1. Logic: The Young Sinatra
What I find the most appealing about Logic is not just his Rat Pack style and his friendships, but how they relate to my
style and my friendships. Rap artist Logic MD was born and raised into a generation that embraces classic styles with a modern look
and feel. Logic, commonly known as „The Young Sinatra‟, takes this classic style and directs it towards his lyrics and lifestyle. Though
his style is modern, it has been largely influenced by Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack era. An influence to his music is in large part from
the support he had from his friends as well as the influence of the Rat Pack and Frank Sinatra. Although Logic‟s music seems to attract
a specific generation he still gives off a multigenerational sound and style. The Rat Pack was a diverse group of people so I put photos
in that I had taken of my group of friends and also photos that show how I relate the Rat Pack relationships and style with my group of
friends. We all have different styles but our differences are central to our friendships and help develop new ways of thinking. To follow
up on my friendships I took photos that show our personal styles that in the end come together to make a diverse group comparable to
that of the Rat Pack. Both Logic and the Rat Pack diversify themselves as well as their music and lyrics. Logic represents many
different styles and brings them all together into one person; Young Sinatra. Just like the Rat Pack, Logic represents friendship;
something more than himself, in his era and style of music. One of my pictures is from graduation and it directly correlates to the value
of friendship and an era of my “Pack‟s” lives. To describe the origins of Logic I struggled with what about him to focus on. There are
so many things that go into what made him who he is so I used photos I have taken in the past that emphasize friendship. Along with
that I used a lot of different angles to show different perspectives which represent different styles within those friendships. From there
those photos merge in with the idea of those friendships developing into a style and a way of life.
8. The Rat Pack and Frank
Sinatra’s influence on
Logic was that friendship
was the center to the
collective.
9. Logic’s friendships turned into something
more. Logic started his own Rat Pack,
which was the idea of combining diverse
styles and ideas into a group of friends.
