Reserves and Resources Under New Russian Classification System (RF-2013)
No Approved Development Plan
RESERVES
Exploration
The field is under appraisal and does not yet have an
approved development plan and reserves base agreed
upon by the State. The field is subject to technical
studies and/or pilot programs to determine the
optimum development plan and recoverable volumes.
C1
Undrilled areas directly offsetting pilot or tested
wells subject to distance limitations from pilot or
tested wellbore. C1 may include producing wells that
are part of an approved pilot program.
C2
Undrilled areas between the outer boundary of the
oil and gas zone and the boundaries of C1 areas.
PRODUCTION
C1 should be assigned to areas with wells that have
been production tested in cased-hole or where pilot
production has occurred. An exception exists for
offshore fields where open-hole testing with MDT data
is sufficient for assignment of C1, and a production test
is not required.
C2 should be assigned to areas under exploration which
have been substantiated by seismic or other high-
resolution methods, geological and geophysical data,
and/or open-hole testing of individual wells.
C1
C22L
To assign C1, it is not required that every well be tested,
but productivity should be confidently established
through well log data and/or core studies.
The extent of the C1 area is established by the distance
equal to twice the planned development well spacing
(2L). This can be determined by analogy with fields
already under development.
For offshore fields, the extent of the C1 area should be
designated within the predicted drainage area and/or
at a distance of 2L from the tested well.
If pressure communication is demonstrated at a
distance greater than 2L, then those areas can also be
included in C1.
C2
2L
C1
Generally, C2 can be assigned in undrilled areas of a
field under exploration, between the boundaries of the
reservoir and the boundaries of C1.
C2 should be assigned to areas where productivity has
not been confirmed by well testing, but well log
characteristics are similar to those wells where
productivity has been confidently established.
C2 can be assigned within undrilled fault blocks
adjacent to blocks with established productivity, so
long as the available geologic information indicate
similar characteristics of the productive formations.
