This document is a presentation on mine machinery for a course at the University of Liberia. It discusses bucket capacity for backhoe excavators, how front end loaders are used to scoop and transport loose materials, that a 90 ton dumper truck has a capacity of 90 tons for transporting materials to and between construction sites. It also describes excavators and their boom, dipper, bucket and rotating cab, and how electric shovels are electrically powered machines used for digging, loading, and mineral extraction. The document explains the difference between a long ton at 2,240 lbs and a short ton at 2,000 lbs, and why studying mine machinery allows understanding principles for analyzing, designing, manufacturing and maintaining mining equipment.
