The document provides three summaries of potential opening scenes for a film:
1) The first scene involves a father being shot during a car chase witnessed by his son, who then seeks revenge as an adult.
2) The second scene uses a flashback of two brothers playing when one is kidnapped by an assassin, leading the other to seek his brother.
3) The third and final scene opens in a hospital with a flashback of a boy witnessing his friend being kidnapped, leaving him with a scar, before regaining consciousness with a changed eye color, setting up his quest.
2. FIRST SYNOPSIS:
The opening scene begins with a unemployed father who
wakes up to go to a job interview but while he is
travelling there is a car chase in which guns are
involved. Tragedy strikes when the father gets shot, this
is witnessed by his little boy. The death of his father
has a big impact on him and it becomes his mission to seek
revenge. As he grows up he trains to become a skilled
fighter. He finds information about the people that killed
his father and discovers that it’s a secret organization
that kills individuals who pose a threat to them. He
realizes that his father was at the wrong place at the
wrong time, strengthening his determination to find the
people who killed him.
CRITICISM: it was too advanced for us to do as
we can’t really create that scene. It was not within
our budget.
3. SECOND SYNOPSIS
The opening scene would start with a flashback of
two little boys running around and playing in a
park. The two siblings fight over a toy arrow that
they discovered while playing. They get a huge shock
as the oldest boy gets kidnapped by an assassin. The
flashback ends with the boy waking up in a hospital
bed in anger as he realizes that he had lost the
fight with the enemy. As he looks to the left we see
a red arrow. The scene ends with him talking about
his quest to find his missing brother.
CRITICISM: it was too early for the guy to be
already in a fight with the villain. In action films it
usually takes place later within the film.
4. THIRD (FINAL) SYNOPSIS:
Instead of starting with a flashback, we would hear the
ECG machine beeping. It would then open with two nurses
talking about his health deteriorating. One of the nurses
discovers a picture of a boy and a girl. The camera then
zooms into the guys face and we are taken into a
flashback. The flashback consists of a younger version of
the guy, playing with his friend in a park and suddenly a
hand takes the little girl. He runs away but when he looks
back he visualizes a red light flashing, coming from an
arrow. He picks it up and is left with a permanent scar.
It then goes back to the hospital and the camera pans up
towards his scar. The ECG machine beeps rapidly ending
with his eyes opening revealing his different eye colour.
The scene ends with the title, ‘Red Arrow’.
We felt this was the best one as we can
easily film this and it makes more sense.
