Info-graphic Research:
Producers are present in every single genre of media and play major roles in each type of production. Although each genre might be
widely different from each other, a producer's role and job is the same throughout each and every genre. The producer has a great
amount of power in every single aspect of the production process. They are never left out and are heavily involved in every single stage of
the production.
There are several different types of Producers:
• Producers are involved in every single stage of the overall production process, including overseeing, arranging, and managing every
aspect of the Production Process. When the workload is split between several Producers, this makes them known as Co-Producers.
• Executive Producers oversee all of the other producers working on the same project. Their main job is to make sure that the
producers are fulfilling their roles on the given production.
• Line Producers manage the staff and day-to-day operations, and the overseeing of each and every physical aspect that is involved in
the making of a film or television program.
• Supervising Producers watch over the creative process of screenplay development and they often aid in re-writing scripts. They can
also serve in place of the Executive producers' role of overseeing other producers.
Although rates can vary based on a producer's role and the location of filming, the average salary can start anywhere from £18,000 to
£70,000, even doubling when working in Los Angeles. The average salary for a Film/TV Producer is £34,938 per year.
Info-graphic Research (Page 2):
Development (film rights)
During this stage of the production process, producers bring together people like the film director, cinematographer, and production
designer. The producer would usually have the final say on which film director, cast members, or other staff get hired. In some cases, they
also have the last word when it comes to casting questions. A producer's role will also consist of approving locations, the studio hire, the
final shooting script, the production schedule, and the budget.
Pre-production
During production, the producer's job is to make sure the film stays on schedule and under budget. They will always be in contact with
directors and other key creative team members. Consequently, it is normal that the main producer will appoint executive producers, line
producers, or unit production managers who represent the main producer's interests and vision.
Production
For various reasons, producers cannot always personally supervise all parts of their production. For example, some producers run a
company which also deals with film distribution. Consequently, it is normal that the main producer will appoint executive producers, line
producers, or unit production managers who represent the main producer's interests.
Post-production
During post-production, the producer has the last word on whether sounds, music, or scenes have to be changed or cut. Even if the
shooting has been finished, the producers can still demand that additional scenes be filmed. In the case of a negative test screening,
producers may even demand and get an alternative film ending.
Info-graphic Research (Page 3):
Researchers had looked at the 700 highest-grossing productions, which comprise nearly every film that scored a theatrical
release. It found that there were more women employed on lower budgeted, lower grossing productions. 27% of producers
on the top 700 films were female, while 23% on the top 250 films were female.
Skills required for being a Producer includes:
• creativity and vision
• presentation and negotiation skills
• leadership and management ability
• planning and organizational skills
• financial skills and the ability to work to a budget
Working Hours are entirely based on what is being produced, therefore hours can be long and irregular.
Some well known Film Producers include Steven Spielberg (E.T, Back to the Future, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan etc.),
George Lucas (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), and James Cameron (Terminator, Titanic, Avatar).

Research:
Describe how you located, retrieved and stored information:
• Located
• I had found a variety of different websites that had a lot of different information about what I was going to include on the
Infographic, for example the website PayScale had information about how much Producers got paid.
• Retrieved
• With each website that I looked at, I had filtered out and edited certain Information in order to get the most Important
amounts of Information.
• Stored Information
• After filtering out the Information I added it to the PowerPoint (and then Filtered it again to suit the Infographic) and I
used Harvard Referencing (Neil’s Toolbox) in order to sort out the Bibliography.
Client research: Irn-Bru
Irn-Bru is a Scottish carbonated soft drink, often described as "Scotland's other national drink”. Innovative and sometimes
controversial marketing campaigns have kept it as the number one selling soft drink in Scotland, where it competes
directly with global brands such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
Their Marketing Campaign has often been controversial, with complaints often following. One billboard featured a picture
of a cow with the slogan "When I'm a burger, I want to be washed down with Irn-Bru". This billboard resulted in over 700
complaints but was cleared by advertisement watchdogs. A billboard which featured a depressed goth and the slogan
"Cheer up Goth. Have an Irn-Bru." was also criticised for inciting bullying.
