  • 6. I’m  Len  Ford,     a  fundraising   professional   with  more  than   30  years  experience  raising  millions   of  dollars  for  nonprofit  organiza-ons   around  the  country.

Two  years  ago,  I  turned  my  a8en9on  to   trade  groups  and                                                                           important  sectors  in  our  communi9es,   which  historically  have  under-­‐performed   when  it  comes  to  raising  contributed   dollars.   associa-ons,

In  our  first  campaign  with  an  associa2on   nonprofit  in  business  for  20  years,  we:   • Raised  more  than  $600,000— in  just  a  few  months! • Secured  a  $300,000  corporate  pledge to  completely  underwrite  a  major  lecture  series! • Put  the  organiza=on  on  track  to  raise  at  least   $1,000,000  or  more!

Here’s  how  we  achieved  these  results:  • Restructured  the  Board;  prepared  and   adopted  new  qualifica2ons  and   responsibili2es  for  board  membership   • Conducted  a  fundraising  feasibility  study • Prepared  a  campaign  brochure,  pledge  cards,   and  volunteer  training  materials

We  also:  • Raised  nearly  $150,000  from  associa=on  and   founda=on  board  members  to  start  the  campaign   • Launched  an  industry  friends  campaign;  recruited  and   trained  associa=on  members  to  carry  out  the  program • Created  a  pledge  payment  and  giH  tracking  program   and  integrated  it  with  the  associa=on's  accoun=ng   system

Here’s  what  the  Associa2on’s  CEO   says  about  our  impact: “Not  only  do  we  now  have  a  much  stronger   founda5on,  but  for  the  very  first  =me  we  have   begun  to  raise  serious  funds...  more  than   $600,000,  including  a  $300,000  corporate  pledge,   the  largest  giC  ever  received  in  the  founda=on’s   history.”
  • 14. And  there’s  more: “Our  giving  has  increased  drama5cally  and  the   average  giH  (excluding  the  $300,000  corporate   giH)  in  the  campaign  we  launched  was  more  than   $10,000.  We  believe  the  founda=on  will  con=nue   to  raise  substan=al  funds  for  our  program.”
