• The class will be divided into small groups.
• Each group will be provided with set of cards
containing different political terms and will be given 15
mins. to collaborate and discuss how to connect each
term.
• The groups will arrange the cards in a way that
demonstrates the relationship between politics,
governance, and government.
• After completing the activity, each group will present
their arrangement and explain their reasoning behind
the placement of each term.

12. CONCEPT OF POLITICS
According to Plato and Aristotle, there are central concepts in politics:
(1)Concept of justice – what and who is morally and politically
right,
(2) Concept of power – source of authority,
(3) Concept on the right types of constitutions and
governments – different types of governments and states,
(4) Concepts on political structures – different ideologies in a
state, and
(5) Concept on the right and virtuous leadership – who should
lead in a certain political system

approach in which the primary goal is to understand the
essence or the truth about politics.
POLITICAL SCIENCE – is a social science discipline
that studies the state and the government. It is a

deals with experimentation and observation

Decision-Making - refers to the process by which a

structures, arriving at a decision involving their
individual and communal needs and wants.
Implementation - is the process that logically
follows the decision.

An actor - is a sector or group or institution that
participates in the process of decision-making and
implementation.
A structure - refers to an organization or
mechanism that formally or informally guides the
decision-making process and sets into the motion
the different actors and apparatuses in the
implementation process.

Their influence is felt more clearly in local
governments, such as organized crime
syndicates and powerful families, and in rural
and urban areas. Most often than not, these
actors are the cause of corruption, in that
legitimate government objectives are distorted
by their illegal and private interests.

Good Governance
Objective: Create a visual collage that symbolizes
and illustrates the indicators of good governance:
Materials Needed:
Magazines, newspapers, or
printed images.
Scissors.
Glue or tape.
Poster board or Illustration

Same group from recent activity.
Cut out the selected images and arrange them on your
poster board or illustration board. Each indicator should
have a section or area of the collage dedicated to it.
