How does the motivation to be English
teachers vary across time?
What factors influence this motivation?
3. 3.1. Participants
Three female English teachers currently employed at the
University of Quintana Roo
Age range: 35-48
All of them have already visited (or lived for a short period of
time) countries where English is spoken.
Voluntary
4. 3.2. Instrument
Semi-structured interview .
To be more accurate the invertiview will be in
Spanish. It will be recorded in audio (maybe
videotape).
Transcripted.
Then it will be translated to English.
A format will be used to guide the interview.
5. 3.2.1. Material
At the end of each interview a printed time line
will be given to the participants.
In that time line they have to indicate 5 years (I
mean in 1998 this happened…) that were
important for them since they became English
teachers.
6. 3.3. Procedure
A little introduction about the importance of the
research.
The teachers will be interviewed in a quiet place.
The semi-structured format will guide the
interview.
7. 3.4. Data analysis
The data will be analyzed qualitatively.
Steps to follow:
1. The information will be gathered.
2. Each interview will be transcript.
3. The transcripts will be translated.
4. The information will be organized in a table
located in the literature review (with an
explanation)
5. The relationship between specific facets will
be explained.
8. 6. Organization and visualization of texts will
compose the final dissertation.
7. Conclusion. It will summarize the study.
