughout my academic career will be to getting help with difficult class work early, keeping most Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Course Reflection On Friday March 7th I attended Ripon College Youth Conference where I learned about unhealthy relationships, drugs and alcohol, and legal consequences of 16, 17, and 18 year olds. Throughout this conference, I have learned many things that were interesting as well as helpful. To begin, my first session was on the importance of healthy relationships and how to handle an unhealthy relationship. My biggest takeaway from this session was that a relationship doesn't have to be romantic but can be with friends and family as well. Also, once you start making excuses in a relationship the relationship has turned unhealthy. In my second session, I learned about drugs and alcohol. This session taught me about Tyrannizing Image, which is the shared concept...show more content... One way the speakers performed this task was by having us take surveys that were completely anonymous. I thought this was a neat idea performed by unhealthy relationships and drugs and crime. Each of these sessions had us fill out our own answers on a sheet of paper before we turned them in, mix them up, and handed the papers back to us. Then we proceed to a part that had us stand up for a check mark, from drugs and Crime, or a yes from ,unhealthy relationships. Also, I like how they used personal stories that made them seem human and relatable. One story that really caught my attention in the conversations was in the unhealthy relationships session. Loren told us a story about how she had two best friends and how one of her best friends sexually assaulted her other friend. She said that she chose to be friends with the friend that sexually assaulted her other friend. Loren then explained how difficult it is to get out of unhealthy relationships and how unhealthy relationships can occur just like that. This story helped engage me and relate to how friendships are difficult and hard to manage. These were two ways that the speakers engaged their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection About My Writing Course At the end of this course, I feel that a lot has improved with my writing. When I first started this course, I was struggling with a lot of writing mechanisms. One of the things was transition. I was just writing without thinking of how to connect my thoughts. After completing numerous writing assignments, I am fully confident with my ability to have a paper that flows. Another thing that I struggled with was organization. Although I still have a lot of improvement to make, I think this aspect of my writing has improved. One of the things that helped me immensely was creating an outline before writing my paper. Another aspect of my writing that also improved has to do with run–on sentences. I see a lot of changes in my writing and writing run–on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. English Course Reflection As someone with a love for words and a talent for writing, I plan on majoring in English. I also wish to double–major in filmmaking, as I would like to screenwrite and eventually direct films. Succeeding in this course is a prerequisite to the creative writing and English courses I will take during my college education. Thus far, this class has taught me how to write persuasively, tie mywriting into the overall context, and think critically. The first two skills aid me in reaching whatever audience I desire and asserting myself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy writer. The last item in the list, thinking critically, is necessary and applicable to all aspects of life. In the future when I hold the transitory position of a script editor, my standards will assist the process of selecting and refining potential screenplays. • 13. Reflective evaluation In this essay I will examine and reflect on my experiences during the teacher training course. I will analyse the impact of learning about teaching is having whilst working with students and needing to switch to a different mindset in order affectively teach the students. I will explore how I feel about what I am learning and what influence it is having on me and my approach to teaching, using my reflective journal to look back on lessons and what I have been learning about as well as the experiences I have had due to my learning. Over the past three months there has been a lot of information to digest, new terminologies and concepts to get my head round. This has been challenging but also enjoyable, learning about the roles and responsibilities of a teacher, the standards set by the Education and Training Foundation as well as getting to know your students, which is something that I hadn't thought too much about prior to becoming a trainee teacher. I have learnt the importance of getting to know my learners using initial and diagnostic assessments, this enables me to gain a deeper understanding of the student's needs and therefore helps them achieve their goals. The use of learning outcomes has taken me a while to grasp but over time I have gained an appreciation for the benefits they can give to a lesson, giving structure and direction from the outset as well as clearly presenting specific outcomes to the students. Through writing different pieces such as descriptive and persuasion topics, the ideas have been created through words. Due to this class, I have felt to become a more confident writer going into college. By achieving the curriculum, developing new ideas and describe new topics, I have learned to achieve in this course. Progressing through the semester, I have developed into a strong writer. By doing so, I have created new ideas and aspects to my writing in a different way. For example, discovering new topics through the database and understanding the importance of the audience. Through my learning outcomes, the time and effort into every topic was much worth the reward. By understanding new aspects to my writing, I have achieved the reward of a creative writer. • 15. Educational Leaders Course Reflection Introduction: Course Reflection and Internship Activity When I start taking the Research Methods for Educational Leaders course I did not have an idea about action research. During this course, I have learned how to implement a scientific based research to identify a problem and find effective solutions to a problem. At the beginning of the school year 2016 –2017, all 5th – 8th grade students took the Measures of Academic Progress Test (MAP), which creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student's learning level. The MAP assessments measure growth and how students are progressing, because the data can be looked at historically and are consistent from season to season. Students can take the MAP assessments up to three times in a year in reading, science...show more content... I will review relevant literature and create an applicable action research. Some classroom teachers do not use the MAP data to provide more assistance to students. I believe that, if teachers know how to use the MAP data, they are able to provide efficient help to their students. As a school leader, if I can understand motivational factors of not using the MAP data, we can convince teachers for using the data and provide assistance to teachers in reviewing students' MAP data, and/or designing new teaching methods as a result of the data collected. I am planning to create a PowerPoint, or other materials to share the results with faculty and administration. I will conduct evaluative activities of the instructional process using the current procedures available in my school. After my observations and surveys, I will conduct several teacher development workshops in order to provide guidance, assistance and help them with gathering, analyzing and summarizing student MAP data in my school Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Student Writing Course Reflection After completing the writing course, I came to realize not only did I need this course, but students here at Walden should enroll in this class. There are professional writers whom do not always write correctly; and there is room for improvement (Walden Writing Center, 2015). At the onset of this course I identified a couple of writing areas I could use help in; however, as the course went on, I also found helpful tips which enabled me to further my academic writing. Consequently, each week I learned different writing techniques and implement them into my assignments. After taking the graduate writing course, I am confident my academic writing will meet the standards for Walden's dissertation. After the third essay and the third observation, which are linked down below, I was able to understand more what the purpose of the class was. Through the observations, I was able to take what I learned about biological, cognitive, and psychosocial development and see them in the children that I currently work with. Before this class, I believed children misbehaved because they wanted attention. Writing is natural to me but I have trouble with the structure of my essays. Am I staying on topic? Did I convey my message? These are just some of the questions I ask myself during my writing. If I can learn to deliver a message to my audience by engaging with excitement, I will be ecstatic. This is my 4th semester in Hillsborough community College. The adventure has been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any case, I am happy that I am taking the class and learning from it. In the beginning it appeared somewhat hard however I was resolved to compel my way through this class regardless of what difficulties I needed to persevere. On the first day of my English 101 class I was apprehensive, I had no clue what's in store from the class.
