Lessons learnt
• Following even just the principles of Soft Landings can deliver good results
• Design processes can follow Soft Landings approach
• Construction takes a long time - don’t underestimate the ability to forget and the
amount of churn in an organisation
• Successful handover and after care require both Contractor/Subcontractor buy-in and
contractual obligations – consultant goodwill is not enough
• A sustainability framework is a great tool for capturing feedback and driving actions
during design, construction, handover and in-use
