Editing
BUILDING A FOUNDATION
From AS - A2 I have learnt more about
editing in A2. Doing a music video for the
first time meant editing would be different
than editing for a film. The first thing I
learnt was how to sync the videos to the
original music, which was new. At first
when doing the tutorial I didn't have much
success however as the editing went on I
started to see its simplicity. The next skill I
learnt was how to form the foundation of
the music video. I initially thought you just
put the clips you want on time line which
is an option but isn't efficient. Instead a
more efficient way is to place base tracks
on the timeline followed by cutting into
the base tracks and deleting clips we didn't
want.
COLOUR CORRECTION
A significant skill I learnt was colour correction. Colour correction has
played a big part in our music video. Nearly all clips have been colour
corrected. Last year I had come across colour correction however playing
around with it I've learnt how to make sure all clips are the same colour and
a surprising element I learnt is that you can copy and paste the numbers in
the side bar to every clip which at the end made things much more quicker.
Colour correction has made some scenes look saturated and has enhanced
the colour especially the balloon scenes. As before on each clip we would be
struggling to find the right colour to keep it the same.
EFFECTS
Adding effects has also been a significant new skill. Finding the right
effects can be hard enough however Final Cut Pro allowed me to
experiment with different effects some we kept and others weren't as
great. Sometimes we would be in a situation where we it was good
effect but wrong timing or we have to adjust the edit.
AS-A2
All in all my editing skills have
improved dramatically from AS - A2. I
have learnt many new skills and have
improved on my existing ones.
