Summary: The article covers some areas of sea life and their prey.
Like it says in this little snippet, 242 food relationships have been
revealed through footage. However, it does also explain how
predators and prey are compromised.
The robots that were deployed under the ocean, to record footage of
the sea life, were backed up as true with evidence of this being a
project run by Bay Aquarium Research Institute. This is a strong source
of evidence since the organisation not only sound very official but
have been linked in the article, hence the blue underlined text.
There is further information which has been printed beneath this
snippet. The information details how different species were actually
considered unworthy of eating. For example, the jellyfish. Because of
how much potential jellyfish have, to be deadly, they are considered
highly dangerous by us humans. I thought that other sea creatures
would feel the same way. However, the article actually contradicts my
prediction. I learnt that there are sea creatures which actually enjoy
jellyfish as a tasty meal.
I also found other information, alike, based off species that we already
know. This includes things that we never would have thought of like
squid eating squid. There is even the fact that without these many
crustaceans, worms, fish, jellies and squids feasting on each other, we
wouldn’t have tuna.

record-global-warming-oceans-spd/
TAGS: Ocean, Temperature, Suffocating, Study, Declining, Healthy
Summary: The article starts off, throwing shade towards not only beach
goers but also the audience. The writer achieved this by explaining how
the gradual rise in temperature has gone unnoticed. Of course, this can
have a very dramatic impact on animals who live close to open ocean.
This is one of the many dangers of which the ocean brings, however, this
is caused by human life.
This leads us to the impact that global warming brings to the plantations
within the ocean and how life under the sea can also be affected. With
the heat that comes from global warming, it bleaches the coral effectively
killing it. Of course, coral homes all different kinds of sea creatures and
without those creatures, the food chain could be in danger.
The writer has supported their information with evidence. All the
sentences underlined are linked with different articles which have
supporting arguments and include other sources. For example, when they
go on to talk about sea ice and its thickness, they underline the relevant
parts. ’Satellites begin measuring sea ice’ has been underlined as it is
something which might be considered as information that needs proof.
Words such as ‘suffocating, stressed, victim, starve, harmful’ etc. are used
to create a visualisation as to what sea life has been experiencing as a
result of our harsh and careless ways. This comes as good use for my
fanzine because I can also go into detail about the negatives of the ocean.

Summary: The video described how much pollution affects life on earth, in various
ways. This not only includes global warming but also waste disposal to the ocean. The
motive that came from this video was to make the audience watching more aware of
the dangers of our destructive ways. It was also to allow people to understand why
the ocean is the way it is.
The youtuber, Lemmino, tells us all the facts including: China is the most polluted
country in the world. That includes the ocean surrounding because they tend to dump
a lot of their waste there. He includes statistics to prove his point, for example, 60
million tonnes of waste is dumped in the ocean each day. That includes oil which can
be extremely harmful to sea life.
The global warming topic was also discussed as we burn lots of gas each day e.g. car
emissions. Between 30 and 40% is released into the atmosphere and that dissolves
into the ocean creating ocean acidification. Essentially, global is destroying life on
earth as well as under the sea because the water levels are rising and the contents of
the water are not healthy.
The purpose of the video was not only to draw attention to the problems, however,
but also educated me on other things such as species that we know nothing about.
Like I said at the start, it’s all about making us aware of what we have missed and how
ignorant we have been towards our own surroundings when we should be putting our
focus into them. The video also includes links for sources, confirming the truth within
the video.

awe-inspiring-ocean-discoveries-in-2017

Research
Summary: Of course, this article is all about discovery which is vital to
our understanding of the ocean. Researchers went to great depths (quite
literally) in order to find this information. However, how do we know this
is true? It’s just an article with a weird picture of a sea creature, which
may or may not be real. The photograph has actually been referenced on
the website which gives us enough evidence to take it seriously.
Like the last article, you could say this one digs at the audience slightly for
not paying enough attention to our ocean. The writer focuses on the
deepest part of the ocean, which is still yet to be fully explored for more
sea life.
There are extra details which support the evidence of finding new
species. For example, they put an explanation towards how they captured
the creatures. The details also include specifics such as depth and
appearance of the fish.
To further confirm the sources, the writer has also managed to include a
source for a study found by a student at Newcastle University. He was
able to find that the fish are at the top of their food chain and are able to
live freely which shows that there are various species that don’t
necessarily have to be eaten and can survive without overpopulating. This
is something the audience wouldn’t necessarily be expecting.

Summary: This video was especially made by Lush to raise awareness about the
waste disposal into the ocean, endangering sea life and ruining our beaches.
The man filming the video names multiple inanimate objects that he has found
to allow the audience to grasp how much rubbish is actually there and the
lengths that people will go to in order to dump anything. A lot of the things that
they have shown on the video are things that pose a threat to animals and fish.
The camera focuses on a mother goose with her babies, swimming through
filthy water. This is a good way of showing the impact of human life and how
our consumption can affect the lifecycle of a bird/a fish/a fox etc.
The charity which collects litter from dirty beaches showed their weakness and
that is not having the appropriate facilities to be able to waste the litter
efficiently. Of course, they have boats to transport the litter from the beach,
however, they only have their hands and big bags to package the litter. This
means that litter picking is a very slow process for them.
The co founder of the Ocean Legacy expresses her thoughts about how if
everyone were to sacrifice plastic and Styrofoam from their lives then it would
make a massive difference because both of these materials make the majority
of the waste which spans across the beaches.
