2. Star Image
■ With our artist being from the indie-pop genre, we needed to portray a specific
image for Luna that the audience would idolise but also be able to relate to, I
think this star image is consistent throughout all three pieces of media.
■ For example within the magazine advert she is dressed in clothes that are
accessible by any member of the public but the way she is shot with the lens
flare and the lower angle makes her seem more of a star and more of an idol
than she actually is; this gives her power
■ This is shown in the video also as she is shown to be at a shoot for her music
video which is something that the public wouldn’t typically do but then she is
also shown walking through a park and looking back on dates with a past lover
which is something that the audience can really relate to.
■ The laid back mise-en-scene is continued throughout the products as well with
the background of the digipak being an oversized jumper which brings focus to
her face and the close up angle makes the attention be diverted directly to her
image.
■ Having there be a number of natural settings featured in both the video and the
magazine advert this meant that more indie conventions could take the
forefront and balance out the bright tones that connote more so of the pop
genre.
3. Signature
■ Luna’s signature is carried out within both physical pieces of
media, this creates something personal between both the
audience and Luna and its something that true to her and can
only come from her, this creates almost a devotion to the
artist as the audience feel like they're getting much more
than just an above and beyond star, she's relatable and she's
personal with her fans this is evident within the video as well
as there are multiple shots of her making eye contact with
the camera and singing directly to the camera in extremely
constrained shots which adds to the personal nature of Luna.
She's not performing to a large crowd, but she is still
performing to each and everyone of her fans just in a more
personal direct way without having to be on a stage.
4. Colour Scheme
■ Throughout all texts we kept with the colour purple; this was a colour that was used in
the flashbacks for the music video so when it came to creating the other two pieces of
media we decided to base our inspiration off of this colour and make something that
was different, modern and appealing to our audience.
■ Due to it having connotations of creativity as well we thought this was in important
colour to put at the forefront of the pieces and show off the indie side to Luna a bit
more.
■ This colour scheme is something that we thought could change with each
Era of music that this artist creates but to start off purple was a good starting
Point for Luna to really sell her star image to a new audience
