These adverbs go:
Before all verbs (except be):
- I always have breakfast before 7 o’clock on weekdays.
- My sister doesn’t usually watches movies on Netflix.
- He often goes to the gym by car. NOT He goes often to the gym by car.
After be:
- They are almost always late. NOT They almost always are late.
- He isn’t usually moody.
- I’m occasionally stressed.
5. ADVERBS OF INDEFINITE FREQUENCY
Notes:
Use affirmative sentences with never, almost never, hardly ever and
rarely:
- Alan never smokes. NOT Alan doesn’t never smoke.
- Ella rarely watches news. NOT Ella doesn’t never watch news.
Usually and sometimes can begin a sentence:
- I sometimes drink coke = Sometimes I drink coke.
- Hank usually listens to music at night= Usually Hank listens to
music at night.
