1. In what ways does your
media product use,
develop or challenge
forms and conventions
of real media products?
2. Coverlines
Normally on a magazine the coverlines are placed on the left. This is because
when laid out on the shelf in store the left side of the magazine is all that is
visible. However, I went against this due to the positioning of my image. My
primary research showed that the image was more important, therefore I did
not want to cover the image in any way so I went against this convention and
put them on the right side of the front cover.
3. Regulars and Features
In some magazines the contents page is divided into regulars and features.
This helps the reader to find the story they are looking for a lot quicker and
easier. The reason I did not do this is because although the feedback I
received on the first draft was easy to navigate round, I felt that it would be
easier if they did not.

4. Masthead
I followed the convention of having the masthead in the top left corner of the
front cover because even though the questionnaire says that most of the
respondents are attracted to the image, it is still important for them to be
able to identify the brand. So when the magazine is stacked on shelf, the
masthead is easy to see.
