• JSPL's CSR Policy aims at bringing about a radical transformation in
the quality of life of people living in and around the operation areas
of the company through positive intervention in social upliftment

16. WASTE MANAGEMENT
The company pursues the policy of three R’s- Recycle, Reduce and Reuse- for
managing its waste
Some of the plans undertaken for effective solid waste management are:
• Power generation from coal rejects fines and middling in AFBC boilers.
• Slag generated from blast furnace is 100% reused in cement manufacturing
and brick making.
• Tailor made sinter plant to utilise 100% mill scale and flue dust generated
in mills and blast furnace.
• SMS slag after granulation is used for road making.
• Fly ash generated is used for brick manufacturing and cement
manufacturing.

• The company is deeply passionate about maintaining a clean and
green environment in and around its plants. It follows a procedure of
total productive maintenance (TPM) for the prevention of air
pollution.
• Water pollution is controlled by adopting a range of stringent
regulatory measures and monitoring processes. Rainwater harvesting
structures have been constructed for ground water recharge in
consultation with the water resource department across all units of
the company.
18. SAFETY
• At JSPL safety and health are accorded the highest importance and
are integral to the manner in which we conduct our business. The
company has put in place a robust system for safety management
with an Occupational Health and Safety Policy that incorporates
standard operating procedures, instructions, safe methods of work
and work permit system.
• The safety department conducts audits at units to identify strengths
and weaknesses of the current system, identify risks of personal
injury, and promote employee participation and morale.