In response to the Coca-Cola 'Share a Coke' campaign, Barr decided to produce thousands of limited edition 750 ml
bottles of Irn-Bru with the names 'Fanny', 'Senga', 'Rab' and 'Tam' on the label, mimicking that by Coca Cola. The use of
the name 'Fanny' ties in with one of Irn-Bru's controversial marketing advertisements.
Client research:
Market research: Pepsi
Pepsi is a carbonated soft drink produced and manufactured by PepsiCo. Pepsi has been featured in several films,
including Back to the Future Part II (1989), Home Alone (1990), Wayne's World (1992), Fight Club (1999), and World War Z
(2013). Through the intervening decades, there have been many different Pepsi theme songs sung on television by a
variety of artists, from Joanie Summers to the Jacksons to Britney Spears.
Pepsiman is an official Pepsi mascot from Pepsi's Japanese corporate branch. The design of the Pepsiman character is
attributed to Canadian comic book artist Travis Charest, created sometime around the mid-1990s. Twelve commercials
were created featuring the character. His role in the advertisements is to appear with Pepsi to thirsty people or people
craving soda. Pepsiman happens to appear at just the right time with the product. After delivering the beverage,
sometimes Pepsiman would encounter a difficult and action-oriented situation which would result in injury.
In 1999, A video game was developed for the PlayStation entitled Pepsiman. As the titular character, the player runs "on
rails”, skateboards, rolls, and stumbles through various areas, avoiding dangers and collecting cans of Pepsi, all while
trying to reach a thirsty person as in the commercials.
However Pepsi isn’t without it’s own controversy, as In 2002, at Novosibirsk, Pepsi
created a contest to win a car, where customers who bought a bottle of Pepsi
could win a car by choosing the right key for the car. However, when a man was
able to open a car, he was sued by Pepsi, as Pepsi considered that he had forced
the car open by applying pressure on the lock instead of selecting the right key,
although the man had stated that he had complied with every step of the contest
rules.
Market research:
Coca-Cola, or Coke, is a carbonated soft drink produced by The Coca-Cola Company. The Coca-Cola Company has on
occasion introduced other cola drinks under the Coke name. The most common of these is Diet Coke, along with others
including Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola, Diet Coke Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Zero, Coca-Cola Vanilla, and special
versions with lemon, lime, and coffee. Based on Interbrand's "best global brand" study of 2015, Coca-Cola was the world's
third most valuable brand, after Apple and Google. In 2013, Coke products were sold in over 200 countries worldwide, with
consumers downing more than 1.8 billion company beverage servings each day.
Coca-Cola's advertising has significantly affected American culture, and it is frequently credited with inventing the modern
image of Santa Claus as an old man in a red-and-white suit. Before Santa Claus, Coca-Cola relied on images of smartly
dressed young women to sell its beverages. Coca-Cola's first such advertisement appeared in 1895, featuring the young
Bostonian actress Hilda Clark as its spokeswoman.
In Australia in 2011, Coca-Cola began the "share a Coke" campaign, where the Coca-Cola logo was replaced on the bottles
and replaced with first names. Coca-Cola used the 150 most popular names in Australia to print on the bottles. The
campaign was paired with a website page, Facebook page, and an online "share a virtual Coke".
The same campaign was introduced to Coca-Cola, Diet Coke & Coke Zero bottles and cans in
the UK in 2013.
Market research:
Vimto is a soft drink sold in the United Kingdom. It was first manufactured as a health tonic in cordial form, then decades later
as a carbonated drink. It contains the juice of grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants, flavored with herbs and spices. It is often
referred to as the rich man's Red Kola. Vimto has also been made into several different sweets, as well as an ice lolly.
In 2008, A specialist edition of Cluedo was made in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the fruit drink. From 2005 to
2009, a series of advertisements called ‘Shlurple the Purple’ were made to advertise the drink, these advertisements featured
a person drinking Vimto to find a strange thing happens to them (such as having a man's head shrink or having another man's
ears stretch out). Seriously Mixed Up Fruit is the current strapline for Vimto and replaced Shlurple the Purple in 2009. This
campaign features anthropomorphised raspberry, grape and blackcurrant characters of unspecified East European/Russian
origin, engaging in various activities which inevitably ends up with them being 'splatted'... thus becoming the drink.
