This document discusses energy kites, which are tethered kites that can generate electricity from high-altitude winds. It was originally developed in Italy as a way to harness renewable wind power. Energy kites have several components including a power ring, dyneema tethers, and actuators that control the kites and convert their motion into rotational energy to power generators. The kites are automatically controlled by a kite steering unit to provide a stable source of wind power with less space needed compared to traditional wind turbines.

3. Developed in Italy that takes power from high altitude
winds
This was originally conceived by Italian researcher
Massimo Ippoliteo
Kite-Gen Organization was developed in Italy for
adopting green energy concept
The simple idea of kite waving in the air lead to this
technology
Kite-Gen initiated its first project is called “ LADDER
MILL “ that could generated 50kw of power
4. The first design of KITE-GEN is a small scale
prototype
The electric actuators which hold the kite lines are
fixed with respect to the ground
Types ,
* Leading edge inflatable kite
* Supported leading edge kite
* Foil kite
* Glider
* Swept rigid wing
* Semi rigid wing
6. Provides 80% of electricity
Environmental conservation
Renewable energy source
Abundantly available
Less area required
7. A – Power Ring
B – Dyneema
C – Compass
D – Stem
E – Powered Joints
F – Ground Structure
G – Rotating Engine
H – Power Drum
I – Control Pulleys
J - Actuators
8. The core is the system of automatic control of
the kite flight, called KSU (Kite Steering Unit)
9.
10. The KSU is the unit that allows to automatically piloting a
power kite
The kite steering unit, which includes the electric drives,
the drums, and all of the hardware needed to control a
single kite
The Kite Gen project has designed and simulated a small-
scale prototype, The two kites lines are rolled around two
drums and linked to two electric drives, which are fixed
to the ground
Energy is collected when the wind force on the kite
unrolls the lines, and the electric drives act as generators
due to the rotation of the drums

vehicle
17. Less area required
Easy to Install
Cost is Less
High power with Low input
Eco-Friendly
Renewable Energy Source
Easy to bring in wind places
19. Wind power from kite is a potential renewable energy
technology
High – altitude wind power using tethered wind
turbine device has the potential to open up a new wind
resource in areas that are not served by conventional
turbines
