Executive Summary
OPE: One Word, One Mission
The first thing to know about OPE is the meaning of the word itself. Coming from Latin, “ope”,
being the ablative form of “ops,-is”, means “with the resources”, “through the help”, and can be
approximated to “[completing a task] with [someone’s] help”. And this is what we want our
business to be about: helping people help people, putting people who need a way to raise some
money on the right way to do so while making other people’s lives easier.
Potentially, anyone could use OPE, one way or the other: if you are in need of cash for any kind
of reason, you can invest your time in completing tasks for people who don’t have the time or the
will to do so themselves. On the other hand, if you are in a financially stable position, you can
invest your time in activitiesyou like and appreciate and leave all the tedious but necessary tasks
you encounter to someone else, paying a small fee.

In fact, the product we plan to offer is an app that will find someone to do your chores for you.
This app will provide, for the initial five years considered in this plan, these services:

The benefit of this app is that with it we provide jobs to the unemployed (social benefit) and give
them a sense of independence. We aim to also provide jobs for young adults (above the age of 18)
to help them pay their college tuition fees.
Unmet Need
The unmet need that our app aims to fulfill is that of economically stable households of reducing
the time and effort that must go daily in the maintenance of the house and other family assets.
Startup Location
We plan to originally startup in Dallas, Texas and proceed on expanding from there after two or
three years. We believe, since Dallas is a developing city, with one of the highest growth rates in
the country, that we will find a good market niche for our services.

Market Analysis
Our product would be effective in cities that are growing rapidly, for example Dallas. Also, the
economy of the country would have a great impact on the effectiveness of the product (the more
developed the country is, the more likely it is that people do not have time to do their chores by
themselves). Because of the large frictionally unemployed population in a city such as Dallas (lots of
graduated university students not having jobs), the temporary labor market in that city is worth a
lot. As we can see from the graph below, the estimated US temporary labor market size is going
to increase greatly in the next 5 years.
The Competition
Who Are We Competing With?
What comes with an ever-expanding market is an ever-expanding plethora of competitors. From
our research, the application which serves the most similar purpose to ours is TaskRabbit. Their
services mainly include professional household chores such as cleaning, furniture assembly, and
home repairs. Although being the de facto default application for running your errands in the early
2010s, TaskRabbit was unable to retain its success and growth because of its inability to
continuously provide its services.
What Makes Us Different?
TaskRabbit’s highly-professional task requirements limit the number of their contractors and thus
make it difficult for costumers to find a tasker near them. Multiple negative reviews of TaskRabbit
highlight how long it takes to find a contractor. Expanding into different cities way too quickly,

TaskRabbit’s utility is extremelylow and leaves tasks unfulfilled due to insufficient supply for tasks
citywide. We are going to deal with this problem by providing home services which require little
professional skills. Our services cover pet-sitting, pool cleaning, car washing, lawn service, dog
walking, dishes washing, and errand running: none of these services require professional skills to
complete, which enables us to fully utilize the huge temporary labor market size in the US and
make sure that our clients are able to fulfill their needs in a reasonable time.
Furthermore, another issue people find with similar apps is bad customer care: users feel that the
company in which they put money and trust does not care about them and, for that reason, stop
using the app. This problem derives from the incapacity that these apps show in managing the
exponential growth they experience: they have undersized customer care departments and their
processesto get assistanceandrefunds are underdeveloped. Whileourcompany willnot experience
such a large growth in its first five years of life, thus making a big investment in customer care in
this period redundant and unnecessary, we know that, hopefully, we willcome to a point where we

Our product provides a more affordable personal assistant: our consumers are completely capable
of doing the tasks we offer themselves, so why would they use our app?
Our Answer
Because we add value by allowing our consumers to spend their time in other ways. Therefore, we
will price each service at the opportunity cost for an upper-class individual to complete the task
themselves. In short, we work to target the “soccer mom demographic”, upper middle class, and
upper-class individuals who are willing to pay someone else to complete a task they are capable of
doing themselves. The opportunity cost of their time must be more valuable than we would charge
for our services. We will work to emphasize the loss of time which is to carry out recurring tasks
and the importance thatpeople attributeto the things theywill be ableto do instead: spending time
with their family, finding new hobbies, etc.

Our target consumer will vary depending on which service they choose. For example, we predict
that a younger demographic might be more likely to use our errand or laundry services whereas an

Our primary marketing strategy is social media advertising. We believe that advertising through
social media is the most sensible for the following reasons:

- Social media has a very large outreach range for relatively low prices.

Our secondary marketing campaign is through incentivized friend referrals. We will have an in-app
referral code program for current customers to recommend our app to their friends and family.

Brand recognition is a fundamental asset to us. In a market where a larger company could easily
create a product similar to OPE and compete with us, brand recognition is vital. Through our
marketing campaign, we will familiarize consumers with the name OPE and work to make it
become a commonly used verb, very similarly to how people often say “I will favor lunch today”’
or “I will uber there” we will try to get the customers used to saying and hearing “Oh, let’s ope

Our recruitment includes a series of training sessions and background checks. Our customer’s
loyalty is our number one priority and that is why we will ensure that all our services are up to the
mark and that the contractors are reliable, and we will provide the best services to the fullest of
their potential. We will have a basic requirement to ensure the contractors’ ability to quickly get to
their working site, such as a skateboard, bicycle or any other vehicle. we will also require them to
fill a form listing the number of hours they would be willing to dedicate to completing tasks and
what all of our services are they comfortable in doing. We will then check their skills in

communication and hone these skills in a closed training session which will be held monthly so
that their shortcomings are highlighted and then worked upon to create a complaint-free
environment.
App Features
We want our app to be as easily accessible and easy to use as possible. The first thing that the
people are going to do is choose what kind of service they want us to provide them. Following this
choice, they will come across a page with detailed options and, once they will have chosen which
service best fits their needs, they will be directed to a payment screen which will allow them to pay
in advance with their credit or debit cards.

When our customers want errands to be run and select the option they are going to come across a

time, the address/venue of drop-off and pick up and then how much time shall the work require
and then there is going to be a text box to specify the work that has to be done with all the special

lists all the services we offer. They shall choose the service they require and are going to be
redirectedto another page withthe name and personal information of the contractors who are free
and will be happy to do the work at that given time. they will also get to choose the timings they
prefer so that the customers feel in control. The next step is to tell us about any special