On 26 April 2014, as part of a rebrand by Aardman, the fruits were replaced by the "Vimtoad", an anthropomorphic red toad
in a Hawaiian shirt that likes the taste of Vimto, which he describes as being "fan-flippin'-tastic!”. In 2016, with the
introduction of Vimto Remix, a rival to the Vimtoad was introduced known as the "Mixtoad"; the accompanying
campaign showed the two toads facing each other in a Splatoon-style "Toadoff".

Interview
What do you think of Irn-Bru? Would you want to change anything about it?
What would you add into Irn-Bru and how would you implement this?
I would add a variety of flavors to give the customers some choice. I would implement this by mixing
different fruits with the classic Irn-Bru recipe.
What would you like to see in an Irn-Bru Advert?
I’d like to see over the top comedy.
Interview
What do you think of Irn-Bru? Would you want to change anything about it?
I think that Irn-Bru tastes disgusting. I would change the taste to be more appealing to the audience.
What would you add into Irn-Bru and how would you implement this?
I would add a reward when buying a multipack, I would add this to every 1 million cans.
What would you like to see in an Irn-Bru Advert?

Primary Research:
Most of the Target Audience is Male
Most of the Target Audience is between the Age of 16 and 18
Primary Research:
A lot of people prefer Coca Cola as their favorite Soft Drink
(winning with 7 Votes), with 7-Up and Lilt getting nothing,
Irn-Bru only getting one vote, Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew
getting 2 Votes. Fanta, Vimto and (ugh) Sprite getting 3
Votes, and Pepsi being Second Best with 4 Votes.
Primary Research:
Most people had said that they had tried Irn-Bru
before, however curiously 2 people who had said no
to this question then responded to the next
question, as 20 people answered the next question,
however only 18 people said ‘yes’ to this one.
Primary Research:
Out of the 20 people who had answered ‘Yes’ to the
previous question, a majority of them hadn’t drunk any in a
while, with at least 11 of them being at least more than a
month ago.
Primary Research:
Around half of the people who answered this had
said that the main thing that they wanted to
change was the taste of Irn-Bru, the others were
split between a Better Colour Scheme, Increasing
the size of the Cans, and Introducing a New Type
of Irn-Bru.

Problem What Should I Do?
Open wire which could cause an electric shock. Tell the tutor about the wire and keep away.
Looking at the computer slouched, which could cause back problems. Sit in the chair properly by having a straight back.
Don’t spend to much time looking at the screen as this could tire out your eyes Take a 5 minute break to give your eyes a rest
Don’t mess around on your chair as you could hurt others and your self. Sit down and don’t spin yourself around.
A smashed computer could leave sharp glass everywhere. Tell your tutor about the broken glass and stay away from the effected area.
A fire caused by a faulty wire. Press the fire alarm button to warn other students and evacuate the building.
Be careful about the food you bring into class as someone can be allergic to the food. Ask your tutor about the students who are allergic to foods.
A bag left in the middle of the room could trip a student up. Keep all your belongings underneath the table.
A student could trip over some headphone wires. Keep your work space clean and tidy.
Locations
This is an example of a storyboard that we could use for the video, it’s basically about someone who gets
injured because they weren’t looking at where they were going, and someone else gives them Irn-Bru in
order to help them recover.

