2. 1. Get into pairs and attempt the following :
“The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.”- Mark Twain.
- Discuss with your partner what Mark Twain means from the above quote.
- Write in your own words
Here the mark Twain wants to say that the more he learns about people, he finds they are
dissatisfied, frustrated, trampling over other and still not happy and on other hand animals
are always happy with what they have so the mark Twain likes the dog who are loyal
whereas the humans are not.
People disappoint us. Many of us turn to the companionship of animal when we feel
misunderstood or betrayed by our fellow humans.

5. I wish I could be a
The birds are so lucky. They can fly to any place they want. I wish I could fly. I wish I were
a butterfly. Butterflies are so beautiful. There are so many colours on butterflies' body. I
cannot believe that they are natural colours. It looks like beautiful paintings. If I were a
butterfly I would sit on the most beautiful flower. Butterflies are lucky because their food is
so sweet - honey. Wow! I can eat something sweet whenever I am hungry. I will fly from
one flower to another like we play hop-scotch. I will sleep on a bed of flowers. Life will be
so beautiful like a dream. I can visit so many places. I would like my body to be red in
colour and my wings should have all the colours of the rainbow. My friends will be jealous
of my beauty. Oh! How I wish I were a butterfly. All of us love freedom and have their own
expressions of being free. Each one of us wants to define freedom in the way it suits us.
Some teens may feel that being with friends and peers is freedom, some responsible citizens
feel that loving their country and doing something about it is freedom while some think that
being in the lap of Mother Nature is freedom. My idea of freedom is being a butterfly.

7. Considered one of America's most influential poets, Walt Whitman aimed to transcend
traditional epics and eschew normal aesthetic form to mirror the potential freedoms to be
found in America. In 1855, he self-published the collection Leaves of Grass; the book
is now a landmark in American literature, though at the time of its publication it was
considered highly controversial. Whitman later worked as a volunteer nurse during the
Civil War, writing the collection Drum Taps (1865) in connection to the experiences of
war-torn soldiers. Having continued to produce new editions of Leaves of Grass along
with original works, Whitman died on March 26, 1892, in Camden, New Jersey.

animals are better than human. The reason for this is due to the fact that the

22. View:
Animals are certainly better than humans. They offer a better company &
never let you sulk alone. They are adorable beings who can instantly turn a
bad day into a good one. Humans can hurt each other & talk in an ill-
mannered way. But, animals never let you down. Their life is better as they
need not take responsibilities like humans. They have the gift of freedom
and can live their life the way they want.
Counterview:
Animals are beautiful creatures of God but they can’t enjoy a better life
than humans, God has given extra powers to the man to do make the world
a happier place to live. Men have got better brains than animals and they
can add value to every work. Humans have a bigger motive to survive than
animals.
