Greetings from the Mayor
Greetings!
As Mayor of Phoenix, I take great pride in welcoming all the attendees of the 3rd
International Conference on Parkinson’s
Disease and Movement Disorders. Parkinson’s is one of the most common neurological disorders, impacting 15-20 people
out of every 100,000.
The number may seem small, but the disease has an immense impact on these families, with annual cost above
$10,000 per patient. There are, however, many people working to fight the disease. To help find a cure, the National
Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke awarded $90 millionto Parkinson’s disorder research, supported by the National Institute
of Health. With approximately 500 neurologists, psychiatrists and neurosurgeons in Phoenix alonededicated to researching and fighting
Parkinson’s disease, Phoenix is part of the solution. On behalf of the residents of Phoenix, I welcome you to our city, and wish you a
successful conference.

Greetings from the Nobel Laureate
Dear Colleagues,
As a Member of the Organizing Committee, I wish to extend a warm welcome to all the participants.
Even though a new era in the history of Parkinson’s disease started with the discovery of the role of
dopamine, the introduction of levodopa and an arsenal of dopamine-supporting drugs more than half a
century ago, leading to a dramatic improvement in the patients’ quality of life and longevity, the situation
for a Parkinson patient is still far from satisfactory, and the need for further research in this disorder is
urgent. Especially, after a varying number of years the presently available drugs start to loose much of their efficiency,
with disturbing side effects more and more taking over the scene. I wish to welcome all researchers from the fields
of basic neuroscience, neurology, and neurosurgery to contribute with your valuable expertise, and to stimulate
interdisciplinary endeavour.

Greetings from the Nobel Laureate
My Dear Fellows,
We expect that this decade will see great advances in neurosciences. My own work in the area of the
effects of neuro hormones on the brain shows the potential for great strides in this field. Alzheimer’s disease is
the most common cause of age-related dementia in the elderly, characterized by memory loss and cognitive
decline. Alzheimer’s disease degrades the quality of life of patients, puts a major burden on the family and
the caregivers, costs nations around the world billions of dollars annually and has a dismal outcome.
Because the people are living longer the number of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease is
continuing to climb, creating a major global health problem. We must find new ways to treat this devastating disease.
Conferences like this one may help to speed up the development of effective therapies for neurodegenerative
diseases like Alzheimer’s disease.

