2. INTRODUCTION
• Born in 1798 in France
• Known as INVENTOR OF SOCIOLOGY
• Influential about the progress of 19th & 20th century
• Believed the progress of human mind takes place in 3 steps;
1. Theological
2. Metaphysical
3. Positive (used for search of the truth)
• Believed technocrats should try to run the society rather than having
rationality of individual.
• He also believed in sociology would occupy pinnacle of a hierarchy of
sciences.
• Auguste believed human mind, individual human being, all knowledge
is an example of his search for invariant laws governing social world.
Used for understanding nature of things

3. • Believed positivism counters the negativism.
• Due to French Revolution, Europe was full of political & moral disorder.
• Believed this would bring progress in crisis of ideas.
• He also believed positivism could change how people live their lives.
• Believed upper class was very conservative.
• Believed positivism helps to counter communism.
• Believed women would be the main power to his thought as women were
affectionate, alturistic. Where as men were intellectually strong.
• Did not believe both sexes were equal.
• Also planned to restructure family and gave rights to each family member
that included father, mother, kids, grand parents.
