Why use low or no-VOC products?
Any complete training for upscale remodeling must include a least a basic discussion on
low-VOC uses. The flooring industry now uses low and no-VOC adhesives and sealers.
What does VOC mean?
•VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds.
•VOCs are organic compounds that evaporate into the atmosphere at room
temperature.
•VOCs often have noticeable odors similar to gasoline, solvents, paints,
stains, lighter fluid, sealants and adhesives.
•VOCs can be dangerous to even healthy people and pets.
What Are low- OR no- VOC Adhesives and Sealers?
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other chemicals are contained in many
materials and furnishings. Today a number of low VOC adhesives and sealers provide
superior results.
The Benefits of Using low- OR no-VOC Adhesives and sealers include:
• Cleaner indoor air quality for a more comfortable and productive environment.
• Value-added appeal to property buyers.
• Help contribute to improved air quality (indoors and out).
• Low-VOC paints do not release significant pollutants and are virtually odor free.
• High performance low VOC adhesives provide superior bond strength and flexibility.
Low-VOC adhesives and sealers are offered by several suppliers. Always use a flooring
professional to insure an install using the right adhesives. And an annual sealer
treatment for counter tops and any stone is the industry recommendation.
