ABRIDGED RESUME
Ben Engelbrecht is an accomplished financial specialist with over 20+ years of
strategy and finance, operations excellence, risk management, audit and general
financial management experience across a wide spectrum of industries.
He participates at board level, facilitating full compliance and efficiency in terms of
operational and financial management. He currently serves on several boards,
including as Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit
Committee for Anglorand Holdings Limited (the holding Company of the Anglorand
Financial Services Group), and as Executive Director for Rand Equity and
Investment Capital Holdings (Pty) Ltd (a private investment firm in SME businesses).
As a consultant he advises the Boards, CEO’s and CFOs and other business
executives of financial institutions, agricultural industries and manufacturing
concerns on financial strategy and implementation of risk management & compliance
programs, information governance and accounting.
He held leadership positions as Group Chief Financial Officer at Farmsecure
Holdings, Engagement Partner at Ben Engelbrecht and Associates, Senior Associate
at Van Graan & Associates, BE&A Accountants and Auditors and Naudé & Partners,
Financial Management Consultant at Ovation Global Investments and Audit Manager
at Cohen & Gmeiner.
At Farmsecure Holdings he reported directly to the Group Board and was
responsible for the implementation of financial reporting structures and processes
that allowed the Group to transform its financial reporting quality to internationally
accepted standards and Big 4 audit, following a rapid growth phase during which the
Group had grown from 10 to 37 companies. He further developed the Audit and Risk
Committee Charter and led a team comprising of 25 professionals.
At Ben Engelbrecht and Associates he was responsible for the financial
management of a host of clients and accounting projects, including the merger of
Syfrets, UAL and Nedcor Investment Bank Unitised Investment Schemes, Nedcor
Investment Bank’s takeover of the Nedbank Unit Trust schemes, and the subsequent
merger of Nedbank and BoE Unit Trust schemes. He also served as training officer
at the practice and led the training and empowerment program for new accountants
in training, in accordance with IFAC standards.
At Van Graan and Associates, BE&A Accountants and Auditors, and Naudé and
Partners he was responsible for the initial set up of Cape Town based practices,
systems and infrastructure, and for technical advice to clients in accounting matters,
taxation and auditing.

At Ovation Global Investments he initiated the design and implementation of the
automated reconciliation systems and served on the Executive Committee.
At Cohen & Gmeiner he led the implementation of the first ever ISO9002 quality
management system to be implemented in an audit practice.