Neurological disorders including dementia will undoubtedly be one of the most significant challenges
in the 21st century and I am pleased that we are hosting such a gathering of eminent experts from London
and across the globe at this important event. London has a long and proud history of scientific and
medical research and the conference will give you an excellent opportunity to network with London’s world class
leaders.
4. Neurology of Brain
The brain is the most complex part of the human body. The three Brain chemicals noradrenaline,
dopamine and serotonin are involved in both bodily functions and Brain. The structural connectivity describes
anatomical connections linking a set of neural elements whereas functional connectivity is generally derived
from time series observations, and describes patterns of statistical dependence among neural elements. Brain
connectivity is thus crucial to elucidating how neurons and neural networks process information. The goal of
this session is to understand the Causes, Origin, Genesis and Source of various types of Neurological disorder
of brain.
Neurodegenerative diseases
Neurodegenerative disease is defined as a range of conditions which primarily affect the neurons in brain.
Neurodegenerative diseases are debilitating and untreatable conditions that result in death of nerve cells or
progressivedegeneration.Agingandgeneticfactorsaretheoverwhelmingcausesofseveralneurodegenerative
disorders. The commonness of these disorders is snowballing due to the increase in the human life span,
making neuronal degenerative pathologies a serious public health problem. This causes problems with mental
functioning and movement. The goal of this session is to understand the Causes, Origin and Source of various
types of Neurodegenerative diseases of brain like Dementias and Huntington’s Disease etc.
Cerebrospinal Complications
Cerebrospinal fluid bathes the spinal cord and brain and functions as a cushion to defend these areas.
Cerebrospinal fluid leaks happen through a communication between the nose and lining of the brain. These
communications may happen immediately or result from prior sinonasal surgery or trauma. Complications
may happen if the cause is trauma or surgery. Infections after trauma or surgery can lead to meningitis and
serious complications, such as swelling of the brain. Most Cerebrospinal fluid leaks are a complication of a
spinal tap or surgery.
Brain Disorder: Pathophysiology
Pathophysiology of Brain disorders was affected by various factors such as cellular mechanism and
Molecular , Altered cerebral hemodynamic, Cerebral oxygenation, Cerebrovascular autoregulation, Excitotoxic
cell damage, Cerebral metabolic dysfunction, Inflammation and Changes in coordination or balance. There are
more than 1.2 million people in the Europe living with a neurological condition which has a vital impact on
their lives.
Brain Disorders
Brain Disorders are the extremely common cause of serious disability and have a major but often
unrecognized, impact on health and social services. When the brain is damaged, it can affect several different
things, including your sensation, your memory, and even your personality. Brain disorders include any
disabilities or conditions that affect the brain. This includes those conditions that are caused by Brain injury,
genetics, neurological disorders, or traumatic injury. There are 10 million people in the Europe who have
experienced neurological condition which has a great impact on their lives. Mainly stroke, epilepsy, dementia,
headache and brain injury are the neurological conditions suffered in Europe
Conference Scientific Highlights
5. Brain Stem Stroke
A stroke happens when the blood supply to the brain is disrupted due to clot. The way a stroke affects the
brain depends on which part of the brain suffers damage, and to what degree. Sitting just above the spinal
cord, the brain stem controls your heartbeat, breathing and blood pressure. It also controls your hearing,
swallowing, speech and eye movements. The goal of this session is to understand the Causes, Origin, and
Source of various types of the stroke of the brain like ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blood clot etc.
Brain Surgery
Brain surgery is a critical and complicated process that involves repairing structural problems in the brain.
The type of brain surgery done depends highly on the condition being treated. For example, a brain aneurysm
is typically repaired using an endoscope etc
Clinical Management of Brain Injury
Brain injury has become the leading cause of mortality and morbidity all over the world. Every year
1,365,000 emergency department visits due to brain injury. Earlier to arrival to the ICU, patients with severe
BrainInjuryarenormallyreceived,stabilizedandresuscitatedintheoperatingroomoremergencydepartment.
Severely brain-injured patient has been transferred to ICU, the management consists of the terms of high-
quality general care and various strategies aimed at maintaining hemostasis with: Prevention of intracranial
hypertension, Stabilization of the patient, Maintenance of an adequate and stable (CPP) cerebral perfusion
pressure, Avoidance of systemic, secondary brain insults (SBI), Optimization of cerebral hemodynamic and
oxygenation.
Diagnosis/Assessment of Brain Injury
With mild or critical brain injury, diagnosis is usually self-evident. In the appearance of other life-
threatening injuries, which is often the closed brain injury can be missed, a case with motor vehicle accidents.
The focus is on lifesaving measures. The patient may be on a ventilator and serious and the evaluation for brain
injury will be limited until the patient is allowed to emerge from mechanical ventilation and medications.
Injury to particular areas of the brain will cause specific symptoms. For example, Injury to the cerebellum will
cause loss of coordination and balance, frontal lobes injury will cause loss of higher cognitive functions, such
as loss of inhibitions leading to inappropriate social behavior. The brainstem controls things like breathing
and heart rate, as well as arousal. An injury to this area could inhibit any of these processes.
Brain Injury Biomarkers
Biomarkerspresentapowerfulapproachtostudyingthespectrumofneurologicaldiseasewithapplications
in randomized clinical trials, screening, observational and analytic epidemiology, diagnosis and prognosis.
Biomarkers of axonal, astroglial and neuronal damage could be practiced to diagnose brain injury. Such
biomarkers could give important information for medical counseling of at-risk individuals, such as concussed
athletes and military personnel. Cerebrospinal fluid markers (CFM) are preferred over peripheral blood
markers, owing to their increased proximity to the brain and decreased susceptibility to the confounding
impacts of various extracerebral factors
Animal models in Brain Research
For essentially every known human disease, researchers attempt to induce alike aspects of the disease
in animals to build an animal model. Animals are used as models of Brain injuries, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s
6. spinal cord injuries, congenital blindness etc. Researchers generally use rabbits in toxicity and safety testing
of medical devices, drugs and vaccines. In 2009, more than 244,000 rabbits were used in research, more than
any other species covered under the Animal Welfare Act, followed next by hamsters and guinea pigs who are
both used a great deal in toxicity testing and as models for cardiovascular, neurological diseases, infectious
and drug abuse research.
Case reports of Brain Injuries
Brain injury is a clinical diagnosis that can have significant effects on an individual’s life, yet is difficult
to identify through traditional imaging techniques. Researchers are examining many cases related to brain
injuries. Scientists are designing new evaluation tools to assess the problems that people who have suffered
brain injuries encounter. Scientists are also examining the effects of various treatment methods that have
been developed

12. One of the world’s most visited cities, London has something for everyone: from history and culture to fine food and
good times.
London is as much about wide-open spaces and leafy escapes as it is high-density, sight-packed exploration. Central
London is where you will find the major museums, galleries and most iconic sights, but visit Hampstead Heath or the new
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to escape the crowds and view the city’s greener hues up close. Or venture even further
out to Kew Gardens, Richmond or Hampton Court Palace for excellent panoramas of riverside London.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (United
Kingdom) or Britain is a sovereign state located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. The country includes
the island of Great Britain (a term sometimes loosely applied to the whole state), the north-eastern part of the island of
Ireland, and many smaller islands.
ThetotalareaoftheUnitedKingdomisapproximately243,610squarekilometres(94,060sqmi).Thecountryoccupies
the major part of the British Isles archipelago and includes the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern one-sixth of the
island of Ireland and some smaller surrounding islands. The United Kingdom has a temperate climate, with plentiful
rainfall all year round.