Advergame Prototype Level Design (Hand Drawn)
This is a prototype hand-drawn level
design image made to show what
could possibly end up being shown in
the final advergame, the image in the
corner is essentially what would
actually be the size of the level, rather
than the zoomed out version that
takes up the rest of the image. Lines
and Circles are enemy placements
and other obstacles include Pits,
Spikes and Springs. The goal is marked
by a larger Irn-Bru can and two

Irn Bru Pro Forma

  • 2. Info-graphic Research: Producers are present in every single genre of media and play major roles in each type of production. Although each genre might be widely different from each other, a producer's role and job is the same throughout each and every genre. The producer has a great amount of power in every single aspect of the production process. They are never left out and are heavily involved in every single stage of the production. There are several different types of Producers: • Producers are involved in every single stage of the overall production process, including overseeing, arranging, and managing every aspect of the Production Process. When the workload is split between several Producers, this makes them known as Co-Producers. • Executive Producers oversee all of the other producers working on the same project. Their main job is to make sure that the producers are fulfilling their roles on the given production. • Line Producers manage the staff and day-to-day operations, and the overseeing of each and every physical aspect that is involved in the making of a film or television program. • Supervising Producers watch over the creative process of screenplay development and they often aid in re-writing scripts. They can also serve in place of the Executive producers' role of overseeing other producers. Although rates can vary based on a producer's role and the location of filming, the average salary can start anywhere from £18,000 to £70,000, even doubling when working in Los Angeles. The average salary for a Film/TV Producer is £34,938 per year.
  • 3. Info-graphic Research (Page 2): Development (film rights) During this stage of the production process, producers bring together people like the film director, cinematographer, and production designer. The producer would usually have the final say on which film director, cast members, or other staff get hired. In some cases, they also have the last word when it comes to casting questions. A producer's role will also consist of approving locations, the studio hire, the final shooting script, the production schedule, and the budget. Pre-production During production, the producer's job is to make sure the film stays on schedule and under budget. They will always be in contact with directors and other key creative team members. Consequently, it is normal that the main producer will appoint executive producers, line producers, or unit production managers who represent the main producer's interests and vision. Production For various reasons, producers cannot always personally supervise all parts of their production. For example, some producers run a company which also deals with film distribution. Consequently, it is normal that the main producer will appoint executive producers, line producers, or unit production managers who represent the main producer's interests. Post-production During post-production, the producer has the last word on whether sounds, music, or scenes have to be changed or cut. Even if the shooting has been finished, the producers can still demand that additional scenes be filmed. In the case of a negative test screening, producers may even demand and get an alternative film ending.
  • 4. Info-graphic Research (Page 3): Researchers had looked at the 700 highest-grossing productions, which comprise nearly every film that scored a theatrical release. It found that there were more women employed on lower budgeted, lower grossing productions. 27% of producers on the top 700 films were female, while 23% on the top 250 films were female. Skills required for being a Producer includes: • creativity and vision • presentation and negotiation skills • leadership and management ability • planning and organizational skills • financial skills and the ability to work to a budget Working Hours are entirely based on what is being produced, therefore hours can be long and irregular. Some well known Film Producers include Steven Spielberg (E.T, Back to the Future, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan etc.), George Lucas (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), and James Cameron (Terminator, Titanic, Avatar).

  • 9. Research: Describe how you located, retrieved and stored information: • Located • I had found a variety of different websites that had a lot of different information about what I was going to include on the Infographic, for example the website PayScale had information about how much Producers got paid. • Retrieved • With each website that I looked at, I had filtered out and edited certain Information in order to get the most Important amounts of Information. • Stored Information • After filtering out the Information I added it to the PowerPoint (and then Filtered it again to suit the Infographic) and I used Harvard Referencing (Neil’s Toolbox) in order to sort out the Bibliography.
  • 10. Client research: Irn-Bru Irn-Bru is a Scottish carbonated soft drink, often described as "Scotland's other national drink”. Innovative and sometimes controversial marketing campaigns have kept it as the number one selling soft drink in Scotland, where it competes directly with global brands such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Their Marketing Campaign has often been controversial, with complaints often following. One billboard featured a picture of a cow with the slogan "When I'm a burger, I want to be washed down with Irn-Bru". This billboard resulted in over 700 complaints but was cleared by advertisement watchdogs. A billboard which featured a depressed goth and the slogan "Cheer up Goth. Have an Irn-Bru." was also criticised for inciting bullying. In response to the Coca-Cola 'Share a Coke' campaign, Barr decided to produce thousands of limited edition 750 ml bottles of Irn-Bru with the names 'Fanny', 'Senga', 'Rab' and 'Tam' on the label, mimicking that by Coca Cola. The use of the name 'Fanny' ties in with one of Irn-Bru's controversial marketing advertisements.
