the elderly, however it is the most common form in some parts of Asia. The incidence of the illness
is 1.5% in Western countries and just about 2.2% in Japan. It accounts for 50% of all dementias in
Japan, 20% to 40% in Europe and 15% in Latin America.

Dementia is caused by damage to brain cells. This damage interferes with the ability of brain cells to

including Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies. Vascular dementia symptoms may be most
obvious when they happen soon after a major stroke includes confusion, disorientation, trouble speaking or
understanding speech and vision loss
Track4AgeingandDementia
Almost 40 per cent of people over the age of 65 experience some form of memory loss. When there is no
underlying medical condition causing this memory loss, it is known as “age-associated memory impairment,”
which is considered a part of the normal aging process
Track5AdvancesinDementiaTest
A range of tests and diagnostic procedures is needed to diagnose dementia, but there are several that are
fairlycommonlyusedtodiagnosedementia.Thesetestsfordementiaaremainlytestsofmentalabilities,blood
tests and brain scans. Tests can help the doctor learn whether dementia is caused by a treatable condition.
Even for those dementias that cannot be reversed, knowing the type of dementia a person has can help the
doctor prescribe medicines or other treatments that may improve mood and behavior and help the family.
Track6DementiaStages
Progressive dementia, which is dementia that gets worse with time, is the most common type. Five stages
of progressive dementia have been outlined. They are part of the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), which

The mainstay of management of vascular dementia is the prevention of new strokes. This includes
administering antiplatelet drugs and controlling major vascular risk factors. Neuroprotective drugs such

Animal models for Alzheimer’s disease it is important to think about the human phenotype and what is
being modeled in terms of the animal phenotype. The moderator, Bradley Hyman, professor of neurology at
Harvard Medical School, said that animal models of Alzheimer’s disease, based on the genetics of the disease
and the closely related front temporal dementia, replicate at least some of the pathology. Researchers have
been successful at modeling very specific aspects of Alzheimer’s disease in the mouse (e.g., plaques, tangles).
Although these are incomplete models of the human disease, they have been well received in the field as
potentially relevant models for use in drug discovery.

Amsterdam is the capital city and most populous city of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Its status as the Dutch capital is mandated by the Constitution though it is not the seat of the Dutch government,
which is The Hague. As is the case in all the countries with the highest health care expenditures, the Netherlands has an
exceptionally strong economy.
The country’s GDP per capita was estimated at $41,711 in 2013, higher than all but a handful of OECD nations. The
Dutch government paid the vast majority of health care costs, with nearly 86% of all spending coming from public sources
in 2012, the highest proportion in the OECD.
Netherlands government allocate EUR 32.5 million to the fight against Neurological disease over the next four years.
The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) provided fund of €550 million to fuel the research on mental
illness. NARSAD Young Investigator Grant provides $30,000 per year on research in Neural and behavior disorders such
as schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or child and adolescent mental illnesses.
Amsterdam is currently one of the best European cities in which to locate an international business. It is ranked fifth in
this category and is only surpassed by London, Paris, Frankfurt and Barcelona. Many large corporations and banks have
their headquarters in Amsterdam, including Akzo Nobel, Heineken International, ING Group, ABNAMRO, TomTom,
Delta Lloyd Group and Philips. KPMG International’s global headquarters is located in nearby Amstelveen, where many
non-Dutch companies have settled as well, because surrounding communities allow full land ownership, contrary to
Amsterdam’s land-lease system.

The moderator, Bradley Hyman, professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, said that animal models of Alzheimer’s disease, based on the genetics of the disease and the closely related front temporal dementia, replicate at least some of the pathology. Researchers have been successful at modeling very specific aspects of Alzheimer’s disease in the mouse (e.g., plaques, tangles). Although these are incomplete models of the human disease, they have been well received in the field as potentially relevant models for use in drug discovery.

  • 16. http://vasculardementia.conferenceseries.com/ Vascular Dementia 2017conferenceseries.com Amsterdam is the capital city and most populous city of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Its status as the Dutch capital is mandated by the Constitution though it is not the seat of the Dutch government, which is The Hague. As is the case in all the countries with the highest health care expenditures, the Netherlands has an exceptionally strong economy. The country’s GDP per capita was estimated at $41,711 in 2013, higher than all but a handful of OECD nations. The Dutch government paid the vast majority of health care costs, with nearly 86% of all spending coming from public sources in 2012, the highest proportion in the OECD. Netherlands government allocate EUR 32.5 million to the fight against Neurological disease over the next four years. The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) provided fund of €550 million to fuel the research on mental illness. NARSAD Young Investigator Grant provides $30,000 per year on research in Neural and behavior disorders such as schizophrenia, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, or child and adolescent mental illnesses. Amsterdam is currently one of the best European cities in which to locate an international business. It is ranked fifth in this category and is only surpassed by London, Paris, Frankfurt and Barcelona. Many large corporations and banks have their headquarters in Amsterdam, including Akzo Nobel, Heineken International, ING Group, ABNAMRO, TomTom, Delta Lloyd Group and Philips. KPMG International’s global headquarters is located in nearby Amstelveen, where many non-Dutch companies have settled as well, because surrounding communities allow full land ownership, contrary to Amsterdam’s land-lease system.