  • 12. Market research: Pepsi Pepsi is a carbonated soft drink produced and manufactured by PepsiCo. Pepsi has been featured in several films, including Back to the Future Part II (1989), Home Alone (1990), Wayne's World (1992), Fight Club (1999), and World War Z (2013). Through the intervening decades, there have been many different Pepsi theme songs sung on television by a variety of artists, from Joanie Summers to the Jacksons to Britney Spears. Pepsiman is an official Pepsi mascot from Pepsi's Japanese corporate branch. The design of the Pepsiman character is attributed to Canadian comic book artist Travis Charest, created sometime around the mid-1990s. Twelve commercials were created featuring the character. His role in the advertisements is to appear with Pepsi to thirsty people or people craving soda. Pepsiman happens to appear at just the right time with the product. After delivering the beverage, sometimes Pepsiman would encounter a difficult and action-oriented situation which would result in injury. In 1999, A video game was developed for the PlayStation entitled Pepsiman. As the titular character, the player runs "on rails”, skateboards, rolls, and stumbles through various areas, avoiding dangers and collecting cans of Pepsi, all while trying to reach a thirsty person as in the commercials. However Pepsi isn’t without it’s own controversy, as In 2002, at Novosibirsk, Pepsi created a contest to win a car, where customers who bought a bottle of Pepsi could win a car by choosing the right key for the car. However, when a man was able to open a car, he was sued by Pepsi, as Pepsi considered that he had forced the car open by applying pressure on the lock instead of selecting the right key, although the man had stated that he had complied with every step of the contest rules.
  • 13. Market research: Coca-Cola, or Coke, is a carbonated soft drink produced by The Coca-Cola Company. The Coca-Cola Company has on occasion introduced other cola drinks under the Coke name. The most common of these is Diet Coke, along with others including Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola, Diet Coke Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Zero, Coca-Cola Vanilla, and special versions with lemon, lime, and coffee. Based on Interbrand's "best global brand" study of 2015, Coca-Cola was the world's third most valuable brand, after Apple and Google. In 2013, Coke products were sold in over 200 countries worldwide, with consumers downing more than 1.8 billion company beverage servings each day. Coca-Cola's advertising has significantly affected American culture, and it is frequently credited with inventing the modern image of Santa Claus as an old man in a red-and-white suit. Before Santa Claus, Coca-Cola relied on images of smartly dressed young women to sell its beverages. Coca-Cola's first such advertisement appeared in 1895, featuring the young Bostonian actress Hilda Clark as its spokeswoman. In Australia in 2011, Coca-Cola began the "share a Coke" campaign, where the Coca-Cola logo was replaced on the bottles and replaced with first names. Coca-Cola used the 150 most popular names in Australia to print on the bottles. The campaign was paired with a website page, Facebook page, and an online "share a virtual Coke". The same campaign was introduced to Coca-Cola, Diet Coke & Coke Zero bottles and cans in the UK in 2013.
  • 14. Market research: Vimto is a soft drink sold in the United Kingdom. It was first manufactured as a health tonic in cordial form, then decades later as a carbonated drink. It contains the juice of grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants, flavored with herbs and spices. It is often referred to as the rich man's Red Kola. Vimto has also been made into several different sweets, as well as an ice lolly. In 2008, A specialist edition of Cluedo was made in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the fruit drink. From 2005 to 2009, a series of advertisements called ‘Shlurple the Purple’ were made to advertise the drink, these advertisements featured a person drinking Vimto to find a strange thing happens to them (such as having a man's head shrink or having another man's ears stretch out). Seriously Mixed Up Fruit is the current strapline for Vimto and replaced Shlurple the Purple in 2009. This campaign features anthropomorphised raspberry, grape and blackcurrant characters of unspecified East European/Russian origin, engaging in various activities which inevitably ends up with them being 'splatted'... thus becoming the drink. On 26 April 2014, as part of a rebrand by Aardman, the fruits were replaced by the "Vimtoad", an anthropomorphic red toad in a Hawaiian shirt that likes the taste of Vimto, which he describes as being "fan-flippin'-tastic!”. In 2016, with the introduction of Vimto Remix, a rival to the Vimtoad was introduced known as the "Mixtoad"; the accompanying campaign showed the two toads facing each other in a Splatoon-style "Toadoff".
  • 16. Interview What do you think of Irn-Bru? Would you want to change anything about it? What would you add into Irn-Bru and how would you implement this? I would add a variety of flavors to give the customers some choice. I would implement this by mixing different fruits with the classic Irn-Bru recipe. What would you like to see in an Irn-Bru Advert? I’d like to see over the top comedy.
  • 17. Interview What do you think of Irn-Bru? Would you want to change anything about it? I think that Irn-Bru tastes disgusting. I would change the taste to be more appealing to the audience. What would you add into Irn-Bru and how would you implement this? I would add a reward when buying a multipack, I would add this to every 1 million cans. What would you like to see in an Irn-Bru Advert? Comedy, homer
  • 18. Primary Research: Most of the Target Audience is Male Most of the Target Audience is between the Age of 16 and 18
  • 19. Primary Research: A lot of people prefer Coca Cola as their favorite Soft Drink (winning with 7 Votes), with 7-Up and Lilt getting nothing, Irn-Bru only getting one vote, Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew getting 2 Votes. Fanta, Vimto and (ugh) Sprite getting 3 Votes, and Pepsi being Second Best with 4 Votes.
  • 20. Primary Research: Most people had said that they had tried Irn-Bru before, however curiously 2 people who had said no to this question then responded to the next question, as 20 people answered the next question, however only 18 people said ‘yes’ to this one.
  • 21. Primary Research: Out of the 20 people who had answered ‘Yes’ to the previous question, a majority of them hadn’t drunk any in a while, with at least 11 of them being at least more than a month ago.
  • 22. Primary Research: Around half of the people who answered this had said that the main thing that they wanted to change was the taste of Irn-Bru, the others were split between a Better Colour Scheme, Increasing the size of the Cans, and Introducing a New Type of Irn-Bru.
  • 26. Video Contingency Plan Check to see if the SD card is full, if so check before leaving or book an extra SD card Save work every at least every 5 minutes on Mac or SD Card, as the computer could shut down or camera could switch off Booking the equipment in advance so we can make sure that we have the equipment If a lesson is missed make sure to catch up Schedule Day 1 – Booking Equipment and buying props Day 2 – Practicing ad until perfected, then filming Day 3 – Editing or filming if unfinished Day 4 – Editing and checking to see if there's any mistakes/improvements Possible Locations Library, Stairs, Outside, Lounge Area.
  • 27. Video Health and Safety Problem What Should I Do? Open wire which could cause an electric shock. Tell the tutor about the wire and keep away. Looking at the computer slouched, which could cause back problems. Sit in the chair properly by having a straight back. Don’t spend to much time looking at the screen as this could tire out your eyes Take a 5 minute break to give your eyes a rest Don’t mess around on your chair as you could hurt others and your self.
  • 29. This is an example of a storyboard that we could use for the video, it’s basically about someone who gets injured because they weren’t looking at where they were going, and someone else gives them Irn-Bru in order to help them recover.

  • 32. Planning Docs (Advergame): Pixel Art Experiments These next couple slides show some of the experiments that I have made that could possibly be included in the final advergame, such as several sprites for the main character (with and without Head Bandage), as well as some other possible additions including Sans, a Gaster Blaster and several cans.
  • 34. Advergame Prototype Level Design (Hand Drawn) This is a prototype hand-drawn level design image made to show what could possibly end up being shown in the final advergame, the image in the corner is essentially what would actually be the size of the level, rather than the zoomed out version that takes up the rest of the image. Lines and Circles are enemy placements and other obstacles include Pits, Spikes and Springs. The goal is marked by a larger Irn-Bru can and two Scottish Flags.
